Dragon's dogma 2 glitch

09. März 2026 - 01:35

I got some sorta of spiky ground glitch, also the game recognize only 2gb of bran (as shown in the image),
I'm using:

Bazzite

Proton GE latest (also tried experimental and proton-catchyos latest)

GPU: Intel arc b570 guardian Luna OC (10gb VRAM)

I also tried forcing 10gb in dxvk via launch options, re-created shaders, turn of force mesh and other things.

I played Else Ring, Resident Evil requiem, Sofi, Helldivers 2 perfectly without no problem

What are you all playing lately? Here's my current lineup

09. März 2026 - 01:22

Been on Linux for a while now and figured I'd share what's been eating my time and see what everyone else is running.

My most played by a mile is Predecessor (3,100+ hours), it's a MOBA that runs great on Linux. Right behind it is PlanetSide 2 (~1,400 hours), which still holds up. Beyond those two I keep coming back to Borderlands 2, Elden Ring, Gunfire Reborn, and Don't Starve. The Souls games in general have been a big part of my library too, Dark Souls I through III.

Currently have No Rest for the Wicked and Witchfire on the wishlist in early access, keeping an eye on both.

Curious what everyone else is running on Linux right now. Any hidden gems that work well on Proton or native? What's getting your hours?

I recently switched to Linux and my fans are freaking out

09. März 2026 - 00:47

I have an Acer laptop, and I recently switched to Linux, about a week or so ago. I noticed weird noises coming from my laptop, and all of them pointed to the fans being weirded out. How can I fix this and/or what's causing this?

Please help: blacklist file not working anymore on Bazzite

08. März 2026 - 23:51

I created a blacklist file in /etc/udev/rules.d to stop hid_nintendo from loading. This used to work but stopped working. Did something change recently that requires a different solution?

More generally, what is the best way to blacklist a kernel module in Bazzite?

I tried posting this question on the Bazzite sub but it was removed by reddit filters.

Steam compatibility options just disappear?

08. März 2026 - 23:37

I'm trying to play slay the spire 2, but every time i turn my computer off Steam Linux Runtime 3.0 just disappears from the list of options I can use, which is weird because its the only one that has actually allowed me to play the game. Does anyone know about this and how I could potentially get it back? (fedora)

Vesktop and alt apps of Discord

08. März 2026 - 23:29

Im sure we all know and most of us use "Vesktop" (Vencord), but with the looming IPO of Discord, I am not so sure about continuing to use it. I am old enough to remember what happened when Spotify IPOd, all the custom apks such as "spotify dogfood" versions got nuked in the span of a month or so. I am worried as Discord is my main app to chat to my friends, even IRL ones. So the question is, do you guys still use Vesktop, do you plan on continuing to use it if Discord IPOs?

Steam (Flatpak) Menu Repair: A script to repair and automate Flatpak game shortcuts

08. März 2026 - 23:03

I just switched over to openSUSE Tumbleweed from Windows and didn't love that none of my Steam (Flatpak) games were appearing in my KDE Plasma start menu, so I put together this little script that fixes that.

The script syncs your Steam games into the start menu, finds the correct high-res icons for them, and adds the script itself to your menu so you can run it easily whenever you add or remove a game.

I hope it helps someone!

How to Install

1. Download the Script: Click here to get the script from GitHub Gist.

2. Save Location: Save the file in your Downloads folder as exactly:

Steam (Flatpak) Menu Repair.sh

3. Run the Command: Open your terminal (Konsole) and paste the following:

cd ~/Downloads && chmod +x "Steam (Flatpak) Menu Repair.sh" && ./"Steam (Flatpak) Menu Repair.sh" submitted by /u/spacemanSparrow

My friend's experience using Bazzite for roughly 3 months

08. März 2026 - 22:39

Hello fellow Tux enjoyers!

Hope you are all doing well! Here I am to tell you yet another experience with Linux and Linux gamint but not mine, this one is actually the experience of my non-tech friend using Linux (specifically, Bazzite)

For starters, he only got to use Linux for 3 or 4 months because his PC (alienware) had a faulty SSD and it was stopping him from booting.

He had a 1TB HDD and Windows 11 + HDD = pure disaster and torture then he decided to try Linux to see if he could at least play and stream a bit until he solved his storage issues.

For starters, it was pretty darn easy for him to install Bazzite, even with Bazzite terrible installer (we have to admit it guys, is almost as bad as Windows's installer)

He has an Nvidia GPU and he was gaming faster than on Windows, record time even.

And thats with the handicap of having a HDD.

He was also streaming pretty quickly but here's where issues began.

For starters, game capture needed that additional command on Steam, while it wasn't rocker science it was really inconvenient and unintuitive specially for a non tech person who just wants things to work.

Next and his really only other issue was/is mod managers/mods in general, he tried installing mods for Resident Evil 4 and Elden Ring

He got it working by pure brute force but it really wasn't easy and he had to take different shortcuts and follow tutorials to accomplish mods.

He went back to Windows 11 last week because of this, he liked Linux and gives it a 7/10 but those things like mod managers not being available on Linux or being extremely hard to set up.

Other than that. Smooth sailing, he didn't had difficulties navigating Linux or using it in general or using Discord, we streamed together multiple times using Bazzite with friends using Windows.

Pretty darn good!

Fingies crossed

What is the issue?

08. März 2026 - 22:39

I build a friend a pc with many second hand parts.

It has a: a10 6700, 1060 6vram, one single ddr3 8gb ram with Asus M11BB motherboard.

The hard drive is from 2013.

Bro just wants to play tf2 and cloverbit and other basic stuff like discord.

But when I start tf2 it loads in but is not loading into a game and is just freezing and then freezing the pc.

Idk what the direct issue is.. is it the hard drive or the ram ect?

Steam Main Window pops up over game window during gameplay

08. März 2026 - 22:36

At random times, the steam main window popups above my game window during gameplay which blocks the game window and takes away window focus. If anyone knows how to fix this steam issue or at least keep it from blocking my game window when it does happen help appreciated.

Some info I thought would be relevant (ask for more if you want):
OS: Debian

DE: Gnome

Steam Installation type: debian package(not flatpak)

HARD VOID - jejoxdev - a Retro-style Cosmic Horror 4X space strategy game: Native on Linux!

08. März 2026 - 22:27

HARD VOID is my solo project developed on Linux with pure C and OpenGL, and runs natively on Linux!
Early Access v0.11.x is now available!

HARD VOID is a Lovecraftian-themed 4X space turn-based strategy game in development.
Lead your custom species across galaxies and multiple dimensions to build an Empire. Design your spaceships, assemble your fleets, and fight for supremacy. But beware, unthinkable Eldritch horrors lurk in the vast darkness.

The changes consist of the expansion of ground unit mechanics, including ship/unit landing and take-off. Also a complete rebalance of ship/unit systems is done to accommodate the changes, some UI rework, performance improvements, and bugfixes.

In this update, the procedural generator of ground units its fairly functional, the division between ground and space units its blurring. You can design tanks and other ground units that can take off into space, use their warp engine, and land in enemy colonies.

There is no distinction between ground and space modules; any unit can have any module within the unit size constraints. The unit load capacity granted by land mobility modules allows units to move on the ground and resist gravity. if the unit load capacity is insufficient for the unit mass and gravity combination, it takes an agility penalty and damage proportional to the difference on landing.

In the next updates, sea and air units will be included.

Trying to fix fallout: new vegas audio problem

08. März 2026 - 22:13

Linux mint

I'm trying to get fallout: new vegas to run, and so far I already have it working and am able to use mods using steamtinkerlaunch, proton ge, and mo2. The final problem is that every few seconds a crackling/fizzy noise glitch happens.

my first try was downloading fnv-audio-fix and applying it to my game. I don't think I did it properly because I applied it to the location of the game in my drive, and not the location that proton uses. I can't find the location of 22380 where I think I need to apply the fnv-audio-fix. I also tried adding WINEDLLOVERRIDES="xaudio2_7=n,b" %command% to the launch options, but that didn't work either.

08. März 2026 - 21:08

hi. i have a problem launching genshin impact on arch linux.

the game simply does not start. i tried multiple launchers:

  • hoyoplay via portproton
  • an anime game launcher
  • twintail launcher
  • heroic launcher

the issue does not seem to be related to the distribution. i already tried several:

  • cachyOS (KDE)
  • endeavourOS (KDE)
  • arch linux (current system, KDE)

my pc specs:

  • ryzen 5 3600x
  • rx 5700xt
  • 16 gb ram

vulkan seems to work correctly and the radv driver is detected.

driverError.log

i’m not sure if the gamemode error is the cause or just a warning.

has anyone encountered this before or knows how to fix it?
any help would be appreciated

PCSX2 Setup Guide Crashing

08. März 2026 - 20:45

I am using Linux on my Chromebook in an attempt to install and run PCSX2. I am so close, yet so far!

I am using this command to launch the setup guide: flatpak run net.pcsx2.PCSX2

Step 1 requires me to select a language. I pick English (or whatever the default is) and click next.

Step 2 requires me to select a BIOS. I do this, and click next.

Step 3 is 'Game Directories', which is to select a location where I have my PS2 ROMs. No matter what folder I select, it will cause a crash.

And I don't know how to move forward from this. Since I have tried this 100 times with the same result, I am trying to troubleshoot solutions.

Here is what it says in the terminal:

crostermiller@penguin:~$ flatpak run net.pcsx2.PCSX2
qt.qpa.wayland: Ignoring unexpected wl_surface.enter received for output with id: 7 screen name: "Screen6" screen model: "unknown" This is most likely a bug in the compositor.
The Wayland connection broke. Did the Wayland compositor die?

How do I get the setup guide to stop crashing every time?

The Crew: Motorfest Horrible performance

08. März 2026 - 20:38

My gf and I both got The Crew: Motorfest and we both use Linux (Fedora 42 KDE)
we noticed the games runs terribly and we both have identical PCs with game installed on SSD

RX 9060XT
Ryzen 5 5600x
1080p
32GB ram

i noticed after leaving the game in the menu for 10 minutes, the game achieves 60 fps but then drops back to low 20s after going to a new area. its unplayable. ive tried so many things. updated and downgraded drivers, many launch commands, uninstalling OBS, you name it. anyone know what to do?

LUKS encryption benchmark for gaming?

08. März 2026 - 20:21

Is there any such benchmark available?

I understand that the game is likely not disk IO bottlenecked, but LUKS also uses CPU, so there is less CPU to go for the game when there's IO.

I do wonder the impact.
