Force a keyboard layout for a game
Hello, I recently purchased Halo Spartan Assault and the game won't let me change my keys from QWERTY to AZERTY. Do you have a solution to force the layout change? I tried changing it in Linux Mint, I tried remapping with xmodmap, changing something in the registry and it didn't change anything.
Thank you for your help.
P.S.: If the tag doesn't fit this post, please let me know and I'll change it.

Has anyone had this issue? My games don't make good use of VRAM
This issue started about two months ago. Resident Evil 4 Remake doesn't recognize my 8GB of VRAM.
I just bought RDR2 during the Steam sale, and it's showing the same behavior as RE4R. In RDR2, the game detects the total amount of VRAM but doesn't seem to use it properly. In the third screenshot, you can see the red warning about VRAM. In the last image, with the Task Manager open, you can check the VRAM usage while playing RDR2.
This problem is causing low FPS and stuttering in both games.
I'm using Proton 9.04 for both games. I've already tried repairing, reinstalling, and switching Proton versions, but the issue persists. My system is Fedora 41 with Gnome.
Do you have any suggestions to fix this problem?

Is PRIME just generally better for gaming on hybird laptops?
Currently I have a Acer Predator Helios 300, a 3070 Mobile GPU and a Intel TigerLake-H GT1 IGPU. However in plenty of games, some that arnt triple A too, FPS is bad, like 15-25, I see some people enabling PRIME, I usually run my games on my second monitor, (not sure if thats relevent but i had weird gpu issues with that in the past), and I just want to know if I will have better luck with gaming by setting up PRIME?

Gaming laptop on linux issue
Hello all. Recently I installed Linux on my hp victus with 8gb ram with an rtx 2050 and ryzen 5 7535HS. I first tried arch linux and after installing it and getting my graphic drivers setup with envy control etc, anytime I ran a semi demanding game the ram would immediately fill up and just lock my system completely and then steam would eventually close along with the game. These games worked fine on windows and I’ve gotten it to work before somehow but couldn’t figure out how I did it. Had to do with the wayland/xorg/driver setup. A message on kde would pop up saying Linux kernel killed the application because of ram. I have since tired Debian and after setting everything up with the nvidia drivers and envy control the same thing happens. Task manager shows the ram fill up to the max 7.2 gigs and the system locks up. What’s going on here? can anyone give me any advice or know what might be happening here? It can’t be I just don’t have enough ram? The games in question are far cry 5, counter strike 2 and beamng. I can provide any extra information necessary to get to the cause?

Which Linux Distro is best?
My trash laptop gets very bad fps in Minecraft and Roblox. Specs: Intel pentinum Integrated graphics 4gb ram 500gb hdd
So many were saying switching to linux will drastically improve fps because of less resource consumption by the os itself.
What do y'all say? Does switching to linux really improve performance, if so, which Distro is the best for gaming? Please note that all I do in that laptop is gaming I'm also very new to linux. Any new information will be quite helpful!

Put an RX 6600 and Path of Exile II has places where there aren't any shadows or dark parts
Could someone help me with this? I was playing it on an RTX 1060 and despite how slow it was, the lighting was perfect, but with this RX 6600 many of the darker maps are like this, bright.
Some parts of the game, like at the beginning did stay the way I remembered it being. I did test some other games to see if I had the same problem and no, it seemed fine. I tested for a while Monster Hunter World, Dark Souls 2 and 3, Diablo 2 Resurrected, Enter the Gungeon and Heroes of the Storm. They did seem fine, but I didn't reach many places of the games.
I also used FurMark and everything seemed fine. No brightness problems or anything.
I'm worried because I don't know if this a Path of Exile 2 problem (which I didn't find other people having) or with the graphics card.
I don't know what info about my PC I should leave. I'm on Linux Mint 21.3 and using a Ryzen 5 5500.
I'd appreciate any help. Thanks!

Switched to Nobara. Everything running great except can't get AC3 5.1 output with Pipewire
I have SCOURED the whole web. Tried a bunch of different stuff found on a bunch of forums. Nothing is working. Unfortunately my TV does not allow passthrough of DTS or I would do that. Its a shame cause everything else works and I hate to have to boot into Windows just to game on my TV. If anyone could help me that would be great. I can't be the only one who has a soundbar that doesn't support PCM 5.1

Funny Genshin Impact story
Not really funny as in haha but funny as id odd, queer, or otherwise amusing aside from the raw humor in it. So, I know I am a weirdo here, my main PC is an Arch gaming VM running on a Slackware host. Why in Gods name would I have such a silly set up for my one and only PC? Well, I have been running Slackware as a server just for fun for many many years and so when I had a hardware failure on my aging desktop, I did the tally in my head and decided it would be so SO much cheaper to take my 16 core beast of a machine with double the ram I actually need, split it in half CPU for and RAM wise and run gaming in a VM instead. This has been GLORIOUS! I cannot tell you how amazing it is so be able to do easy VM snapshots before I do something crazy, just in case. I also had Microsoft decide that I wasn't allowed to transfer my legally purchased retail key Win7 Ultimate key over to a new machine, the VM. They said they didn't offer the upgrade from 7 anymore but like, I have been upgrading from that using their free upgrade path. My license for the Win7 key, and yes I read the whole thing, allows it to be transferable to other machine in perpetuity, so out of sheer and utter anger, I pulled the trigger on making the switch to a fully virtualized desktop setup.
Fast forward over a year later, I checked again just for kicks if Ganshin Impact was playable on Linux yet. Well, turns out that they removed/changed some of the DRM and anti-cheat stuff in the last big version because of the kernel malware they call anti-cheat was causing huge issues and backlash. It got my brain churning to think maybe the new setup might just work on proton without a third party launcher, seems a good few steam deck users have been doing just that for a while now. Not only does it work on Linux now, I just installed it right using the basic default proton in Steam, didn't have to play with ANYTHING to get it working properly. I used to play the game a lot before I make the Linux plunge but after, I decided that I wouldn't be playing it at all anymore. So, today my son asked if we could figure out a way I copuld play Roblox with him. It USED to work but they decided outright hostility to Linux users was hip now, so I haven;t figured out a way to use it under Linux yet.
So for the sake of my son i decided to install Windows as another VM. I have a quick little script that powers off my Arch VM, starts a heavily debloated Windows 11 VM that is not activated and will switch back with one command from SSHing into the server. I Said to myself that I would go on ahead and try to use Genshin in the VM instead because technically they could enforce a ban on Linux and Deck users if they wanted to but get this, IT DOESN'T work! Like for real, I get a BSOD every time I try to launch and is probably related to Genshin using VM detection, which is INSANE to me. For reals, the game works on my Arch VM but not a VM for the OS for which it was originally designed!?
I dunno, no real reason to post this, just found it rather amusing TBH. I know you can obfuscate the idea of you being in a VM but even then it might still be able to detect it. The logic here just doesn't make any sense to me to open up the game for proton gamers but not Windows VM users.
Anyhow, Hoyo can go jump in a lake, lol.
