Question - Open Source Anti Cheat

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Oktober 2025 - 12:25

Someone know about a real project of open source anti cheat?
I think, if an anti cheat that is open source and trasnperent would be a good idea.

Then, want to ask if someone knows of a real project like that which already in the works.

Issues with Lutris for Epic Games Store plus others

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Oktober 2025 - 11:54

Has anyone been having issues with Epic games stores recently on Lutris?

Have a few games installed but suddenly unable to run in Lutris.

Managed to find a workaround in Heroics Games Launcher but just wondering if people were having the same issue?

Proton gamers, opinion on Helldivers 2 performance?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Oktober 2025 - 11:05

Really considering to move to Proton just for Helldivers 2 because Windows performance is just complete disaster and it gets worse with every patch, 1-5 second freezes, FPS fluctuation between 40-80. Question is it running any better on Proton or its not the OS-related fault in general. If anyone don't mind, share your specs and how you feel, your FPS averages.

Mine is mid-range i5-12600k + 3060 Ti and I run 1080p so its not harsh on most of the games.
Thanks.

VRAM and upscaling doubts

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Oktober 2025 - 10:29

Hi everyone! I have a rig with a 3070 8Gb which I’m trying to use to play stuff in 4k using dlss performance. I know this is not the card to do this but it’s the screen I have and the card is old and not planning to upgrade for now. I thought with dlss performance it might work really good as the card is very capable at 1080p. The reality is, it depends on the game a lot.

Spider-Man 2 is a vram mess, even with dlss performance I think 4k takes too much vram. And I don’t understand why, how big are their buffers and post processing? The rest should be rendered at near 1080p.

Horizon forbidden west is… frustrating again, vram usage on 4k dlss performance is way higher than in 1080p, and although it works at first, after one hour vram gets filled and the game is down to 30fps.

Clair obscur seem to be fair, with dlss vram consumption is reduced (not as much as I’d expect tho). And the actual card processing power becomes an issue in high settings. Still at 1080p is way way more playable than 4k dlss performance…

I don’t understand it, I tried the same card on a windows machine and Spider-Man has no issue with 4k dlss performance.

Workaround on blue protocol star resonance

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Oktober 2025 - 10:28

I used Heroic Games Launcher. I used wine GE Latest and GE Proton Latest. I also added to Steam for controller input. While GE-Proton10-18 does work, I switched to the latest for my own reasons. No launch commands, since the heroic games launcher handles that stuff. As for the settings, I used gamemode, steam run time, anti-cheat runtime on both, and show fps. That was all I did, and it worked with gameplay feeling flawless, even after the anti-cheat update.

As for Winetricks, I just added whatever it would allow me to. I honestly did not make a list of what I added like a dumb dumb.

Versionbump to Mesa 26.0.0-devel

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Oktober 2025 - 10:28

Just noticed today, that mesa got into version 26
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/commit/e766ffccc6ad038e6db694a7e6c60a5f99f5092f

I was scrubbing through the newest commits, well most things I don't really understand as its too deep into the mesa thing, but I haven't found any ground breaking changes from 25.X to the current devel 26.0.

But things going forward!

Edit:

Tried to compile it myself - well didn't run so well :D might dig deeper into it later, might just be my setup, as llvm package via extra repos is a bit too new for the mesa-git package on aur.

Modded Skyrim weird fullscreen window on KDE Wayland

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 16. Oktober 2025 - 10:26

Hi all,

I've recently installed the Nordic Souls Skyrim wabbajack modlist using Omnig's great Jackify (highly recommend their work) and when I start the game it lunches like this, showing only the top left quarter of the screen. Unmodded Skyrim works fine, natural fullscreen. I've played other modlists in the past on Linux (Anvil, Lost Legacy, Tuxborn, etc) all without any issues. I've tweaked with the `SSEDisplayTweaks.ini` to try different combinations of fullscreen on and off, borderless or not window, resolutions, etc and nothing.

One thing that I did notice, is that if I use KDE's window menu (right click on the Skyrim window icon on the taskbar) and set `More>Fullscreen` e DOES go into fullscreen showing the game as supposed to. HOWEVER, the mouse gets stuck in the same upper left quarter of the screen (so it implies that its being captured to be there).

Has anyone had this issue? Or have any idea on how to fix it?

I'm on Endeavour OS, KDE Plasma+Wayland, Nvidia GPU (dual with iAMD).

Cheers
