Tried Bazzite, crashed and didn't recognize my GPU. Same with POP OS. But Linux Mint just worked after I installed my drivers it just worked.

I could download all the apps I needed, modded my games, and am fully setup on my desktop environment. Loving it so far and thought I'd share my experience with anyone else swapping from Windows.

Where has this been my entire life? I have been getting good output from my Radeon 6600 on Fedora 42 but then I installed Lact today. Now games that were staggering down to 35 gps are now holding steady on the high fifties/sixty gps and all I did was tell it to use the highest clock speeds. Temps and power are still in good range. Can’t recommend Lact enough!

I can provide any extra information if needed. but basically game works fine until the loading screen, I can access all settings before I start the game and get stuck here. I've also pressed cancel (to run teh wine debugger, like it says) and nothing happens. I am using proton 9.0,

Hello there! I can’t seem to make MangoHUD work with Lutris.

I have an old laptop with MX Linux where I occasionally play old games. I would like to have MangoHUD show me fps and other info, but I can’t seem to make it work. It is installed, I can configure it with Goverlay, I tick off the option to use it in Lutris but nothing, it never shows.

Anybody has any idea on what I’m missing?

so i have this issue, i had debian on my hp 2006 desktop, it worked but i would get a odd error saying some issue trying to use sober, now im trying linux mint since i can actually fix my flatpak, witch kept giving error also, well its running rn and it gave me a error half way through, noiw i have to start over, is this usuall?

so i feel like doing some (gaming) benchmarks from the point of view of system software tweaks. in this part 1 i will explore what could possibly affect the results, so i won't have to compare all combinations in part 2.

power saving vs not: power saving means the default settings in cachyos, not means that i turn off PSS in bios, which should make the cpu never clock down. though in practise some linux side commands still say that some of the cores dip below the base clock briefly. the OS power saving options generally affect similar things, bios is just simpler for me.

x11 xfce vs wayland kde: should be obvious. with xfce i have compositor disabled.

vulkan vs opengl: opengl is not too interesting on its own, but perhaps there are differences with some combinations?

system vs flatpak: it is rumored that flatpak may cause a performance hit due to its sandboxing.

an overview of the tests used: furmark 2 covers ogl vs vk and system vs flatpak scenarios. xonotic (ogl) covers system vs flatpak. rpcs3 covers a cpu heavy scenario, and the configuration used is high compatibility with some key optimizations turned off (this is a heavy but realistic use case, as the usual optimizations sometimes cause severe issues).

conclusions:

-x11 xfce has cursor lag in furmark while wayland kde does not

-vulkan tends to have stuttering in furmark, and it behaves differently between x11 xfce and wayland kde

-constant cpu speed removed the furmark vk stutter in wayland kde non-flatpak specifically (?), but slightly less work got done overall (retested this once with the same result)

-no real differences between system and flatpak performance

-no real differences in performance between x11 xfce and wayland kde with opengl

details:

I switched to Linux a month ago. It's going great for now, I set up VScodium, heroic games launcher and few other things. Now I wanna play bloodborne on my pc using the shadps4 emulator but I'm broke af. Is there a way I can't do it without actually buying the game?

I checked a few videos, forums, threads but everything is mixed up and clumsy af. So does anybody have a concrete method to do it?

I'm in the middle of switching from Windows to Linux (CachyOS (arch based) + GNOME). I've been using Linux for quite a while now, but have never considered it seriously till now. On Windows I had all my non steam game saves junction linked to my HDD (making backups easier and every time I nuked, all I had to do was junction link the saves again). I also used Parsec, specifically Parsec + the Parsec VDA which made remoting into my PC bliss.

I'm trying to create a VM on Linux, but being someone who really doesn't know much about OS's etc, I have zero clue how to do this. I've messed up a couple of times now and have had to restore btrfs snapshots like 9 times today. I have a dummy plug, but I'd really like to use software because it makes the back of my PC much cleaner and I don't want to become reliant upon it.

I'll start this off by saying im using Garuda the gaming version that they have. I have a lot of games on my steam account that I already own and recently bought that I can not play because they are windows os only. I can't seem to find a way around that so I wanted to ask the people whats the safest and easiest way to switch over to Windows and keep all my Linux setting and what not in tact. I'll also answer any other questions as well.

Few months ago, I created an app that let you use your phone as a controller for your pc. There was a lot of issues faced by people who tested it. If you are reading this, thank you so much for testing it. But since then, I have worked upon it day and night. From changing the socket connection to UDP connection, then from using Python library to using Linux uinput module with c++. And here I am, to present you the best version of Gamypad for now. This is an app for everyone who use Linux, and want to play multiplayer games but can't currently buy a game controller. This is not a replacement of a physical gamepad, I got many people upset last time but this is not at all a replacement, phsyical gamepad is always better. But this is for those, who are like me, can't get a gamepad but want to experience multiplayer or just want to sit on their couch and play some retro games!
