Power Management Issues

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 11 Stunden 23 Minuten

Hello I have been having issues with my computer crashing after leaving it on for an extended period of time. I've been having this issue in both Fedora and Arch, requiring turning off my computer through the PSU power switch which as you can imagine isn't exactly great for my hardware. Normally I just turn off my PC but in the age of the 100GB game I'm often required to just leave the Computer running overnight to download.

Fix misplaced cursor positioning when opening GUIs in Minecraft (Flatpak) (Prism-Launcher)

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 12 Stunden 30 Minuten

If you play Minecraft on Linux, you probably encountered the misplaced cursor problem: you open a GUI/Menu/Interface, and for some reason, the cursor is on the side of the screen, so u move it to the center, then, later, open another menu... now it's in the corners.

It's a problem that just recently catched my attention, as it got progressively frustating to deal with. So, now that I finally fixed it, I'm making this post, so other players may find it useful for fixing their own games.

NOTE: I use the PrismLauncher, from Flatpak/Flathub. You probably use another one, and this little guide may work to you, but here, I'm gonna do an extra step, so Prism users will have a better experience.

The direct solution: gamescope

gamescope, a software tool made by Valve, has the key feature that will allow us to fix the cursor problem: --force-grab-cursor, an extra parameter that will handle the mouse by it's relative positioning (or that's what I understand that it does), making the game, practically, handle it's own "cursor".

I played with it a little bit, and saw that, when used TAB to change to another application different from the game, there was a "copy" of my cursor inside Minecraft's screen, weird, but ok I guess.

The guide:

First, you may install gamescope, you can do it by your distribution's package manager (recommended), or even build it from source (valve's github).

Then, once installed, in order to use gamescope with prism-launcher u can use the command: gamescope --force-grab-cursor -- flatpak run org.prismlauncher.PrismLauncher

An instance of gamescope will then be launched containing the prism-launcher instance, which u can use normally, and thus will launch minecraft inside gamescope.

If u use PrismLauncher from outside Flatpak, u can also contain it inside gamescope, the command will be something like: gamescope --force-grab-cursor -- PRISM_LAUNCHER_COMMAND. Please note that I didn't use the exact command, as I actually don't know how to launch the normal prism launcher, srry... but u get the point!

There is however a very problematic thing over here: as the prism instance is launched inside gamescope, the GUI will probably get resized, blurry, and very disgusting to look at for long times... So, that's why the EXTRA STEP: make PrismLauncher manage the gamescope instance himself.

You see, there is an interesting feature of this launcher, and it is the wrapper-command, a setting option which will use an extra command at the sime time as the launcher starts the minecraft instance (that's why it's a wrapper), allowing us to insert the gamescope's command just there.

There are still a problem however, for the flatpak users, gamescope needs to exist inside flatpak to actually be useful.

In order to install it use the command: flatpak install gamescope, AND THEN SELECT THE OPTION 24.08, because there are many versions to choose, and the version 24.08 is the default one, practically the one that stands as the "base" (and the one that I used and worked for me, you may use another one if u encounter a problem, if u desire).

Once installed, u can check it's existance using flatpak list.

And now, as the final thing to do, we will open PrismLauncher normally, select the game instance that u want to use with gamescope, and select Edit -> Configuration -> Custom Commands -> and then check the Custom Commands box. Down there will be the "wrapper command" field, in which u will enter the EXACT command: gamescope --force-grab-cursor -- , and EVEN include a white space at the end of the "--", you may not see it, but it must be there, as the normal script literally uses ...grab-cursor -- flatpak..., so, ADD IT, just to prevent problems in the near future.

Now you can exit the settings, and hopefully launch the game using gamescope.

Extra takes:

- You may want to maximize the screen, because having a different GUI dimension could make it look weird.

- Also, in the game's graphics settings, enable fullscreen, so Minecraft can adapt to gamescope.

- And, if the game interfaces are too big/small for you, change the interface size setting from "auto" to "2x" (for some reason it worked for me... nice)

- If you find this little guide useful, or maybe wrong at some point, please note me :D

Ubisoft connect not working

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 14 Stunden 25 Minuten

I already gave up of playing an Ubisoft game in Linux after 4 days reading and watching ways to play it on Linux, I just tried lutris, and I won't lie, I'm too lazy to try bottles and other methods yet, but I want to maybe find out why it didn't work I got Ubisoft connect, it downloaded, it runs, but it wouldn't download games, I tried changing the direct folder, or detect/connect with games that I downloaded via steam, so my far cry collection, will all sit until I try again or dual boot(unlikely) but someone knows why it wouldn't work? I didn't find anything more than "wine in ge_proton" or Ubisoft connect itself not downloading

autoscope - A script to automate gamescope resolution selection.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 15 Stunden 39 Minuten

Hey everyone! I have had a longstanding issue with GNOME where my mouse cursor escapes from my full-screen games if I move the cursor quickly and click at the same time... In an effort to find a solution, I was suggested gamescope to solve this problem! While this worked well, I frequently swap between gaming on my laptop display (1920x1200) and my monitors (2560x1440). This of course led to me being required to constantly change the resolution of my display in my steam launch command and in my opinion was not a viable solution. As such, I created this script which detects the true resolution of your primary display and feeds it into a gamescope launch command and runs said command. This completely automates the process of fiddling with resolution values in your steam launch commands and allows you to simply run "autoscope %command%". This is my first time creating and running a github repo and project so if I made any mistakes please lmk so I can fix them over time!

Check it out!! https://github.com/calebjarrell2006/autoscope

Where Winds Meet Steam Overlay Issue

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 15 Stunden 49 Minuten

Does anyone know how to solve that issue? Whenever I try to buy something at the in-game shop or open the in-game browser to answer a survey, nothing happens. Sometimes, the game stops receiving keyboard input after that. I also can't access the steam overlay, which I think might be the reason these things are happening, even if I enable it...

Halo MCC conecting to transport service

I've been struggling trying to play Halo MCC online in my new instalation of arch. I can't get past this message, no matter how much time I wait.

I've tried everything i found in internet, installing firewalld, opening ports, enabling ipv6, relogging, reinstalling, deleting files in the steam folder, using different versions of proton, but nothing seems to work for me.

Curious thing is, that exactly on december 25, online worked perfectly, but just one specific time I opened the game, then later that day, same message appeared and nothing past that.

Has someone else had have this kind of problem? I'll apreciate the help very much.
If some neccesary info of my system is missing, let me know, I'm not used to post for help D:

Amd BC 250 with CPU Cooler

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 15 Stunden 58 Minuten

Here is my take on the AMD BC-250, removed the stock heat sink, replaced the thermal paste, 3D printed a CPU Cooler mount, zip tied everything together and the board is running at 55-60 Degrees top in Cyberpunk 1080p High/Ultra at 58 FPS :

- Thermalright SI-100 CPU Air Cooler (Amazon)

- SKYWINDINTL Flex PC PSU 400W (AliExpress)

- CPU Fan mount (3D printed)

I’m designing a new mount for the FAN because that one press on some SMD resistor on the board, and could get some adjustments, printing now.

I’m also working on a case that put everything together with USB and power button on the front panel.

CPU Fan mount that I used here :

FSR Framegen missing?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 16 Stunden 15 Minuten

A couple days ago I put together a Bazzite “steam machine” to be used as a living room console. Been having a lot of fun with it. It is a 3700x with a rx7700 16gb (non xt). Interesting GPU that’s only available as an oem I’m pretty sure, bought it from a guy that took it out of a prebuilt.

I’m having one issue. In arc raiders I have no FSR framegen option available to turn on. It’s running pretty good at a locked 4k60, but I wouldn’t mind trying to get 120 with framegen.

Am I doing something wrong? Is it my hardware? Is it a limitation with Bazzite? Is it Arc Raiders fault? I haven’t gotten to test any other games yet to see if it’s an option

RPCS3 on Ubuntu 25.10

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 17 Stunden 40 Minuten

My RPCS3 appimage is not running on Ubuntu 25.10

I have a Ryzen 5 5600 and an RX 6600.

I tried running it from the terminal but it's not giving me logs to work with.

I've already installed the two versions of libfuse2:

sudo apt install libfuse2

sudo apt install libfuse2t64

Then I tried:

sudo chmod +x rpcs3-v0.0.39-18612-9b256d71_linux64.AppImage

I also tried running it with the AppImageLauncher but it's still not running.

The snap version is outdated.

The flatpak version works. Is the flatpak version the only way? I didn't want to install another repository just for RPCS3. I'm hoping to make this AppImage version to work on my Ubuntu system.

Alienware M17 R5 Update

Reddit Linux_Gaming - vor 18 Stunden 11 Minuten

I just wanted to come in here and give you guys an update as everyone here are always so helpful. I tried to edit the original post to give an update, but could not figure out how to do it via mobile for some reason. Link below to original post. https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/s/QR1zFvsj3F

So, I loaded Bazzite on this machine and it works great with the only tweak being to disable raid in the BIOS before install. It wouldn't see my SSD, only my secondary drive until I disabled raid.

It loaded without a hitch and I loaded RDR2 right up, made a few in game tweaks and played for about 15 minutes with no issue. I am currently downloading a bunch of stuff.

Also, I have seen others question about their LED lighting not working. Mine retained the settings apparently from Windows. I guess the lighting settings are saved to the BIOS because the LED theme is what I had before. Of course, there is no way to change it now, but I do like what I set up before, so it is good.

I wanted to thank all of you for your advice! I look forward to enjoying playing in the Linux environment and it feels like a brand new machine! Cheers and thank you all again!
