Minecraft Bedrock for Linux with Microsoft Login
Hi everyone, I’ve been looking for a way to run Minecraft Bedrock on Linux. I know there were some options before, but they required you to have purchased the game on Google Play. Recently, I found a relatively new project that lets us play Minecraft Bedrock on Linux with full Microsoft account support: https://codeberg.org/Crow\_Rei34/CC-MC. It supports Arch, Debian, and Fedora, and is being tested to work with Void Linux.

Can't game on Mint or Arch. Don't understand the problem.
Looking for some help from some far more knowledgeable people. About a year ago, I dual booted an Arch OS on my computer to play some games on. Followed the wiki and everything worked fine for about a month. One day, I tried booting up many games and ran into issues. I tried resolving the issues with no luck, so I ran back to Windows.
Fast forward, Windows 10 EOL is coming up, so I install Linux Mint over my Windows OS. Install everything I think I need and same exact issues occur.
These issues include:
No audio on (all other system audio works fine): - Cyberpunk 2077 - Warframe - Miside (don't judge)
Freeze on start for: - Ghostrunner 2 (DX11 and DX12)
I haven't tried any other games due to time and interest constraints.
Considering that the same issues have persisted over both operating systems and that games did work on my Arch OS at one point, I have a feeling that I may have accidentally made a change in my bios or hardware (did change my CPU from Intel to AMD around the time it stopped working) at some point to cause these issues. In reality I have no idea if that is true or if I am missing something very simple. I have tried to resolve these issues a few times with no luck. Any help is appreciated. I can provide additional details if needed. Thanks.

getting lugaru (oss) to work on linux
the lugaru HD version of the game that's available on steam has limited resolutions and freezes everytime you get knocked out, so i tried to install the open source version of the game which has additional fixes but was met with "Failed to get a double-buffered context.". ok fine, i noticed this release was 5 years old so i compiled from master, but was met with same error. i also learned that there is a oss_lugaru version in the steam betas of the game, but it just crashes on launch both with and without proton, anyone figure it out?

Most games run as slideshows, some won't even start
Okay, so first, here's a list of my specs in case it's of any relevance:
(Also, please bare in mind that I'm a complete noob, so if it's possible please try using simpler terms)
Motherboard: Asus PRIME B-450 Plus
CPU: Ryzen 7 5700X
GPU: Zotac RTX 4060 8GB
RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengance 3200MHz
Drives: KingSpec 512GB Sata III SSD; WD_Black SN770 2TB
Roughly a week ago I made the switch from Windows 11 to Linux. Specifically Fedora 42 GNOME. I made sure there was no conflicting with Windows programs or files by just buying a completely new drive and skipping the bother of dual booting, or clearing my old one.
Up until today, and yesterday, all my games ran just fine, and some even ran better than on Windows. While playing Fallout 76, I noticed my cursor veering off onto my second monitor and continuously tabbing me out when I'd try to equip something or shoot at an enemy. Eventually, I got fed up with it, and tried to find a way to fix this. This lead to me downloading X11, rebooting, switching to it, and that's where my troubles started.
The games that do launch are basically slideshows, consisting of a few seconds per each frame. And the games that don't, tend to report the same issue: My card doesn't support Direct3D (examples being Helldivers 2 saying Direct3D 12 is unsupported, and the original Max Payne saying that my card doesn't support DirectX 8).
I'm guessing that for some reason, I just can't use Direct3D/DirectX? Any directions would be great, thanks in advance

Hi everyone! I've released a Demo on Steam of my terminal-based incremental ASCII game. And I'm trying to get the Linux version up to speed. In need of people to test the Linux version.
Disclosure: This is my very first game, and it started as a way to learn python. People showed a lot of interest, so I just kept working on it. Linux users asked me for a Linux compatible version, but I'm very new to Linux, so I'm afraid I can't test it as exhaustively as I should.

Cannot Uninstall Steam
I recently installed Pop (my first time using Linux) and have been having some issues with different Steam games. I was digging around, but then I again saw it in the Pop store as an option to install. I thought it would be a clean reinstall so I clicked it. But instead it installed and I ended up with two completely different versions of Steam on my computer. I was able to uninstall that new version no problem. But this first one is like a ghost in my machine. No purging or anything is capable of finding it. I'm not sure how to delete this and have a feeling the windows version that was on my USB must have somehow made it over? No clue. But I want to uninstall this and reinstall the other version to see if it is the root of the problems I'm having. Help lol

Curse forge issues: unexpected issue keeps occuring (minecraft)
Hello, I just tried installing a minecraft modpack via CurseForge (very easy installation), it launched for the first time but now it doesn't want to launch anymore (the minecraft launcher itself). Has anybody else experienced this problem?
My OS is EndeavourOS and I installed CurseForge using yay but appimage from CurseForges website has the same problem aswell. Standard minecraft launcher works without a problem.

Steam GUI not works in Linux.
Steam can't run GUI in linux
I've tried everything. Fedora 42 doesn't work, Arch Linux doesn't work, and Flatpak doesn't work either.
I've also tried an AMD Vega 8 laptop and an Intel HD 4000 laptop, and two laptops don't work with Steam on these Linux systems.
The only thing that will make Linux work is Debian 12 or Alma Linux 9. Mesa or the latest Linux packages won't work.
It's just that the GUI isn't working. I mean, I see it in backgrounds and CLI process, but the GUI is dead in GNOME and XFCE.
Is anyone having this problem

Banned cause your game sucks
This isn't a tech support question.
Seen it marketed on steam as one of the most played games on steamdeck. So I think hell yeah lets run it. Im on arch. Playing some games before work when I get a crash. Was having this problem last night and switched my proton versions a couple times, got it working. This being my third or fourth timeout though I now get the 30 minute ban. Because their game crashes. Now Im being banned from casual matchmaking. The crashes are only present in multiplayer so I have no option but to get bans while testing. Very cool.

Help, massive lag & stutter proportional to polling rate. Not every game.
audio cutting out during ?loading?
many games, give me very little issue with audio.
I don't think i have ever had an issue with Rimworld audio cutting out, regardless of if I have a youtube video running in the background.
but some games audio CONSTANTLY cuts out, making them unbearable to play with any audio.
and the audio cut out is system wide, as the audio from the youtube video cuts out, and it happens when the game is minimized also, It seems to happen when assets are loading in.
My 3600x is old, but it shouldn't be that much of a bottle neck with my 3070Ti. 32gb DDR4

Audio cut out during loading - All audio
I usually play with a video going on monitor 2 or a PIP youtube video.
with a few games, the audio cuts out, seemingly when loading assets in the background.
It doesn't appear to be the same type of stuttering or static problem that i has seen other talk about.
I'd really like to play Shadow of a Doubt, but even without a video playing in the background the cutting out makes it unbearable

I wish I liked KDE so bad
I've been back on Windows for a while, but I've recently been interested in going back to Linux. The last time I tried this, I got really frustrated. I prefer GNOME as my desktop, but there are lots of gamery reasons why KDE is by far the best performing desktop. Both on paper and in practice, KDE performs and feels better while gaming.
The issue is, I hate KDE so much. I hate using it, navigating it, it's so unnecessarily complicated, the design language looks terrible and customizing it doesn't even help, plus most of the apps that help to customize KDE haven't been updated in decades (like lattedock for example).
I've scoured r/unixporn and I've found maybe a couple rices that look good, for example, this is the only good looking dock I've ever seen on KDE, and it probably feels horrible to use based on my experiences.
I wish there was another option besides GNOME and KDE. As much as I hate Microsoft, they have a decent design language, games run smooth when compared to GNOME, and that's sort of why I switched back to Windows like a year ago. There doesn't exist a desktop that has a good design language that is consistent (think of GTK3/4 and Adwaita which I love), and has all of the modern features gamers want like VRR, good Wayland and Nvidia support, HDR, and pretty much whatever KDE does to get better performance in games.
My best option is a window manager I guess, but I don't want to spend 8 hours making it look pretty, I want something consistent and pretty out of the box like GNOME. I don't want to custom code a polybar, configure 69000 hotkeys for things, and not be able to move windows around like a normal computer.
This is kinda just a rant, I know that there is nothing that exists that does these things and I just wanted to open up a discussion to see if anyone else feels the same way, if you think I'm stupid, etc.

Having a really specific issue with Minecraft. Consistent frame dips every few seconds.
I've been tampering with this a lot, and I for the life of me can't figure out just what the exact problem is.
Minecraft versions 1.18 and above have this unusual issue where, every 2-3 seconds, the frame rate drops. Evenly spaced frame dips that I can't seem to figure out what they're tied to. I've tried varying mod (Sodium, Vulkan Mod, Embeddium), and even tried out different forks of java that Prism Launcher provides, with no success. Even vanilla MC has this problem.
I've sought different support groups, but the best I've got was a friend of a friend who did their best to debug the issue, but after switching me from X11 to Wayland, they started to compile a different Mesa version before sending me the file and needing an extended break. (I was never shown how to use the file, by the way. They wanted to downgrade to 23.2.1, which I don't know how to do with a file.) All switching to Wayland did was reduce the severity of the frame rate drops, so the issue is still far from solved. (And I'm considering a swap back to X11, since some of my games are running a little worse without it.)
I even tried seeking help from the Prism discord, but the only 'help' I got was someone insisting I switch operating systems and saying "I can't modify SteamOS, it's all closed source," (Which I doubt.) I just got this PC not too long ago, I'm not looking to be switching operating systems around, not when I just got it all set up.
I can't seem to tie this issue to anything. Was there something in the 1.18-1.21 range that changed how java or rendering is handled? And what can I change to fix this? It looks like MC runs just fine otherwise, when I play on lower versions, it runs just fine, smoothly even, but I want to play on modpacks available in 1.20.1. The only thing of note appearing in the logs, from what various others could tell me, is "tick.root taking too long."
These are the current specs of my PC:
Operating System: SteamOS 3.7.13 Build: 20250630.1
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.9.0
Qt Version: 6.8.1
Kernel Version: 6.11.11-valve19-1-neptune-611-g88b36d49a5e3 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
Partition: A
Processors: 12 × AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Six-Core Processor
Memory: 31.0 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon RX 6600
Product Name: B450M/ac R2.0

Is valve really not going to take advantage of windows 10 EOL?
It's actually so bizarre. Windows 10 EOL is in about 3 weeks. If you asked me earlier this year, I would have said there's no doubt that valve would capitalize on this golden opportunity staring them dead in the face. It's such an easy way to get a massive influx of users. But it seems apparent that they want SteamOS to stay mobile only, at least for now. What a shame.
And yes, I know bazzite is a thing. But having a massive corporation supporting it is the difference between being the next big thing and being just another distro. Bazzite is fantastic, but it's simply not going to move the needle forward in terms of linux market share.

No Man's Sky works on Windows, but I can't get it to work on Lutris on CachyOS because of the "sys_steam_err_title" and "sys_steam_err_init" error
Hi friends.
I installed No Man's Sky on Windows, and it worked perfectly.
I installed the exact same version on Lutris on CachyOS, but I can't get it to work; I get the error "sys_steam_err_title" and "sys_steam_err_init".
I installed the command:
sudo pacman -S cachyos-gaming-meta
sudo pacman -S lutris
I opened Lutris, clicked "+" and "Add locally installed game". I selected the "proton-cachyos" runner, set the prefix path on my secondary drive (sdb1) to "games/prefix/no_mans_sky", and selected the "setup.exe" installer.
After finishing the installation, I installed the packages the game offered: DirectX, C++ Redistributable, Net Framework, etc.
After finishing the installation, I changed the path from "setup.exe" to "launcher.exe" and launched the game, but I get the error "sys_steam_err_title"/"sys_steam_err_init".
I changed the runner to "proton-cachyos-slr" and "System (10.15) default", but I get the same error.
The prefix is set to "Windows 10". I'm using Nvidia and have the latest drivers 580.82.09.
Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? It's the same version as Windows, and I don't know why I can't get it to work. I can't find a solution on Google.
Thanks in advance.

Controller used to work fine and is still recognized but games ignore inputs.
My controller worked fine for months, but today it decided to not work anymore? It is recognized just fine by Steam and my DE.
I have Steam Input enabled and everything, but no buttons work when actually playing a game. I have tried rebooting and uninstalling the steam package.
I am on EndeavourOS (6.18.8-arch1-1), KDE Plasma 6.4.5.
Controller is 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Bluetooth.
