Deep Rock Galactic not responding when its the active window

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. August 2025 - 09:55

when i wanted to play DRG (Deep Rock Galactic) yesterday on my laptop, wich uses OpenSUSE Tumbleweed with Gnome on Wayland, it didnt wanna work right.

the game opens, shows the developer logo's and then it just stays at a black screen instead of showing the DRG splash screen.

the splashscreen does appear when i alt tab, but when i try interacting with the game, nothing happens.

the imputs get registered, but the immage itself is frozen.

when i alt tab to lets say firefox and view all open windows, drg works perfectly fine, until i make it the active window and then it goes right back to not working.

i did an update yesterday afternoon, wich fixed the issue, but this morning the issue is back.

i allready tried rebooting, switching off of proton experimental, i tried verifiying the files and even reinstalled the game but nothing works.

any idea's on how to fix this?

Wither 3 poor preformance

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. August 2025 - 07:22

I just recently started using arch linux on my dualbooting laptop with windows time now and have noticed that witcher 3 runs way worse on arch than on windows. Even with the lowest graphics preset it run without lagging. I haven't done a lot of research about this, but from what I have read I thought that games that run on linux shoud run better than on windows or at least just as good. Would apprecieate some insight or tips how to get better preformance.

Another roadblock for Linux Gaming down. Dolby Atmos support through pipewire.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. August 2025 - 07:11

I have put together a 7.1.4 virtual surround configuration file and it shockingly works in helldivers 2 and other games that support dolby atmos. This doesn't appear to work in the media players that I've tried(so submit an issue request potentially). Be sure to tune the control values to your preference!!!

Does GTA IV work?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. August 2025 - 05:17

Title. I play GTA V a lot, and just finally bought GTA IV to play through that game as well for the story aspect of it.

GTA V has BattlEye, which would ban my online account instantly because it freaks out when it sees Linux. I do NOT want to get banned, as my Rockstar account is already on thin ice for modding GTA V. I've been banned once already.

I want to play GTA IV, but my Windows drive is currently full. If it'll install and work on Linux without getting me banned or setting up any other red flags for Rockstar, then I'll just download it there.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

How do I update mod organizer 2

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. August 2025 - 03:39

So play on steamOS/Linux and the last time I got the prompt to update it, it ruined my game files.

I’ve spent a lot of time modding the game and I’d hate to do it again.

Is there a certain way you should update it on Linux?

TLDR; How do I update MO2 without ruining my game files?

Thank you!

Is it possible to play Black Ops 2 (Campaign) on Linux?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. August 2025 - 03:17

Hi!

I'm completely new about linux gaming.
I want to play Black Ops 2 on my Linux Mint (in solo only, like campaign) but I can't manage to do it.

I've heard about Plutonium a lot of times, but it seems it only works for Zombies or Multiplayer.

So is it possible to play BO2 on Linux for solo mode?
If so, how can I do it? Steam? Lutris? Something else?

Thank you so much for your help!

I want to play Chapters 3 and 4 using this below native Linux port. Better yet, I'm using a lower-end Chromebook.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. August 2025 - 01:36

DELTARUNE CHAPTERS 3&4, that is.. I can't edit the title.. sorry

Here's my Linux data:

Linux penguin 6.6.76-08174-g2f3b34fb3650 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Thu, 19 Jun 2025 18:59:07 -0700 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I'm using bookworm, debian/ubuntu.

Please tell me how to go about making it possible to play on my Chromebook. Chapters 1&2 worked just fine on the the same one. Also, please give me an alternative from deltaport by pugdev on github. It would really help me if you could do so.

EDIT: It's fine if there isn't a way, but it would be nice if you could explain why.

Fix for Black Bar on the Right in CS2 at 4:3 (1440x1080) on Arch Linux with KDE Plasma (Wayland)

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 15. August 2025 - 00:25

I was running Counter-Strike 2 on Arch Linux with KDE Plasma (Wayland) in fullscreen mode at 4:3 resolution (1440x1080). My monitor is 1920x1080, but using -w 1440 -h 1080 in the launch options caused a black bar to appear on the right side. The 1280x960 resolution worked fine without any issues. The problem seemed related to Wayland’s handling of non-standard resolutions.

Solution
The fix was straightforward-modifying the SDL_VIDEO_DRIVER environment variable in the CS2 launch script. Here’s what I did:

  1. Located the cs2.sh file in the game’s directory (usually ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/game/Counter-Strike Global Offensive/cs2.sh).
  2. Opened the file in a text editor.
  3. Found the line: export SDL_VIDEO_DRIVER=X11
  4. Replaced it with: export SDL_VIDEO_DRIVER=Wayland
  5. Saved the file and launched CS2 with the parameters -w 1440 -h 1080.
  6. In the game settings, switch to Windowed mode first, then back to Fullscreen.

After this, the black bar disappeared, and the game displayed correctly at 1440x1080!

Using Linux (pipewire) as a Nintendo Switch 2 audio output

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. August 2025 - 23:47

For the past few months I've been playing with my nintendo switch while using my Arch installation as a Bluetooth audio speaker through pipewire, listening both to my discord vc, music and the switch game audio.

Now, switching to the switch 2 I'm unable to use my PC as a speaker, it will never pair (I think it's most likely a protocol mismatch). My switch 2 work flawlessly with any Bluetooth headphones but I haven't been able in any way to connect it to my PC. Did anyone run into the same problem and found any workaround or fix?

I've even tried to enable Bluez experimental mode but still had no luck

Vsync troubles

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. August 2025 - 23:22

Lately I've been trying full Linux gaming after years on dual boot. The problem I've noticed in every game: it has great FPS with Vsync off, but much worse, with fps drops, when it's on.

One example is an old WoW client. I turn off every graphics option and get stable 300 fps with vsync off. When I enable vsync I would expect to have 240 fps.. But I get 80-120.

Same thing in Overwatch: 160-170 with vsync off, 80-120 with it on.

The problem with having vsync off is that I get bad frame pacing. I can't call it tearing. It's more like whole frames are skipped. This becomes very noticeable on camera rotation.

My setup: Asus Rog Strix laptop with Nvidia 2070 Fedora 42 Nvidia drivers: 575.64.05 Monitor 240hz

I've tried running with Lutris, with Steam, different wine versions, different proton versions.. Tried limiting FPS to 120. Tried different env vars (vblank, etc).. nothing helps.

WH3 Mod Manager

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 14. August 2025 - 22:08

Hi. Has anyone tried running the wh3 mod manager by Shazbot on Linux? I am playing Warhammer III with quite a lot of mods and the mod manager by Shazbot is way better that the one offered by CA but I am having trouble trying to run the game through it.
