For context I updated my Nvidia drivers and now it locks my monitors Frame rate at 60 frames per second. I did Sudo Pac-Man -S nvidia Anyway to have the updated drivers while having 144 hertz?

I cannot figure this out. GWE worked so perfectly for me, but apparently they can't get it to work on Wayland. Now that X11 is gone, I can no longer use it. Is there another option?

Hi switched from Fedora 39 Gnome to Fedora 40 KDE today, after setting up the usual Fedora things went to install steam and launch - launched the login and does appear to log in but does not display the client after and will not list in activities when alt tabbing. System info below, let me know if any other info needed. Do NOT have family settings enabled, so I don't think it's that bug.

Edit, to add - tested flatpak client, UI launches then after login but elements are not interactive and window goes unresponsive after a bit

Edit edit for people in the future that may search this and need an answer - closed steam, opened terminal and used the command. This worked for me

I bought a Gigabyte RX 7900 GRE video card two weeks ago and noticed that the fans do not work until the GPU temperature reaches 70 degrees Celsius. I've tried adjusting the curve and setting the fan speed to 100%, and I realized that these settings work but only after the fans activate at 70 degrees Celsius. Thus, the fan control is functioning, but not correctly. I suspect this might be a hardware issue. Does anyone know how to fix this?

P.S Also i tested on Windows, everything works fine

I am using bottles to use Ubisoft connect and the same issues occur with lutris too. I have tried using the different runner like Wine GE, Proton. Either an issue because of the new look it got or Ubisoft just hates Linux.

So I've been frequenting Linux desktop news for a while, and it seems like the last pieces of the NVIDIA + Wayland puzzle are coming into place with explicit sync support. I'm considering making the jump back to an NVIDIA card, but one thing that concerns me is the alleged lack of power management functionality when using the NVIDIA control panel on Wayland? If I understand correctly, it requires a genuine X11 session to provide control over the feature.

Being able to power limit or undervolt these power-hungry cards is important to me, and I'm curious whether anyone running a Wayland session has figured out a solution. I can currently do it in CoreCtrl on AMD just fine. I don't even necessarily need any of the other control panel settings exposed, I just want the power management controls. Maybe there's some kernel parameter or command line tool that will do the job?

Recently I decided to reinstall AC Syndicate but I noticed I have this weird graphical glitch with anything in the distance

As shown in the image, the anything beyond a certain point is like half rendered only, and it makes the game really hard to enjoy because I can barely see beyond my immediate environment.

How do I fix this glitch? I am on KDE Neon (User edition) running the game through lutris. Latest drivers, RTX 4060.

If there is anything I need to include then I will edit this post to add that info.

The game appears in the corner and I can use the mouse. Have to use keyboard to switch to windowed mode, then back to full screen to fix it. But it will always launch like this

I just installed Bazzite on my desktop, and I am having issue with Steam Game mode. My FPS is locked to 60 even though I am playing on a 120hz TV. In desktop mode, I have set my refresh rate to 120hz, and I can play at high framerates when launching through the desktop Steam app. However, in Steam Game Mode my refresh rate refuses to go above 60hz. Is there something I'm missing? I can't find any other settings in game mode that would affect my max refresh rate.

Not Flatpak. It has been like this ever since I installed it. The Steam client can not leave fullscreen on Linux Mint. Clicking on the fullscreen button in the top right doesn't make it go windowed, dragging the top bar of the window does nothing, and small mode is also fullscreen.

This is very annoying because when Steam is open I can not use the cinnamon panel unless there is another application on top of steam, fullscreen, or Steam has to be minimized.

I am very experienced in windows/mac, with a mild experience in Linux (I used one special distro sometimes at work and have a steam deck that I use a lot and have f*cked around with its custom Arch mildly for emulation and what not. I also tried manjaro for like a week 2 years ago and the bugs killed it for me).

What are the pros and cons to each in mid 2024? I am looking for something to 90% on my desktop (pretty new amd cpu, pretty new nvidia GPU), keeping a win11 partition for the few games that only work there.

just through googling ive narrowed it down to these two (i think). I know pop OS is bigger and more popular and but beyond that I could really use the advice lol.

Hello. Sorry if I’m asking in the wrong place. I didnt know where else I could find a possible answer.

I did a new install of Nobara last night and it all works well except that it does not use my gpu (rtx2070). The drivers are installed and I get a good to go message but it isn’t being used and the about page shows the onboard graphics. I’m not a total Linux noob but this is the first time I’m trying to use a Linux system with a gpu. I know on windows I can force all apps to use the gpu but I’m not sure what to do here. Thanks.

I just installed Bottles (Flatpak) from Gnome software and went on to to setup the "Application environment".

Everything's fine. But when I went to "Run Executable" button and browsed to the file path where I downloaded a SETUP.EXE file , it just doesn't show up. I can't find this file. On the bottom right corner it says "Supported Executables", I changed it to "All Files" and then find that SETUP.EXE file. But even after selecting it, I got an error that says

Setup is unable to find installation languages in Z:\run\user\1000\doc\aa186c9f\SETUP.LID file.

What can I do?

I’m trying out bazzite on a HTPC on all modern AMD hardware using an 8bitdo ultimate controller. I believe bazzite uses parts from Chimera with game scope and the ability to pull up a performance related overlay where you can enable or disable various sliders around FSR etc. Usually it overlays on the right side of the screen. I cannot figure out what hot button or combination to press to activate it? I’m not sure if this is something obvious or something further that has to be setup.
