Having problems launching Marvel Rivals
2 questions
So, I've been using my PC as a console for the last 2 months or so, with gamescope-session, and I've been asking myself how to adjust the wattage, and if it's even doable. That's the first question Let's go on with the second one: I've got The Witcher 3 from GOG that works flawlessly on KDE, but doesn't recognize my controller on gamescope-session.

New to gaming on Linux
Hi, so I am new to gaming on linux (Pop! os) and new to linux in general. I am familiar with proton and i know how to play steam games on linux (even the ones not natively supported) but how do i run games from other launchers for example: rockstar games, epic games, origin, ea, battle.net etc. And also what are some popular games that i can/cant play on linux?

State of Gaming with an Intel ARC A770 GPU
Last year I bought an ARC A770 when building my new PC. I thought buying a better one, but I said what the heck, let's give Intel a chance. And I was surprised. I play on debian testing, very stable with the advantage of recent packages and mostly recent kernels. Most of my games ran out-of-the-box, for the other ones I made my own fixes (If anyone interested for the Spiderman Remastered one, go DM). Of course I tried the Xe driver in the months following, and oh boy, nothing was working, Helldivers 2 was a black screen and Baldur's Gate 3 wouldn't even launch.
So in the midst of the recent unveiling of the next series, I wanted to retry the Xe driver, so I made a custom grub kernel entry with the good command line options, and... AMAZING. Finally, the long awaited messiah, the working driver with great performances. I tested Atomic Heart, Baldur's Gate 3, Helldivers 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Marvel's Spiderman Remastered. None of them reached the limit of my machine. So, for anyone interested, here is the benchmark for Horizon: Zero Dawn. Sorry the french language (baguette), but you will manage, I'm sure of it.
Of course it's not Windows, It's just run through Proton, duh

HZD Remastered Trouble - 3 hours in with no playtime
This is my last ditch effort. I've been trying to play HZD the remastered version since launch and I can not get it to run on my system. I'm running Ubuntu with a 7900xt so it should be more than powerful enough to run. I've tried installing the latest proton 2.1, changing the launch options to what was mentioned in the steam discussions, but nothing seems to work. At this point i'm not even sure i'm doing the right troubleshooting steps. I can get to the menu screen but it will not start the game when I try to continue or start a new game. I have like 3 hours clocked on the game with no actual playtime. Can someone please help walk me through any ts steps? ATP i'm desperate.

Thrustmaster T.Flight Hotas X suddenly stops working properly
I own the mentioned flight stick mainly for simulators and arcade games, like Ace Combat 7, Project Wingman or DCS: World. Recently, it has been behaving in a way that is stopping me from playing those games properly. The flight stick itself doesn't show up in KDE System Settings anymore, and the Throttle Rocker and Stick Twist axes are not detected at all by any games. Running cat /dev/input/js0 and moving those axes fills my terminal with some data, so the stick itself is definitely sending information on those two inputs, just that something in the OS doesn't process them properly. Any advice as to how I can get it to work again?
Edit: Those two axes worked flawlessly before and I could manage the stick in KDE System Settings without issues. Haven't played in a while so I can't say for certain when it stopped working.

Deadly Premonition - Director's Cut PC - nightmare to launch
I am trying to play this game on linux, knowingly that it's BRONZE rating on protondb.
The game is a nightmare to make it run even on Windows but I read the game runs more stable on Wine/Proton.
This game is old, uses pre-rendered cut-scenes so GE-PROTON or enable pre-caching on steam for Proton.
People say to use Proton-3.16-9 and install all the right dependencies (quartz, qedit, devenum, wmp9 and apply: vc1decoder.verb)
While this does work the FPS is unstable can't even lock it. The more FPS the game has the more crazier the physics go. Can't lock it with gamescope, mangohud, DXVK_FRAME_RATE.
Also using DPfix mod (improves resolutions and graphics) while the mod will attach, the load times are very slow.
So I tried GE-PROTON9-20. With no dependencies, the game turns on, plays the opening video with no sounds but PROTON_AUDIO_CONVERT_BIN=0 %command% - will make the audio play. But after the cut-scene or skipping it, the game crashes.
Applied WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=b" %command%. The game doesn't crash but missing partial sound effects and music.
Next step I applied to GE-PROTON9-20 same dependencies like for Proton 3.16-9. The game launches but cut-scenes are black but audio works perfectly. Also DPfix mod works correctly and it does not effect load times. Also FPS is stable 60, perfect.
So in sense I have no idea how to play this classic on Linux in stable environment. I think the issue is converting video calls or maybe even sound.
Proton Experimental is worse than GE-PROTON.
I also tried to install WMP11 but same black cut-scenes.
Does anyone else might have an idea?

making linux as close as possible to windows?
i tried out linux with a ubuntu VM and absolutely despised it. i've heard about wine and proton and would be willing to try out if i can customize it to look almost identical to windows 10/11. as in, the file structure, the task manager layout, commands.
and can i just plug and play my games without having to do anything? i do a ton of modding on my games (truck sim, gta, flight sim). i've heard mac's cannot run dx9/11/12 nor read .dds's without a ton of conversions. does linux have the same shortfalls?
i dont want customizability, i dont want to have to do everything via terminal. i just want a de-bloated version of windows.

Is It Possible To Run Old Windows Games On Linux From Discs? (I'm Still on Windows 10) Searching for Linux Distro.
Hi, I'm still on Windows 10, but looking for Linux Distro; before Windows 10 end of life. I was wondering if there's any Linux Distro, that supports gaming through old Windows Game Discs. For example I currently have Rise and Fall Civilizations at War by Midway and Lord of the Rings the Battle for Middle Earth I and II.
I currently have a feeling it's not possible, for any Linux Distro to play any of the listed examples through Old Windows Game Discs. If any, but I'm greatly unsure. I never used Linux and nor have I gamed on Linux before.
Also with Rise and Fall Civilizations at War by Midway. I believe it's impossible to run given the fact I think (not sure) security feature built into the game. I just hope I'm wrong and is possible. Many thanks in advance.

Hello! I'm debating on switching to linux, it's been years since I used any linux os. I was wondering what distro i should use? In my case all I need to be able to do is play games, record games, and edit videos/images.

Goodbye Windows, Hello Arch!
After 5 years with a Win10 rig, I decided to build a SFF AMD rig. After shopping around different distros I landed on Garuda KDE, an Arch Linux build with KDE Plasma desktop environment. I couldn’t be happier, everything runs fast and smooth, and I don’t get any annoying pop-ups or ads. Even installing new programs and packages is far more straightforward than windows ever seemed. Currently playing Satisfactory, Valheim, Space Marine 2, and GR:Wildlands, and KSP1. Overall it seems that these games use far fewer resources than they would on Windows, and run very smoothly.
Ive had a few issues with getting Easy AntiCheat to work though, if anybody has advice I’d love to hear it.
