Monitor keeps post login restarting after an update
Hello guys. I posted this problem on a couple of other subs but I've yet to find a solution. I'm experiencing an extremely annoying issue in which the monitor keeps disconnecting and reconnecting in loop post login after a system update. I've first experienced this issue with fedora after updating my system and installing nvidia graphics card. I then tried Bazzite, same exact issue, but at least with Bazzite I can roll back the update, which is a temporary solution. There are several culprits that could be causing this issue:
- Kernel update
- Nvidia drivers update
- Wayland
- All of the above
Is anyone else experiencing this exact issue? And if so, any solution besides rolling back the update? Any help is appreciated.
Relevant specs:
- Nvidia RTX 3060ti GPU
- Intel Core i5 11400F CPU
- Asus Prime B560M-K motherboard
- Samsung Odyssey G5 Monitor (connected through displayport)

Save 75% on Euro Truck Simulator 2 on Steam with native Linux support that should work well (according to a friend of mine)
Idle GPU. Metal Gear Solid - Master Collection
Thought I’d ask here to help investigate an issue.
[I’m on Steam Deck but have noticed this is a wide spread issue across Decks and even some peoples Windows machines]
The game pulls almost locked 3500MHz CPU whilst the GPU is basically idle. I have used PowerTools to adjust frequencies for both in real time to understand what’s happening. But you can cap the cpu to around 1700MHz and still maintain a constant 60fps. The GPU will still idle at around 400MHz and any frame rate drops will disappear completely if you cap the minimum GPU frequency to around 1000MHz
It’s as if the .exe doesn’t want to utilise the dedicated GPU
Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 from the Master Collection perform and behave identically during my experiments.

Whats a good upgrade from the RX 580?
I dont play the most graohically intensive games. The most would maybe be Elden Ring, or Dark Souls with textures upscaled, or maybe modded Minecraft.Currently the RX580 suffices, but I bought it used and didnt even clean it. Not looking for anything expensive, and I will probably buy it used anyways
Edit-I have a Ryzen 5600 so my cpu isnt holding much back for what i need

enabling hde causes a blueish screen
So, I am running Fedora 41 and plasma 6.2.1.
I am starting the game with DXVK_HDR=1 DISABLE_HDR_WSI=1 %command%
and enabling the HDR inside the game.
Also, I have enabled hdr on system settings for the gaming monitor.
Any suggestions on how can I solve this?

How to diagnose crashing in Linux
system info:
Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon 6.0.4
Kernel 6.8.0-47-Generic
AMD R7 5800x3d
32gb Ram
[AMD/ATI] Device 744c (7900xt)
X11
Game: Kingdom Hearts 1.5 2.5 ReMIX (Steam, GE-Proton9-7, launched from big picture mode)
After learning the issue with AMD GPU's was fixed with this game I started trying to play on my linux/AMD system instead of my windows/nvidia system. Specifically I'm having issues with KH2 but I haven't tested other games from the collection. Everytime I walk through a specific doorway the game crashes back into steam BP.
This is the first time I've played the game in Linux. When trying to search up questions about the issue i'm finding more information about issues with the now resolved AMD crashing, and issues with the Heroic/Epic version of the game. Could this be an issue with Mint being slower release cycle than something more gaming focused distro? Maybe something driver related or with X11?
Less importantly I'm having some issues with screen tearing that aren't resolved with the in-game V-sync toggle.
Any advice or troubleshooting help would be greatly appreciated!

Bazzite and shader processing
Hello folks, decided to give Bazzite a spin after hearing a lot of good stuff. On my other distro, openSUSE Tumbleweed Vulkan shader compilation is pretty fast. Usually the first processing takes a few minutes depending on the game, but after that first time it takes just a few seconds usually.
However, on Bazzite the shader processing takes quite a long time, it took around 20 minutes for Deadlock to finish processing its shaders last night, and on each subsequent boot I am still waiting a few minutes. Anyone else experiencing this?
I'm running a pure AMD setup as well so definitely no nvidia shenanigans at play here.

Getting Dynasty Warriors 6 on PC to work correctly with Proton
How would I go about troubleshooting certain issues that I am experiencing with Proton?
I am trying to run a game called "Dynasty Warriors 6" from 2007 using Proton and Steam on Linux Mint. So far, the game runs, but it has some issues that I would like to know how to solve
1) All videos are missing, or cannot be loaded
2) When loading a level with maxed graphics, the game crashes
3) Plugging in a PlayStation controller doesn't work, and I have to use the keyboard
So far, I've tried switching around the Proton versions, but it hasn't worked changed anything.
With that in mind, how would I go about troubleshooting and fixing these issues?

Poll: Absolute best way to launch proton games
So, I'm running arch linux/cachyos, and use kde wayland as my primary desktop environment, 2x RTX 3090, NVLinked. I use KDE Wayland, which I know has a bit of a history with performance problems
Questions:
- What is your preferred way to launch steam/proton games on linux?
- What do you think is the best way to launch games installed via steam/proton?
- What's your favorite proton build? (Regular proton, proton experimental, glorious eggroll, cachyos proton, something else?)
- Have any sync preference? esync? fsync? winesync? no sync?
- Any preference on gamescope? No gamescope? Yes gamescope? Have any secret incantations for launching it?
- vkd3d or dxvk?
- And, of most interest to me right now: does anyone here launch proton games from tty, or know of a good way to do so?
I've never had much luck running gamescope/gamescope-plus in a stable way on top of KDE Wayland, but it does have a bunch of neat features I'd like to try. Which is why I am so particularly interested in peoples' experiences doing a Ctrl-Alt-F3 (or whatnot) into a tty, and starting games directly from there.

Slow steam transfer speeds
I tested this with 3 computers. 1: fedora 40 desktop with Ethernet cable. 2: windows 11 desktop with Ethernet cable. 3: fedora 40 laptop tested on Ethernet and wifi.
Mostly a fresh install of fedora 40, basically just did dnf update, put on necessary drivers, and steam.
When I use steam transfer I get really low transfer speeds and it seems like it's when the host uploading computer is the Linux one. Both fedora computers transfer slow to each other, and they send slow to windows, but windows transfers fast to the fedora computers.
My normal download speed is 400mb without transfer. Fedora transfer is around 150, windows to fedora transfer is 1000.
Is there an obvious system setting or steam setting I missed setting up fedora that causes this?

Weird Issue with WoW and Mouse Inputs on Hybrid Graphics Laptop
Hello, I am having a weird issue with with WoW and Hybrid Graphics on my laptop.
I have an all AMD laptop (680m iGPU and 7700s dGPU) it's and Asus A16 TUF FA617NT.
I installed WoW through Lutris using the battle.net launcher.
My Problem is that if I am in Hybrid graphics mode (controlled with supergfxctl) and I try to play wow using the dGPU, either through setting environment variable for DRI_PRIME=1 in the config options for Battle.net in Lutris, or chaning the GPU in WoW setting to the dGPU, whenever I click with the mouse the game stops generating frames to the monitor, until I release the mouse inputs, then frame generation proceeds as normal. Obviously this is unplayable since you have to use mouse input to move the camera. I have tried with multiple different wine versions (Proton-GE, default lutris, Wine-Staging, Proton-Experimental) and they all do the same thing.
What fixes it is to enable dGPU mux with supergfxctl, then there is none of the mouse stopping frame generation issues like that.
I would like to not have to reboot the computer each time I decide to play WoW. Other games work in Hybrid mode with the DRI_PRIME=1 env variable set, so I am wondering what is causing WoW specifically to get weird with it.
Any tips from other hybrid graphics laptop users appreciated.

CellSplit - survival 2D arcade game (an open source clone of Agar.io)
CellSplit is a multiplayer game where you play as a cell that can grow and attack other cells.

It is an open source clone of Agario game. The main feature is a strong support for moderation to solve the problem with teamers and griefers that plague the original game.
You can play directly in the browser or download the Linux version (also available for Windows and MacOS).

FPS drops in certain games after a Linux update?
Hello, so I am currently using Nobara Liunux and I've been playing games on it for a while. I noticed after an update around a month or so ago 2 games in particular have really bad FPS drops. SF6 and Tekken 8. I don't know why, my other games work fine, however these 2 in particular have really bad FPS drops.
This doesn't happen in Windows and my PC is more than strong enough to handle almost anything. I heard it may be due to something called Splitlock protection? I'm not sure.
