Plutonium BO2 Multiplayer stuck on “Connecting to Online Service” (Fedora + Steam Proton)
trying to run Plutonium BO2 multiplayer on Fedora (GNOME) through Steam using Proton, but it keeps getting stuck on “Connecting to Online Service.”
It randomly works once every blood moon, but 99% of the time it just stays on that screen forever.
What I’ve tried:
Different Proton versions (including Proton GE)
Launch options:
DXVK_ASYNC=1 PROTON_NO_FSYNC=1 PROTON_NO_ESYNC=1 %command%
Disabling firewall completely
Reinstalling Plutonium
Reinstalling the game files
Zombies works consistently
Any help would be appreciated <3

CS2 gives black screen after setting graphics to medium
I was playing CS2, and decided I wanted to bump my graphics up a little. The game proceeded to crash, and only plays audio on launch. I have reinstalled, removed settings data, and tried many launch options. I am on Fedora Linux 43 with a Nvidia GTX 1650, Ryzen 7 5700G, 32GB of RAM, and an 850W Corsair power supply.

Gaming in Linux mint is difficult
I have tried. I really have. I keep my system updated. I install nothing "unofficial" I read manuals and i google when shit breaks. But holy fuck gaming on mint has been a shitfest for me. I usually play: Cities Skylines, Train simulators etc etc. And all this random crashing i have gives me gray hairs.
I can't figure it out. I will soon cave in and have a dedicated windows gaming rig instead.

Finally ditched the Discord's .deb installation in favour of the Flatpak. I am a free man.
I'm also aware of the option of editing discord/settings.json but I just can't be bothered to do that anymore.

How to partition storage drive?
I’m trying to add a new NVMe drive to use it as steam storage. I would also like to have a smal place on it for my other files.
How should I partition it and do I need to? What if I just add it to Steam and use it as library and then drop files there too?

Help me
Hello, I'm looking for a good OS (not Windows), preferably free. I've tried Archcraft, Cachy OS, Garuda, BlendOS, NebiOS, Nobara, Windows 10/11, and Endvours. I'm looking for a distribution for 4-6 hours of revision for my STI2D (SIN option) technical baccalaureate, 10-12 hours of gaming, 6-8 hours of development (in Rust, Java, and other languages), and 4-6 hours of reading. I'd like your opinion on Garuda with apx and containers, using Arch for development. My desktop environment will be a fusion of Gnome and Celestial Shell, and in 1-2 years, I'll have my own desktop environment in Rust.

Steam download speed
I'm using an MT7922 and my download speeds are normal with Firefox and apt etc. but with Steam I'm getting eight times slower speed than I should. steam -tcp doesn't work. I also tried with a different adapter, but the problem is with Steam. I tried the Ankara, Istanbul, and Frankfurt servers one by one. I tried all three versions: the one I downloaded from the web site, the one from Flatpak, and the one from the distros repositories; the result was the same.

How well is gaming on Linux in 2026?
Hi, I've been using W11 for a while now and I'm thinking of switching to Linux for a variety of reasons.
Problem is, I'm mostly a gamer, and I've heard not so good things about native game support on Linux, and how it's still growing but performance and compatibility are still major challenges.
My question is, would it still be worth it to switch to Linux? Or wait it out until it's a bit more polished? Or maybe settle in-between by making a list of games I'm interested in playing, and seeing if they're compatible on certain Linux versions?

Where does OS go? Nvme or SATA?
W do you install OS? Is NVMe better for some reason or an old SATA ssd will do?
I’m planning on using new NVMe for Steam library only and install os on old SATA ssd.

Experiencing micro stutters in Steam games
Hey there,
A couple of weeks ago I got an old computer from my GF because she upgraded to something newer. I never really owned a desktop PC before. I worked on MacBooks for over 12 years because I did a lot of music production / audio engineering. I bought a Windows 11 laptop somewhere around October last year, not realizing that Windows 11 was so incredibly **** nowadays. So I got interested in Linux. I use the old computer from my GF now as a fun project computer iwth OpenSUSE Tumbleweed, and for my daily personal use, like email and stuff like that, so I can keep that off my Windows machine.
When I got this machine the specs where as following:
16GB 2133mhz DDR4
GTX 1060
i5-6600k
Like I said, I have no clue what I'm doing, but I decided to upgrade it to something better. Its a project computer so why not. I got online and bought a second hand GPU and some faster RAM. The setup now is as following:
16GB 3200mhz DDR4
RX 6600 XT
i5-6600k
This setup works pretty fine, I tested some games and it runs pretty good overall. I already spend some time playing games from my Steam library. Although I do encounter microstutters in almost all of the games. It is playable though, not so annoying or bad that I want to turn the game off, but I was wondering what the problem could be and how I can fix it. My guess is that the CPU is just too old and can't keep up with the rest of the newer installed hardware, creating a bottleneck. I am looking for a motherboard with and AMD AM4 socket, so I can put in a 5600x later down the line. But am I correct with my assumption, or is there some other setting that I'm not aware of? I already tried playing around with different settings in games. I can get it to a sweet spot most of the time, but the tiny stutters are there.
