Epsilon runtime extreme instability issue

09. Mai 2026 - 05:22

As stated in the post, minecraft 26.1.2 is very unstable. It randomly crashes and then refuses to start again. This typically happens after around 5-10 minutes of playing, and happens independently of any specific action.

This issue does not happen on my other computer running the same exact kernel and mods (just for an older version of the game. Though the instability has been present on my current pc even on that older version).

Modlist for the game is given in the original post (basically just fabric loader essentials + shaders + renderscale). Using kernel 7.0.3 with latest amdgpu drivers on arch. Minecraft downloaded through AUR with yay, using official launcher.

Any help is appreciated!

New to Linux, PC will not completely shutdown or restart. Need help please.

09. Mai 2026 - 03:10

I am currently running Bazzite OS on my new second m.2 SSD, set the bios to have it boot up into that instead of Windows 11 on my other m.2 ssd. Everything is fine and dandy until I decide to shut down the pc. Regardless if I use the regular shut down method via the gui or use a command line. I will get logged out, both monitors will stop receiving singles. However, the PC itself will stay on. (Fans will still spin, the lights are on, etc). I can manually shut it down via holding down the power button. I have tried different bashes in the terminal, in some cases it will shut down perfectly. And I’m like yay it worked! I started it back up, play some games, go shut it down and it’s back to square one.

Note: I am running an Nvidia gpu and a AMD Ryzen cpu. I do have secure boot disabled when I was trying out dual booting. As well as Power Down Enable changing from Auto to Enabled. Wake Up Event By changing from BIOS to OS. ErP is enabled

Potential secure boot problem for dual booters

09. Mai 2026 - 02:42

A video explains an upcoming certificate deadline.

Coming in June, you may have update problems unless you update your BIOS.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cEMyYQqUnrE

Problem is, if the vendor has cut off your BIOS update, you are having problems when the MS certificate expires.

I'm on Fedora 44 KDE, but this issue was there when I was using Fedora 33 KDE, I turned on the application permission for Steam in the system setting already.

FSR4 not working on Arc Raiders

09. Mai 2026 - 01:10

I’m not sure why, but “PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE=1 %command%” doesn’t seem to be working with Proton GE nor Proton EM. Somehow, the command still works on Marvel Rivals, with FSR4 being available as an upscaler option. I’m using a 9060XT on the latest version of Nobara. Anyone know of a solution to this?

Why do Gamescope/Wayland feel more input laggy than Windows?

09. Mai 2026 - 00:39

Initially, I want to make my goals clear:

I’m trying to build a “Steam Machine” setup that will run 100% of the time on a TV that I still plan to buy: a TCL 75C7K (4K 144Hz VRR HDR).

Hardware:

- Intel i5-14600K

- B660M Aorus PRO DDR4

- 64GB DDR4 3200MHz

- RX 570 4GB (I already bought a 9070 XT and I’m currently waiting for delivery)

- 1TB Kingston Renegade Gen4 NVMe

A couple of observations before people focus on the wrong thing:

- I’m fully aware of the RX 570 VRAM limitations. I only used it to get a feeling for how Game Mode + Gamescope currently behave during gameplay. I obviously monitored VRAM usage.

- I also know the limitations of HDMI 2.0, and I’m aware of AMD’s future HDMI 2.1 support implementation on Linux.

About a month ago, I tested Bazzite (handheld mode) on this hardware using my 60Hz Dell UltraSharp monitor.

I had basically the exact same experience as this user:

https://www.reddit.com/r/linux\_gaming/s/hZ4uYIM1rh

That “input lag” feeling.

It happens both in desktop mode and in Game Mode. Even with KDE tearing enabled (which apparently is already enabled by default), I never actually see screen tearing. It almost feels like there’s some kind of constant buffering layer happening all the time.

This does NOT happen on Windows 11.

It becomes much more noticeable in competitive games like Rocket League (Steam version). Even with:

- uncapped FPS

- VSync disabled in-game

- VSync disabled in Gamescope/panel

- FPS around 180

…the input lag on Linux still feels noticeably higher. Even when Linux is generating MORE frames.

I understand that a 60Hz monitor limits perceived smoothness compared to a high refresh display, but my intention here is specifically NOT to mask responsiveness issues behind higher refresh rates.

On the exact same monitor, Windows 11 has lower input lag, even at lower FPS.

I’m not saying Linux is unplayable — far from it — but it definitely does not feel as responsive as Windows in my case.

So I’d like to know what paths I can still explore to solve this problem.

I already tried most of the things suggested in the thread above.

I tested:

- Proton GE (multiple versions)

- Proton-CachyOS

- Proton Experimental

- Proton 11 Beta

- Proton 10

- etc.

I also tested several launch variables such as:

PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1

ENABLE_MESA_ANTI_LAG=1

ENABLE_LAYER_MESA_ANTI_LAG=1

PROTON_DXVK_LOWLATENCY=1

DXVK_FRAME_RATE=60 (120/160/180)

…and many others, both individually and combined.

So far, still nowhere near parity with Windows 11.

I also tested multiple controllers:

- Flydigi Direwolf 2 via dongle

- Flydigi Direwolf 2 wired

- DualShock 4 wired

- DualSense wired

- keyboard + mouse as well

Handheld/Game Mode is essential for me because I want a true console-like living room experience.

What I find curious is that I NEVER see tearing. Ever.

It always feels like there’s some cursed buffering layer permanently present.

Window Games on Linux

09. Mai 2026 - 00:34

There has to be a way right? Playing BO6 on a Linux, Not everyone cheats on a Linux. Most of us just likes Linux better than windows that don’t mean we can’t use the hardware that we have on our computers to play a game that you can play everywhere!

AMD System optimization guide

09. Mai 2026 - 00:19

Hi guys, i wanted to let you know that i created a performance optimization guide for AMD cpu and gpu systems.

But a lot of stuff can also be applied to intel and nvidia systems, so yeah, maybe optimization guide in general i guess.

https://github.com/WhitePeace36/LinuxAMDGamingOptimizationGuide

I described every tweak and what it does. Because the last time i posted my settings some people ragebaited me... and now i made that guide.

Furthermore i also ran into issues recently which i documented the fixes here.

I hope it helps. 😄

xwayland vs native wayland

08. Mai 2026 - 23:21

Hi!
Quick question because the difference in performance between xwayland and native wayland is very surprising to me.
In some games, like for example Diablo 4, Dead as Disco, Metal Gear Solid 5, TW:WH3 enabling native wayland using Proton-GE or CachyOS parameter PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 gives even 30-40 more FPS. Is it normal that xwayland is underdelivering so much?
I've been using linux for a year now and it has always been a thing practically.

I'm on Fedora 44 KDE, AMD 9070 and 5700x3D with 32GB 3600Mhz DDR4 RAM.
Currently i'm on MESA 26.0.5

How do I move the onscreen keyboard?

08. Mai 2026 - 23:20

So I have tried suggestions from the other post but nothing seems to work, Im thinking it might have to do with a scaling issue, as it does work on my 1080p display at 100% kde scaling, but not on the 4k display on 225% scaling, im on cachyOS using plama desktop and wayland, any suggestions what could be the problem here? Much appreciated!

Leverless Haute42 controller not working

08. Mai 2026 - 23:15

I used this controller just fine a few days ago but now my system is refusing to detect it. My xbox controller works fine, and this leverless should read as an xbox controller to the system as well but nada. I've changed nothing with the controller. In my system I've just ran updates. Nothing else changed.
