Help With a Mod For Resident Evil 4 (Lutris, Quacked)
I have downloaded a mod that uses dlls and it is asking me to add launch args on steam, but i don't own the game on steam. I followed guides from the mod page and it's comments and also old threads here in this sub but nothing solved my problem.
They told me to use these launch args: WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%
Using: lutris-proton-ge (latest)
The error says: "This version of Resident Evil 4 is not supported, disabling re4_tweaks"
I've tried reinstalling the mod and game but had no luck.

Screen Tearing and Input Lag on Ubuntu Wayland
Spent the last couple of days trying to fix this. In Dead Space Remake screen tearing makes the game almost unplayable. In Lethal Company tearing is not as bad, but input lag is terrible. Some desktop applications, like VSCode, have considerable input lag as well. I tried lethal company and deadspace on Proton Experimental and Proton 9.2.
Some applications, like Chrome and Factorio, run perfectly, so its not just a hardware problem.
Anybody else experiencing this? Most of the fixes I found online were for X or driver 535 and are no longer applicable. I just find alot of people saying "Wayland will fix all of this" lol.
System Info:
- Ubuntu 24.01 (Wayland)
- Nvidia RTX 4060 (550 proprietary driver)
- Ryzen 5 7040U
- 32GB DDR5 4600 Ram

[Steam Deck] How to improve/debug standby battery drain?
My current addiction, Warcraft 2 Remastered. I didn't want to be a Blizz groupie, but W2 was the first RTS that I've played so, gotta grab this. Lutris setup for BattleNet worked like a charm.
Frame Generation in Linux is here!

The support for it is here on proton experimental!

METAL GEAR SURVIVE
Booted this up after not playing it for 2 years, but now it seems to be broken. In the main menu i cannot select options, but everything else works. If i press Esc, it ask me if want to skip a cutscene, even though there is no cutscene playing... it's the main menu. If i hit skip, the screen jsut turns black and doesn't come back, but the audio still works. I thought maybe it was jsut a minor bug so i reset the game and then from the main menu jsut hit continue. The game booted up fine, i can get in game and run around and control my character... but there is no HUD whatsoever; and im still getting the same problem. If i press Esc, even when there is nothing going on; the game just ask me if i want to skip the cutscene. If i hit skip, same issue the screen jsut goes black and i can't do anything except audio still plays. Anyone have any idea whats going on here?

What to do about Vulcan shaders
I feel like this is pretty self explanatory by the title, but nonetheless I would like to know if there's ANYTHING besides switching to windows that would improve my game loading time. I've already done the basic background processing thing that everyone talks about, if it helped I didn't notice it. I did notice my games do Hella bug out if I don't let shaders load.
Any advice would be awesome, if it's the same old answer "there's nothing at all" that's just what I get for running nobara I guess XD

Have steam exit when game exits
When I start a Steam game using steam steam://rungameid/<id>, Steam stays open after I exit the game. Is there some way to get Steam to exit automatically?

DRASTICALLY High FPS On Fedora vs Windows 11?
I was playing around with Fedora on one of my spare PCs and noticed something when I opened Borderlands 2, my FPS was astronomically higher than my main PC with Win11
I think it’s important to mention specs here because that’s an even crazier aspect in this situation to me
Main PC RTX 4080 Super Ryzen 7 2700X 32GB Ram Win11 ≈155fps
Fedora PC RTX 2070 i5 11400f 16GB Ram Fedora 41 KDE GE-Proton9-20 gamemoderun %command% -window-mode exclusive ≈380FPS????
Both are using identical settings and resolution, I even turned PhysX completely off on the main PC just in case that’s what was killing it and there was essentially zero difference

How do I install Vkd3d-proton for system wine?
I am running a very potato pc where the APU is borrowing memory from my ram, So even opening lutris effects game performance. So I wanted to setup system wine with vkd3d-proton. I have read the installation instructions in the github page and tried installing accordingly but every time I get an error and games don't load. I am very new to this so can someone please provide a simple noob-friendly guide to installing Vkd3d-Proton for system wine? I am running Arch Linux. Thank you!

GOverlay (Troubleshooting)
I'm having an issue with the overlay and which setting I should be enabling for certain games. I'm only playing steam games so should I enable both vulkan and OpenGL or set them both to unlocked?

HL2:DM Is crashing when I click play.
So when half life 2 turned free I instantly downloaded it on steam, with the Death match mode. The hl2 and entropy zero works completely fine, but deathmatch craches when I click play... (I am on Ubuntu 24.04 LTS)

Issues with Steam Input with ps4 controller
Hello everyone I’ve recently dual-booted mint 22 and everything is working great minus a couple of things
I’ve gotten the steam input working on the settings side (the rumble and buttons show that they are being detected and react when I press them) however whenever I try to play Sekiro with steam input enabled it doesn’t work at all. At first the A button worked and the looking around worked but nothing else did. I fiddled with my settings and now nothing works
I’ve researched and have seen sc-controller and tried to use it but I believe since I’m running mint 22 with the updated kernel it isn’t needed
Another thing is when I try to configure the controller settings for the game itself, it just shows a blank screen. However if I disconnect the controller the display works and says that steam input isn’t enabled but I’ve enabled it in the game properties
I’m kinda at a loss of what to do in order to fix it as a lot of the stuff I’ve seen online seems to be outdated
I’ve tried different proton versions but nothing worked
Another issue I’ve been having is that steam on the first start up the web helper thing ALWAYS crashes first try but if I just pick the option to restart steam it’ll run with no issues. Might be unrelated to my current issue but I thought that maybe this could be part of it
Oh and I installed steam using the deb file. Not the flatpak
I hope that I’ve provided enough info for someone to help as this is driving me a little crazy lol

Elitedesk g2 capabilities
Found a killer deal on an elitedesk g2 mini pc
i7 6th gen 6700t 16gb ram 512 SSD Intel HD graphics 530
I have no idea about Linux or emulators or pcs or anything but I want to learn, this will be my entrance into hardware/software mod and teaching myself to code
What's the best way to config this to emulate up to ps1 and N64 games?
Where do people find the games?
How would this do with Kodi?
Also, what do I do about virus and malware protection?

ARM is hyped but it's not a good choice for PC gaming
Why? Because ARM has several big limitations compared to x86. UEFI is not a mandatory standard on ARM processors and there are mostly no ACPI either, with each vendor doing its own thing leading to vendor locking. You normally won't be able to install another OS on an ARM computer because drivers etc. are different. You guys want to see ARM gaming computers but it is not what we should be going for. Let it be for what it's good at: power efficient laptops for those who simply need basic browsing, word processing etc. For the rest and power users, we should never move to ARM.
