Small issues I've been having with sleep

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 30. Januar 2025 - 17:52

I've read a few articles on this now and it seems it's Nvidia issues. I'm on bazzite is there any fix for this. I have to F3 F2 to get picture after sleep and sometimes after going to sleep the PC immediately starts back up in some weird loop every 10 minutes. In addition if I start my PC without my monitor on first I will be greated by no output. Both of these were a issue on arch and fedora stock as well. Otherwise been a great experience.

I can't run Steam Games on Fedora linux

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 30. Januar 2025 - 17:21

Hi everyone, I switched to Linux (fedora) a few months ago, so, i know absolutely nothing about gaming on linux. Recently, I wanted to try some simple games on it (I have an i5 7th gen, 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, and Intel UHD 620). I decided to go with Half-Life 2. The game's main screen starts normally, but when I hit 'Start Game,' I get this error after the loading screen. are there any solutions?

I've been using Nobara for a year now. Looking for a change. Should i switch?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 30. Januar 2025 - 16:23

I like to keep my desktop always running a "gaming distro" or anything along those lines with all the drivers and knick knacks, and i've been searching on and off for something else. Nobara is great, but i always wanted something more like Ubuntu, something that felt more like home. Been looking into a few but cant make my mind, seeing as most threads i see about it are at least a year old. Anybody got any suggestions?

The Finals not working

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 30. Januar 2025 - 16:10

So I heard The Finals is supposed to work fine on linux and it's what everyone on protondb seems to say so I tried to download it. It boots up fine and I can go into practice range with great perf but whenever I try to start a game of quick cash the game freezes on the loading screen (where it shows the map and the game mode) even worse, it freezes my whole pc (can't even change tty) and i have to press the power button to start to power off process or else i can't do anything.

PC Info :
Distro : EndeavourOS
WM : Hyprland 0.47.0-2
Kernel : Linux 6.12.10-arch1-1
CPU : Intel Core i5-12450H
GPU : Nvidia RTX 4060
Driver : nvidia-dkms 565.77-3

I tried both Proton 9.0-4 and Proton Hotfix
And here are the launch options I used : gamemoderun LD_PRELOAD="" PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1 SDL_VIDEODRIVER='windows' %command%

gamescope crashes immediately (VkResult: -7)

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 30. Januar 2025 - 15:35

Hey guys, newbie here.

I was initially trying to run CS2 without using gamescope, but I encountered numerous resolution and refresh rate problems.

I use an external monitor that supports 100 hz refresh rate, but CS will only let me chose either 60 or 75 hz when non-native aspect ratio or resolution is selected. I have a pretty low-end hardware (Ryzen 6650U with Radeon 660M iGPU) so running it in native res is clearly not an option for me. And it also changes resolution and refresh rate in the system display settings and does not change it back when the game is closed.

So I started looking for the solution, and I found it - gamescope. Unfortunately, it immediately crashes after attempting to launch any game.

Here's the command I used when attempting to launch Stardew Valley (both inside terminal and steam with steam://rungameid/x replaced with %command%):

gamescope -W 1280 -H 720 -- steam://rungameid/82712

And I get the following error, no matter what parameters I use (native res, full screen, refresh rate set to 100, etc.):

[gamescope] [Info] console: gamescope version 3.16.1 (gcc 14.2.1)

No CAP_SYS_NICE, falling back to regular-priority compute and threads.
