I'm using Wayland on my Laptop and it's great for touchpads! But unfortunately it's not ready for gaming yet.

With openSUSE Tumbleweed updating its Nvidia driver version to 570.86.16 I decided to test Wayland on my gaming pc. Literal disaster:

My Setup: Nvidia 3070 (570.86.16 driver), KDE Plasma 6.2.5, openSUSE Tumbleweed 20250128, 1x 1920x1080 144hz G-Sync compatible screen (primary, DP), 1x 1920x1080 144hz screen (DP -> DVI-D).

- The cursor is absolutely not smooth. The whole system feels slightly "unsmooth" (a tiny bit laggy), but it's most noticeable for the mouse cursor.

- Enabling Adaptive Sync for my primary screen (the reason why you would use Wayland over X11 for gaming, isn't it?) makes the cursor a disaster. It's lagging terrible, jumping over the screen. 100% unusable.

- Games couldn't detect my refresh rate. With V-Sync enabled or in main menus, if the game locks the fps to the refresh rate, everything was capped to 59 fps.

Unfortunately no matter the great changes in Nvidia 570.86.16, Wayland isn't ready for gaming yet.

Hello friends, hope you all being gaming nice and smooth.

I have being using Arch for 2 years now and decided to build a PC in december last year (I've always have laptops) and installed windows for the less tinkering possible, since then I had always the remorse of using windows so yesterday I decided to go back to linux.

The problem starts here, I know the compatibility issues from this change but I checked the games I play and for possible future acquisitions and there is no real game for me to get affected. So I installed Arch just to find out that steam downloads rates are excessively bad, getting like 20-30mbps when I have a 1Gbps connection. I checked already with SpeedTest and I'm getting my max download rate, so no problem there. I'm installing in an M.2 Nvme drive so no problem there I suppose, so...

I tried everything that I could find on reddit, Arch Wiki, Arch Forums and even Debian forums and I still cannot find a way to fix this, I've already tried:

• Changing the http2 setting.
• Changing the connection limit setting.
• Disabling ipv6.
• Setting dnsmasq.
• Using flatpack instead of pacman.
• Changing to the steam beta channel.

None of this had worked for me and I'm feeling frustrated cuz I want to use my machine but I don't want to wait days for my games to get installed.

Hope you can help me, I know I'm stupid but I tried everything and I really need help.

Even though FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH is rated as Steam Deck Verified, it did launch with some problems on Linux / Steam Deck but Valve's Proton developers are moving quickly to improve it.

The only lead I have is that I used a 64 bit wine prefix to run wine.cfg on winetricks and added in an override library for a different game's compatibility troubleshooting yesterday. But it doesn't make any sense that it would break it when I already undid that expecting remove the override would solve things.

Hello, Im currently in the process of swapping from windows to linux, since im using linux a lot for my work. However when i built my pc, i chose a lot of RGB items. NZXT Glass Case with 7 Fans + NZXT liquid cooler with 2 fans. All controlled by the nzxt rgb controller. I tried to use openrgb but it failed with the fans and i dont know how to configure the program. SignalRGB worked. This was all on Windows.

I really want to swap to Linux, but i dont know how to overcome the issue. My last idea was to use a Windows VM with the only purpose of controlling SignalRGB. Do you have experience with this or maybe know a better solution?

I play via steam, on linux. I currently only have borderlands 2 installed so I can't see if the issue is with BL2 or the controller. Is it a common issue?

For some context: when I don't use the right analog stick, after a while it acts like if it is slightly pushed up, moving the camera up very slowly. I don't think it's a drifting problem, or it would do it always, meanwhile this happens after a few seconds that i don't use it.

I was tired of always having to look up a game's appid to find it's prefix, so I wrote a small python script to scan through your steam install, and create a symbolic link to all of your games' prefixes.

It works by scanning your entire home directory looking for your steam install, if multiple are detected it will ask you which one you want to use (or all of them). Then it will create a symbolic link to the game's prefix, named after the game instead of the appid.

Background: AMD CPU/GPU. Fedora 40.

I would call it a hard crash, but that may not technically be accurate, because oddly when the game/PC freezes, I can still hear the music playing, and USB devices still seem to be connecting/disconnecting. But for all intents and purposes, the PC is hosed, because none of the emergency commands (Ctrl+Alt+F2, etc) seem to work. I have to power cycle.

Hello fam

Has anyone been able to get Tekken 7 working on Fedora 41 ? It runs fine for the first time but then, if I quit and relaunch, it crashes after a while.

If I relaunch the game after clearing its corresponding compatdata folder, it runs fine. Is there any workaround for this problem ?

I have stellaris on steam, i recently transitioned from windows to mint, so far it works and nothing is on fire

But there is an issue, stellaris runs really damn slow, like half second lag even in menus before starting a game

I run it through Proton 9.0-4, i know its linux native, but is there a way to make it run good without linux native version? Because i have this one specific thing due which i need to have it in windows version
