Deadlock crashing after just moving the mouse
My friend's on an Acer Aspire laptop rocking a Ryzen 7 5700U, 8GB Ram and integrated graphics. Deadlock worked just fine on Windows and did not have any issues apart from poor performance, but that's just because of his specs. Now it won't run at all on Zorin. After a bunch of tweaks, we managed to get the game to load to the menu, but moving the camera or trying to go into settings menu simply crashes it.
Tweaks:
GE-Proton10-32
Using launch commands: gamemoderun %command% -vulkan -novid -no_prewarm_map -windowed
Any help would be appreciated.

Games won't run after arch-update and Discover updates
I'm really ignorant of Linux, but I managed to install CachyOS a few days ago and I was able to run my Steam games, using ProtonPlus, dw-proton in compability settings.
So I started my PC today, saw some pending updates in arch-update and Discover, installed them and rebooted, now my games won't start.
From the games that worked before, two of them (Infinity Nikki and Bayonetta) don't launch at all, for Yakuza 3 I get the error on the screenshot.
Silly me, I don't have any backup previous update install.
Is there a way to fix this or should I reinstall the whole OS lol. Here are my specs if that helps:
Thanks for any advice!

I did a simple comparison of stock Ubuntu and stock Windows 10. What are your thoughts?
Ubuntu (Default Settings + MangoHud)
Team Fortress 2: 90 - 150 FPS (Lowest settings).
Left 4 Dead 2: 70 - 90 FPS (Drops to 40 FPS during heavy zombie waves and effects). Default settings, unlimited FPS.
Dying Light: 19 - 21 FPS. PC heats up significantly. Lowest settings.
Minecraft (Stock, no mods): 200 - 300 FPS. Very smooth experience. Default settings.
War Thunder: 30 - 40 FPS. PC heats up significantly.
Other (2D Games): Stardew Valley and Terraria run perfectly smooth.
System Behavior & UX (Ubuntu):
Apps: Firefox is the default and runs well, though I prefer Chromium. Popular apps like Spotify and Discord are easy to install via Flatpak.
Bloatware: Almost zero bloatware, especially if you choose the "Minimal Installation" during setup.
Pros: Drivers are very easy to install (2 clicks for NVIDIA), updates are smoother and faster than Windows, and the system is highly customizable. GNOME is great for tablets/touchscreens. Proton makes gaming on Linux impressive.
Cons: App support is still lower than Windows. No native Epic Games launcher.
Resources: RAM usage is 1.2GB (without Snaps) and 1.4 - 1.5GB (with Snaps). Idle CPU usage is 0% - 1%.
Score: 7/10 (Snaps should be optional/removed, GNOME needs better optimization for low-end hardware, and app uninstallation could be more intuitive).
Windows 10 (Default Settings)
Team Fortress 2 (with Game Mode): 40 - 90 FPS. Not smooth, frequent drops. Fonts look blurry/poor.
Left 4 Dead 2: 28 - 92 FPS. Laggy with frequent frame drops.
Dying Light: 14 - 29 FPS. Very laggy, high heat levels.
Minecraft: 20 - 90 FPS. Extremely laggy compared to Ubuntu; constant stuttering.
Other (2D Games): Stardew Valley and Terraria remain smooth.
System Behavior & UX (Windows):
Bloatware: Extremely bloated with many useless Microsoft apps. Edge cannot be easily uninstalled.
Pros: Great app ecosystem and easy to delete 3rd party apps. Settings menu is simple. OneDrive is actually useful for some.
Cons: The OS feels very heavy; apps open slowly. Automatic driver updates often install outdated versions, requiring manual installation for peak performance. Windows Update often slows down the PC.
Resources: Idle RAM usage is 3.3GB. Idle CPU usage stays between 1% - 4% for no apparent reason.
Score: 5/10 (Too much bloat and lower gaming performance, but saved by superior app support).

limited vram usage in deadlock - nvidia & ubuntu
Hello, I recently migrated to Ubuntu and have little experience on Linux. There's a issue I couldn't solve. Even though I have GTX1650 mobile 4GB Vram game only uses/sees 1412MB of it. Sometimes it gets lower or higher. I checked nvidia-smi to if drivers can't catch the features of gpu, yet it can. (I run the game with proton-ge and couldn't get done with Bottles - game crashes (idk if it is necessary for this game))

Kaze and the Wild Masks runs slow on Bazzite
Anybody know what's going on here? I tried using different Proton versions, the game just runs really slow. Running, jumping, attacking, enemies all moving at half speed.
I don't have a super computer, but Ryzen 5 5500 and Radeon RX 570 should handle this retro-style game.
I'm also disappointed the game doesn't seem to have native controller support. Game will not detect any of my controllers unless I use Steam Input.

OLED uneven wear prevention app?
I'm currently dual booting Bazzite to see if I can manage a full switch from Windows. My 21:9 OLED monitor already has noticeable uneven wear at the 16:9 boundary, and I've since used this app to fill in the black bars from different aspect ratios on Windows which has helped prevent it from worsening.
Is there any alternative that works on Linux? I've been searching around for months and I can't seem to be able to find anything. I watch and play lots of local media in 16:9 and 4:3, so if I can't prevent further damage to my monitor then I can't really use Linux when I've been really wanting to.
I can't seem to make the app work with Wine or Winboat, either. Unless I'm doing something wrong.

UE5 massive improvement with NTSync
I am on mesa 26.0.3, ProtonGE10-33, and kernel 6.17
Heard good things about UE5 performance improvements on mesa 26 and decided to play talos principle reawakened. Ran into two very annoying issues:
1) Leaves, bushes, and trees absolutely tanking fps if I go into them
2) FSR4 very grainy and noisy on grass
So I went digging around the net and protonge github, looking for some clues or new features. I notice the ntsync section and see there's some instructions to enable it - whereas before I'd just assumed it would work automatically
So I check and see it actually is compiled as a module in my kernel and not probed. Add it and testing time
Both issues fixed - absolutely smooth, 100+ fps all the time. Okay, time for the real stress test - put raytracing from off to max - boom, still 100+ fps at 1440p. I remember some levels that were giving me trouble - effortlessly smooth
Was mindblown, wish I had discovered this earlier. Gave Jedi Survivor a test spin with RT, same result - buttery smooth, blows my rtx 4080 windows laptop completely out of the water
rx 9070xt and 9800x3d, ubuntu 25.10

Splitting audio for OBS on Linux
Just linking this (I don't know how cross posting works, it's not working for me for some reason):
Actually, I can just copy paste
---
I found a way that works for me for splitting audio. I need only to split game audio, Discord, and microphone. I tried using qpwgraph but it kinda mixed Discord and Chromium together.
What works reliably for me is
- create virtual sinks
- create loopbacks from virtual sinks to default device
- set PULSE_SINK=game_audio_capture (or =discord_audio_capture) in the apps' launch parameters
I like this because I can launch Steam with PULSE_SINK and every game* will launch outputting to that sync. So no need to think too much what is where.
I'm mainly posting to help others coming from Windows where they've used OBS for clipping games, but also for feedback to see if there's a better way to kinda force apps to output someplace without PULSE_SINK or if PULSE_SINK has an alternative that won't be deprecated or something in the future. For me, this is actually pretty good because I can then run gamescope-session-plus and not have it include all the environment variables (I can selectively apply PULSE_SINK )
I made a short video on this:
https://youtu.be/qMnCvkZpWVM
There's a text guide (basically a generated sumary by ChatGPT of my conversation with it):

*some games only work if launched with proton, even when they have native support ... I don't know why, but for me it's not a hassle

Heroic games launcher and cheat: is it possible?
Hi everyone. I installed Ghostwire Tokyo from the Heroic Game Launcher on Steam Deck and would like to use some cheats. I tried a Fling trainer via Steam Tinker Launcher, but it doesn't detect the game's .exe file and I can't activate the various cheats. Are there any alternatives that work? I have tons of games on the Epic Games Store and can't use Cheat Deck. Thanks for the info.

Crimson Desert Poor Performance
I had to try 4 different proton versions to even get it running (Experimental and currently using GE-33) and then I'm stuck at 50-60fps while tweaking all settings (mostly at high now) with 0 improvements from Cinematic/Max with Ray Reconstruction (goes beyond max settings and costs like over 50% fps) I have an RTX 4080 at 1440p which usually gets me at least 80fps minimum in all other games even with raytracing. I have ray reconstruction off so that's not the reason my fps are low. The CPU (i7-13700kf) usage also seems very low (20%) while the GPU is at 100% and DLSS does nothing to relieve that. According to benchmarks I should be having ~90fps on Ultra settings with RR off and DLAA (rsther than DLSS Quality). Is the proton tax on this game just that high?

What is causes Cyberpunk2077 process hang and core dump on exit when FSR4 is upgraded by amdxcffx64.dll?
Can anyone shed some light on this?
When having FSR4 upgraded by updating amdxcffx64.dll, either manually or (before AMD removed the files) using auto-update feature in GE-Proton or cachyos-proton.
On exiting CP2077 I'm getting a Steam process hang, needing manual stopping of CP2077, followed by core dump.
This ONLY happens when FSR4 amdxcffx64.dll is upgraded manually or automatic update in ../system32 to either 4.0.3 or 4.1.0.
The core dump on exit:
mrt 21 09:16:39 Infinity systemd[1]: Started Process Core Dump (PID 61061/UID 0).
mrt 21 09:16:40 Infinity steam[53079]: Removing process 60162 for gameID 1091500

FSR4 4.0.3 and 4.1.0 do work in-game indicated by PROTON_FSR4_INDICATOR=1 or SR4_WATERMARK=1 MLFG_WATERMARK=1watermark(s). And 4.1.0 does seem to have a bit better image quality.
What works:
Using the loose FSR4 4.0.3 files from SDK FidelityFX 2.1.0, manually updating amd_fidelityfx_dx12.dll & fidelityfx_framegeneration_dx12.dll amd_fidelityfx_upscaler x12.dll, in ../Cyberpunk2077/bin/x64.
This does not result in the process hang and core dump.
Tested:
GE-Proton10-28, manual and auto update to 4.0.3.
GE-Proton10-33, manual update to 4.0.3 / 4.1.0.
cachyos-proton (latest), manual update to 4.1.0.
System specs:
Kernel: 6.19.2-1
Desktop: KDE Plasma 6.5.5
WM: kwin_wayland
GPU: Radeon RX 9070 XT (RADV GFX1201)
Driver: mesa 25.3.5-arch1.1
