Found a dumb little browser game that runs perfectly on Linux

12. Juli 2025 - 21:21

Lately I’ve been messing around with lightweight browser games just out of boredom, and I was surprised at how well some of them run on Linux without any setup.

I tried one that had simple 3D obstacle movement (nothing fancy), and it ran super smooth straight in Firefox, no Proton, no tweaks, no install. Just loaded instantly and played without issues.

It made me wonder, is it just WebGL doing all the work, or are there frameworks that tend to perform better on Linux-based browsers? Like, are some of these games using raw canvas/WebGL or something like Three.js optimized for low-end hardware?

Also, curious if anyone here has found any other web games that “just work” on Linux. Most old Flash-style games are dead or behind weird paywalls now.

Best graphical card

12. Juli 2025 - 21:18

I want to play to to some games on linux (gta 6 will release)

I want to buy a gpu, but for the same price (220€), I don't know if I should buy a RTX 3060 12 GO or a RX 6700XT

Which one is the best? Is there a better deal, or some other cards for 1080p only for less than 220€? I want them to be future proof

Is it impossible to use Joycon on Arch Linux?

12. Juli 2025 - 21:04

The problem is, under mac and Windows both the joycon and Bluetooth dongle work just fine, while on linux the joycon keeps on searching. My PC found it, I connected it, it was connected, but it kept searching and eventually disconnected from my PC.
I tried downgrading to bluez 5.64, installed joycond first then joycond-git, tried changing my kernel to lts, changed my dongle. I really do not want to go to Windows, but man, Linux lets me down this time :(

There is a way to get dxvk async back somehow?

12. Juli 2025 - 20:58

I know dxvk async is deprecated and the GPL is bazillions times better, but GPL don't help stutter in fallout new Vegas explosions, my game drops to 10fps when explosions occur. DXVK_ASYNC=1 totally fixes it, but mod organizer needs proton 8.0+ to work properly and dxvk_async only exists in proton 7.44. There is a way to get it back in newer proton versions? I heard about dxvk-gplasync but it doesn't work it seen.

Is anybody able to play Myst in VR mode after recent updates

12. Juli 2025 - 20:36

I used to be able to launch Myst remake in VR using ALVR, but after the Rime update (or possibly some follow-up updates) it just crashes to desktop after the Cyan logo with some unhelpful error.

I'm on CachyOS, NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti. Tried proton-cachyos, experimental, hotfix and 9 - same results on all of them.

Regular non-VR version launches just fine and I can even get into the game, no issues there.

Has anybody encountered that / has any ideas on how to tweak it? I've tried forcing DX11 as per this ProtonDB post but it didn't help.

Beginner question about Linux and motherboards

12. Juli 2025 - 20:31

There are hundreds of different motherboard SKUs available with varying number and types of USB ports, onboard sound and WiFi cards, not to mention the chipsets themselves. Naturally on Windows, you install drivers for these features. How is it that this is not needed for Linux?

Radmin compatible VPN apps

12. Juli 2025 - 19:41

My friends are using Radmin VPN for their Minecraft server.

Then, I just have a piece of Raspberry Pi 5. I want to transfer the main server from my pc to the Pi. So that the server can have more online time to play.

But we are using Radmin, I don't want to change a VPN app for convenience.

As I know, there is no Linux version of Radmin.

Is there any vpn is compatible with Radmin? Or do I need to change a vpn?

Can someone help me understand why my graphic card works worse after I've come out of suspend?

12. Juli 2025 - 19:07

I'm using Arch Linux and sway wm. I have an AMD GPU and CPU.

I've noticed recently that when I come out of suspend and boot up my game (Cyberpunk 2077), the game is laggy.

Downgrading the video settings helps, but the way I've found to resolve the issue is the following: switch to a workspace with Firefox, on the same monitor, then switch back to the game. Then the game runs smoothly again. This works consistently for me.

Knowing that the issue is fixed by having the monitor display another app, what could be happening here? How could I make sure it doesn't happen anymore?

I know that suspend is buggy, so I might simply stop using it, but I'd still like to see if there's any ideas.

Any tips for CS2 stretched ?

12. Juli 2025 - 18:54

I’m on cachyos and I’m trying to play CS2 in 4:3 stretched just like I do in Windows.

If I launch the game without gamescope in the launch options, it’s loading to the side of my monitor with double black bars on the right. If I launch it with gamescope my mouse is inverted both vertically and horizontally and locked into a small box.

What would be the best place to start troubleshooting ?

I Created a Wiki-Style Resource for GPU-Passthrough

12. Juli 2025 - 18:29

Hello everyone! I wanted to share something I created

a website designed in a wiki style to help people troubleshoot and resolve GPU passthrough issues. I hope it can be useful for those facing challenges with their passthrough setup.

It's been a while since I worked on this, and I'm excited to share it with you! I used Docusaurus to create it.

Does anybody have an current up-to-date custom-proton-dualsense verison?

12. Juli 2025 - 18:09

Hi guys,
Recently, I started playing The Last of Us Part 1. Apart from an outdated driver warning everything worked. But while configuring the settings, I noticed that vibrations are turned off because the DualSense sound system is deactivated. So I looked around and found this archived GitHub repository, which provided a custom Proton version with some patches applied.
I downloaded it and I have to say, the vibrations are AMAZING. From the voice to the adaptive triggers, it feels like the controller was made for this game.
Anyway, I've played around 2 hours, and I've noticed some strange texture issues. They just don't get loaded in for a very long time. I looked around some more, and apparently, there's a setting to fix that. But my setting is greyed out.
I researched again and found out, like the warning said, my driver was/were too old because of the old proton version and because of that, these settings couldn't be applied.
I returned to the repository to follow the instructions on how to build it myself for a newer Proton version.
I started the make install but got greeted by an error 2 from line 1231 in makefile.in and line 133 in makefile. I've now tried over the last few hours to fix that. With reinstalling Docker, using Podman, fixing a vkd3d issue. But to no avail. Maybe that's because I'm (using Arch, btw.) without systemd, so kind off purposely handicapping yourself ;)
Now I know this is a relatively niche issue, but maybe someone who is A) probably more competent and patient than me in compiling the Proton version and/or B) doesn't have a fucked-up system :) has a newer version (not the 8.4 version on the repository) of said patches.

Annoying issue on helldivers 2

12. Juli 2025 - 18:09

Hello all, I've recently switched to linux. I have a small problem where I can't switch to my support weapon. I have run at hold and for some reason shift + 3 doesnt register 3 as in game but 1 and 2 works. How can I solve this besides using a different key than 3 for support weapons? I couldn't find any shortcuts that use shift + 3 either. I'm on kde plasma and using cachyos if it matters

Discord PiP in a fullscreen game or fullscreen window

12. Juli 2025 - 17:37

First of all, sorry for my poor English. Let me explain my problem better: I often play the same game with a friend and I put his Discord stream on top of the game. On Windows I could easily pin the Discord window on screen, but on Bazzite/Linux KDE I don't know how to do it...Maybe the solution is very simple, but I'm a noob on Linux so I don't know how to do it. I've searched online and even asked on chatgbt, but I don't quite understand the steps. I tried to set it to "always on top", but as soon as I go to fullscreen or maximum window, it loses "priority" and goes to the bottom. I got tired of playing in the window 😔 If you have a tutorial, I'd be happy. Thanks in advance for your patience.

State of Ray Tracing in Linux?

12. Juli 2025 - 17:30

I know someone asked this about a month ago, but any drivers or tweaks that have come out to have ray tracing work better without losing so much performance compared to Windows? I use an RX 7900 XT with the RADV driver.

Limbo will be delisted from GOG on 17th Jul 2025, Steam release is likely to follow suit

12. Juli 2025 - 17:01

Limbo is a great noir puzzle platformer. It has a decent but hidden native Linux version on Steam. Legal dispute between the founders of the studio seems to be causing delisting of Limbo and Inside.
