Heya! I realize this question might be better suited for the r/Fallout subreddit, but figured I'd ask here first in case anyone else can help or went through the same thing.

So I have Fallout New Vegas Ultimate on Steam. I also have Fallout 3 GOTY, but it's on Epic Games Store (got it back when Amazon Prime gave the game away for free during the first season of Fallout on Prime). Now, IIRC, I can install Epic Games games via Heroic (though I admit, I've never used Heroic before... So I'll have to figure that out).

My question is this: I want to try the Tale of Two Wastelands mod that combines Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. Their installation wiki says they support combining the games across platforms (e.g., if I have GOG FNV and Steam F3). I know Jackify can set it up. My question is, does the cross platform thing work on Linux too? I wanted to ask in case anyone else has tried to set it up on Linux and had success. I currently only use NV with the Viva New Vegas mod list I had installed through Jackify.

If it helps (doubt it matters though), I am running on Bazzite-deck.

I'm making this post to highlight how stupid the decision from the GNOME devs to not support server side decorations on Wayland is, and how broken it makes GNOME look, and not just look, but actually be.

And RPCS3 is not the only app affected by this, every application that doesn't have client side decorations is affected by this, I've made a post that got removed months ago highlighting this same issue with Spotify, and other apps that are affected by this issue are MPV, Proton games when running on Wayland, Wine applications when they are running on Wayland, Minecraft running natively on Wayland, and these are just some examples, of course there are many more apps that are affected and this will only increase in the future when more apps switch to using Wayland by default.

All of those apps that I've listed will either have some horrible client side decorations that are completely different from the gnome theme or will have no decorations at all like in the case of RPCS3 games and Wine/Proton apps and games.

This is an issue that needs to get solved by GNOME supporting server side decorations on Wayland as KDE and COSMIC both support them and don't have this issue!

It's completely unacceptable that the DE that is still considered to be the face of the Linux desktop in distributions like Ubuntu, is broken like this.

What kind of impression of Linux would get someone that switches from Windows when they see that the apps they want to use and games they want to play won't have any titlebar? It's just a matter of time until Wine and Proton switch to using native Wayland and this issue is going to get much more apparent as time passes.

Hi there

I started playing WoW with battle.net launcher running through faugus

Everything is running well but when I try to change something about graphic settings in wow and clic in apply changes the game window closes but still running in background (I only hear the music and sounds but cant keep playing)

The only thing I can do is kill the process leaving the changes unsaved

Does anyone face the same problem and knows how to solve it? I've searched a lot and asked to chatgpt (lmao) but I can't find any solution yet

OS: Zorin OS 18 (Core), up to date

hardware i think is relevant: RX 9060XT 16GB, Lenovo Legion R27qe

I'm launching the game through Steam if that's relevant.

1. The settings in Cyberpunk 2077 don't show an option for FSR4 when my GPU should support it, only options for FSR FidelityFX 3.0 and FSR Frame Gen 3.1 appear. I have tried to use a command I found that's supposed to fix this (PROTON_FSR4_UPGRADE=1 %command%), also in compination with using proton hotfix and the most recent versions of ProtonGE and ProtonCachy instead of proton experimental but that didn't work.

2. Is it normal when using FSR Frame Gen that the option to turn on VSync is locked to off? And if so, why?

3. Is it normal that framerates below 60fps look a lot more stuttery than they should specifically when using Frame Gen? I know you're not supposed to use Frame Gen at low framerates and I don't plan on doing that but I just want to know if that means that something is wrong with my GPU.

4. The HDR option is grayed out and set to "-". And when I use the command PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 the HDR just looks way too overblown. (the HDR option on my monitor is set to automatic)

I haven't been able to check if these problems also appear in other games because I barely have any games so far. But I know that the first issue also appears when running the game through Lutris/Wine.

I'm running Linux 6.19.2-200.nobara.fc43.x86_64.

The controller I am trying to get to work is the "GameSir Tegenaria Lite Wired Controller for PC". On Windows 11, this worked out of the box. On Nobara, it briefly showed up in removable devices in the system tray then vanished.

I have tried the following:
Forcing steam input (controller doesn't detect).
Uninstalling the xone and xone-firmware and replacing with xpad (https://github.com/paroj/xpad).
System restarts and fresh boots.
Unplugging and plugging into various USB ports on the tower.
Installing the welcome plugins Nobara suggested on startup.

It lights up, but there's no input and no games recognise it, nor does Steam.
Please help, this is such a good and comfy controller and I would hate to put it away.

I'm a linux noob for the most part, so if you could be as explanatory as possible without speaking alien, that would be so appreciated. Thank you.

Hello!

A long time ago, when using Windows, I bought Sea of Thieves on the Microsoft Store. Now, the game is available on Steam too which would be amazing. However, I don't wanna buy the game again just to have a game I already own on my Steam account instead. Looking at ProtonDB I saw that the game should work great on Linux. Now this is my issue:

I tried using Lutris to find Microsoft Store or Xbox, thinking that I could take that sort of approach to find it there, but without luck (Sea of Thieves is only suggested through Steam there?).

I logged on to the Microsoft Store, somehow imagining that I could just download it, but Microsoft keeps nagging about Xbox Gamepass. I dont want to play my game in 720p through my browser with 200 ping unless I subscribe, I just wish to have a download link for the game I bought. So no luck there.

Is there a real way for me to play this game on Fedora without having to buy the thing again just to have it in a different library?

Hey everyone!

I've been running Wreckfest dedicated servers on Linux for a while and got tired of managing everything through the terminal so I built a small GUI tool to make it easier.

It's called Wreckfest Server Manager and it lets you start, stop and monitor your Wreckfest 1 and Wreckfest 2 dedicated servers through a simple graphical interface. You can pick your server scripts via a file dialog, check port status and do an emergency shutdown if things go sideways.

I also included ready-to-use sample scripts for both Wreckfest 1 and Wreckfest 2 you can find them directly in the repository files. Just set your server path at the top and you're good to go.

It comes as an AppImage so there's nothing to install just download, make it executable and run it.

Still early days (alpha), so things might not be perfect yet but it works well on my setup. Would love to hear if anyone else finds it useful or runs into issues!

Hey guys, I run World of Warcraft through the Faugus launcher on Pop!_OS. Everything works fine, except that I can't run WoW at 1440p on my 1440p monitor. The maximum I can select is 1080p.

Do you have any advice on how to fix this?
