basically, im using linux mint 22.1 with an nvidia gpu

i try to run an exe (either non steam or bought on steam)

and it runs for a few frames and then freezes. it detects input during that time, and even after it freezes audio continues playing as normal? i tried it on DELTARUNE and celeste. i dont know what is causing this, please help

So I've seen this asked in the past, and I basically found some cool people to follow, but I was wondering if there's any recent streamers that use Linux to stream? Especially one's that either stream Linux specific-games, or podcast-focused ones?

I myself decided to switch to streaming on CachyOS from Windows and been learning along the way and mastering some tips and tricks, including using EasyEffects for audio sources and my mic.

Basically, just literally wondering if there's anyone else I should check out?

I recently switched to linux for good and for some reason, steam download speeds fluctuate like crazy as seen in the picture. I have a 500 mbps internet connection and when I download games on windows through steam the speed is rock solid at around 60 MB/s, however on linux the speed can go from 60-63 MB/s all the way to like 5 for really no reason. My CPU doesn't even come close to being the issue (as in the decompression of the download) so I really can't put my finger on what the issue is. If anyone has relevant info please let me know. (Sorry if my English is bad)

Hi everyone.

I recently switched from Windows 10 to Fedora 42 KDE Desktop and I have an issue with some Steam games that don't launch.

I installed Steam from the RPM Fusion repo, not from Flathub.

Some games work fine, like Undertale, Civilization V, Slipstream and apps like Aseprite or Godot Engine. But others (and I fear most of my game library) don't, like Rocket League, Lethal Company, TES III Morrowind, Balatro, etc...

They actually launch but then stop by themselves without any error or crash report, so I have absolutely no clue what's wrong.

I tried using Proton-GE instead of Proton, I checked if some dependencies (vulkan, gcc, libSomething, libWhatever, etc...) were missing and all packages are already installed and up to date.

By looking at the compatibility tab in Steam's settings it looks like some options are missing, like enabling/disabling Steam Play or choosing Steam Linux Runtime. But when I look at my storage, all 3 versions of Steam Linux Runtime are installed.

The most confusing is that I play some of these games on Steam Deck and they work fine, like Balatro or Trackmania.

I made a screen capture so you can see exactly the problem.

In case anybody is still interested in (re)playing this little gem, Journey, I could not find info on this issue myself:

If you launch the game and rumble works, then good for you. If vibration stops working or never worked then keep reading; I found that as soon as you enter the controller config menu and change/save anything, rumble will stop working. This does not happen in MS Windows from my tests, and weirdly enough, although they share the same config file (Journey.cfg), seems like the rumble issue doesnt get triggered if you only change graphic settings.

Rumble fix: open the Journey.cfg file where the game config is stored (if you dont know where this file is located, check the game's PCGW link above), change Rumble="false" to Rumble="true", restart the game, pretty easy right? Well it took me several days to figure this out, I hope it saved you time!

Estou querendo fazer uma migração de sistema, pois não aguento mais o win, não dá pra att pro win11, não aceita drivers, cheguei a testar o fedora silverblue por recomendação de um grande amigo, mas o fedora me apresentava um problema, em zonas de muitos players dava lag, tempo de resposta das ações do personagem atrasava, o que me obrigava a jogar solo a maior parte das vezes, voltei pro win só pra ter a ctz que era problema de configuração, dito isso, tem como a gente arrumar? tem outra variação do fedora que seja melhor que o silverblue? tipo o kinoite ou um dos atomics?

I have been wanting more and more to switch to Linux as having malware uh sorry windows installed is seeming less and less like the smart thing to do in the age of more and more digital surveillance I have seen that gaming is pretty well supported on Linux with some minor but fixable issues here and there but my biggest question is what about brand new games for example can I play bf6 on release?

I am in the process of converting a Windows 10 PC (no official upgrade to Windows 11 possible) to Linux. Arch-based distributions have been recommended to me several times because of cutting-edge software. Now the question. Manjaro or Endeavor? The PC is mainly used for photo and video editing as well as for Office. Hardware is the following:

Asus H110M-A/M2 motherboard 16GB RAM NVIDIA Geforce 960 Intel i7-6700k.

Debian 13 on acer

hello I have an Acer Nitro 5 and I really want to install Debian 13 on it (specifically Debian 13 out of my stupidity), but they say it has problems with Nvidia. I was thinking of installing kde plasma, and the dependencies to play on steam. Taking into account that I have an i7 11ava, 32GB of ram and the RTX3050. and I have to leave a dual boot on another m.2 with win11 just to use the university's design software. Do you think the laptop supports it? I'm willing to sit down for a few hours to configure everything, but how cumbersome would it be?
