i get that alvr is trying to get the config files from wrong file path but how do ı fix this, i tried changing the config manually but it just "fix it" itself

it's a Thinkpad R500 with intel GMA 4500MHD iGPU with EndeavourOS installed. It goes the way where it says stop in steam, but no window shows up. then, it download something? then goes right back to play. I want to really play this game when i am on trips and this laptop is my only option.

ı tried both wired and wireless and both times it just starts to immensely stuttering and becoming unplayable the second ı open a game(yes ı put the steam start up code) for the love of all someone please help with this ı been trying to get my oculus quest 2 to work with my steam games FOR THE LAST 6 HOURS

Hi everyone,

I'm having annoying issue with MoP PTR in particular (all other versions run just fine, including other PTR). The client straight up crashes with said error. I've been said on CachyOs discord server that that funcion is stub, But i'm not that tech savvy so it would point me in any direction.
My specs: 9800x3d paired with rtx 5080

Environmental variables: WINE_SIMULATE_WRITECOPY=1 PROTON_USE_NTSYNC=1 MANGOHUD=1

Things I've tried so far:

- switching to various proton versions (GE,CachyOs,provided by steam, basically all of them)

- gemini pointed me towards changing version of windows in Winecfg but that didn't help at all

- adding an override to IPHLPAPI.dll

- running directly through terminal using "wine start" command

All of these steps didn't even change the error output that I get, while other versions where running fine despite changes.

I’m thinking about getting the Nintendo Switch Online SNES controller to use on Linux, mainly for emulation. Before I buy it, I wanted to ask about input lag and overall compatibility.

How noticeable is the input lag, especially in fast-paced timing-sensitive games? People report input lag on the switch. Does this also occur on linux emulation? If so, can you midigate it?

I’m mainly looking for a setup that feels as close to original hardware as possible, so responsiveness is really important to me.

Would appreciate any experiences or tips. Thanks!

Tried googling this and found an older reddit thread and a github that had Lutris and ubuntu instructions, neither of which seem to work as I am on Nobara. Tried just like my Ubisoft games, downloading the exe and letting Wine handle the instillation then opening it via steam but it can't initialise the download, its sitting at 0MB/s. Tried opening the installer with Steam and it just doesn't open.

I plan on switching my gaming laptop's OS from Windows 11 to Mint, and some of my steam games (Ready or Not, and Forza Horizon 5) are currently saved on a Samsung T7 (that I also need to plug into Windows and Mac devices from time to time). If I switch to Mint without uninstalling those games from the steam app, will I encounter any problems? (e.g being unable to download games because it's "downloaded on another device", etc)

I've been having some graphical issues with minecraft making it a pain to play.

I tried fixing it by different ways however the only one that had the same issue was in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/1lfti4d/graphical_issue_with_minecraft/ . I tried different ways and just found out like the OP of that post that just versions before 1.21.5 of Minecraft work however I still think that it can be fixed since someone said tat he had the same but fixed with a mod (even if it happens with and without mods). Here is some specs that I have of my graphics if it may help:

so i was trying to figure out the reason for the lag and stuttering I was getting in CK3 on Linux. I tried switching between DX11 and vulkan, but nothing helped. Then I stumbled onto this weird fix that literally tripled my FPS. I restarted the system and jumped straight into the game the second it booted. Once I was in, I toggled (Advanced Shader Effects)off which made the graphics look like a straight up PS2 port. then truned it back on. For some reason it worked and i am playing on a 100+ fps rn

using dxvk i get the failed to initalize message from the rockstar launcher

using opengl it boots into gtaiv but it stays a black screen with full white bar and outlines on the left and right. pure black and white no transitions or anything.

protonversion: experimental

os: mint (xfce)

gpu: gtx 660 (470 driver)

mods: fusionfix

only relevant error i found is this one:

I've been thinking about moving from windows to linux for a while now but the risk of getting banned from games like Overwatch, League Of Legends always manages to make me rethink switching, is Linux ever going to be "sanctioned" by online games or are we stuck with windows if we want to play online?

I saw a good handful of people commenting yesterday about how unacceptable it is for the game to be borked yesterday. Some said they refunded the game. Some raged about DRM breaking it.

Proton Hotfix fixed it, not Pearl Abyss.

So basically I've found physical copies of the first Stalker Trilogy. But since installing old DVDs seems more obnoxious I went for a Fitgirl repack instead and tried to run it via Lutris. I get the Launcher, select Shadow of Chernobyl and it launches the Game, I get a short black screen and then a crash. Idk how to access the log, only option I get is to "Send report" (which probably would go nowhere) and I'm honestly out of ideas on how to make that shit work.

I use Arch btw
