UT2K4 on Linux - Strange mouse glitch I can't figure out. Left click sends mouse pointer to top left?
Set up UT2K4 on Linux today. Game runs great, except when my mouse is captured by the game, every time I left click, the mouse cursor jumps to the top left of the screen. So I can get through menus just find by turning off the "capture mouse" setting and playing in windowed mode - but once I get into a game, I shoot my gun once and I'm looking at the sky!
I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of to fix this and I cannot possibly figure out what is causing it. I am unsure if this is an issue with Wine/Proton, an issue with my config, a hardware problem, or what! Never seen anything like it in my life. Hopefully somebody has heard of this!

Stutters in games
So I have been gaming on Linux for years now but then I started playing BF6 which forced me to be on windows for awhile but now when I'm back get really bad stutters. I included a video from FFXIV where it was the most noticeable. I have also tried overwatch but they aren't do noticeable. Seems to happen when animations loads in.
I have tried different schedulers and syncs and versions of proton/wine without any change. I have also tried switching to x11 also without change.
Distro: CachyOS (Had the same issue on Fedora)
CPU: i5-13600k
GPU: AMD 6900XT
DE: KDE
Current Scheduler: BPFLAND
Mesa info:
apiVersion = 1.4.328
driverVersion = 25.3.5
deviceType = PHYSICAL_DEVICE_TYPE_DISCRETE_GPU
deviceName = AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT (RADV NAVI21)
driverID = DRIVER_ID_MESA_RADV
driverName = radv
driverInfo = Mesa 25.3.5-arch1.2
conformanceVersion = 1.4.0.0
Any help figuring out how to fix these stutters will be appreciated.

Okay I know it's another what distro should I use post but I have very specific concerns that I would like feedback on
I've bounced off of a few distros now because of some very specific things and I want specific feedback on it, sorry it's such a repetitive question but my concerns are not answered in the FAQ.
Here's what I've tried so far:
Bazzite:
- Immediately bounced off because I couldn't install mullvad vpn, which is because it was atomic but I didn't know what atomic meant or why installing it wasn't working. It's a dealbreaker for me so I gave up
Cachyos:
- Works fine, I guess
- CachyOS package manager and octopi just both feel clunky and not very professional
- It was missing some packages that it cut because it tries to be minimal and I had to do some troubleshooting
- The wallpapers provided are all sexualized neko anime ladies which just gives neckbeard vibes and isn't very professional
- The servers went down literally while I was installing the operating system and that broke my system until they came back up
- I'm worried about it being a small development team and the quality nosediving like manjaro apparently did
Pop OS:
- No night light mode, immediate dealbreaker.
- It's a shame because I really really like cosmic and would love to daily it but not until it's got night light mode.
- I enjoy having eyes and would like to continue to use them
- I don't know how anyone at system76 agreed to ship cosmic without night light
Fedora:
- Currently writing this from fedora actually, I really like fedora
- But I had to install some codecs from a third party repository to get some features I use working
- Had to go through forum posts to do it because it's a specific issue (steam game recording feature)
- Totally cool with it if that's the last time I have to do that, but worried about this being a repeated situation
- Don't want to wake up to my system broken because I had to use video drivers from a third party repository
- Games take really really long to launch
Haven't tried:
Mint:
- Apparently pretty good
- X11 which means I lose out on some stuff but I don't know what that stuff is
- I do own two different monitors with two slightly different refresh rates
- Don't like the look of cinnamon but if it can be riced I'm game
Nobara:
- Same concerns as cachy os about it being a small development team
Ubuntu:
- cannonical
Oh ALSO:
GNOME appears to have compositor issues on my system across multiple distros. I think it's because I have both an X3D chip and a graphics card.

The Hunt for Gaming on Linux
The age old question I'm sure many before have asked: What distro would folks recommend for gaming on Linux?
Some inf to hopefully help with guide:
1) I use an Nvidia graphics, and I'm aware most Distros favor AMD over Nvidia for driver compatibility and overall performance. But it was a free 4090 after fixing/cleaning the burnt socket on the card, and runs perfectly fine on the Quiet BIOS setting. No plans to pickup an AMD card.
2) General specs include an AMD R9 7950X 3D, ASUS TUF RTX 4090, 32GB of DDR5 at 6000MT/s, and two 1TB nvme Gen 4 drives. I don't do overclocking or plan to, I prefer to keep things stock and well cooled where possible.
3) I mainly play Single-Player games like Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, Baldur's Gate 3, Horizon: Zero Dawn, God of War, etc. I'm not a competitive/multiplayer gamer, and generally don't play games where Anti-cheats are a huge concern. If I do anything online, it's stuff like Golf with Your Friends, UNO, Peak, or RV There Yet.
4) This is essentially just a gaming PC. I don't do content creation, I don't run suite of applications or monitor a server. Hell, my banking and taxes are either on my phone or my MacBook Pro. If I want anything on this PC, it's Steam, Ubisoft launcher, Epic launcher, and maybe a Office alternative suite.
5) I'd like to lean more on "Plug-in-play", but I am willing to tinker to get things running perfectly. I'm just sick of Windows 11, as I'm sure a lot of people are and I'm ready to make the jump, I think.
Thank you all in advance, and look forward to your thoughts!

GTA V Enhanced on Pop!_OS
So I've been testing out both GTA Legacy and GTA Enhanced recently, with GE-Proton, and I've found that Enhanced nets me a 15FPS boost - most likely because of the VKD3D support and optimized engine. I'm running Pop!_OS COSMIC on my 2019-era PC with 16GB of DDR4 RAM.
The thing is, the Enhanced version uses a bit more VRAM than the 2015 Legacy version, and seeing as I have a 4GB GPU, it's not ideal.
I was just wondering if turning on the setting "Ignore Suggested Limits" will be beneficial to me, since I simply want less blurry textures. Out of 4096MB of VRAM utilization, as shown in the game, I would be using around 4650MB.
Is this a good idea? In-game, with "Ignore Suggested Limits" turned on, I mostly reach 3.8GiB of video memory usage. It may spike to the complete 4.0GiB at times, but I don't notice any lag and/or stutter, and it climbs back down within around half a minute, so I'm not sure if the usage bar in GTA V is actually accurate at all.
I've never posted here before, so my apologies if this is the wrong place. Thanks in advance!

Epic Games library not loading in SteamOS - Pretty Print error fix
Launching games installed with wine
Hello... To those who use GOG games installed with manually created prefixes. How do you organize and launch games? Do you click through the file explorer? Or make desktop launchers? Or start menu items? I've been experimenting with building my own wine prefixes and I think I'm happy with how it works... But with a larger library (100+games), how do YOU launch a game in this scenario? TIA!

Anyone else having issues updating World of Warcraft in Battle.net?
I went to play wow and it said the servers were incompatible so I checked battlenet launcher and it had an update. When i tried to run it, it said to run battle.net as administrator. I checked with file permissions, everything seemed fine. Tried using faugus launcher, all kinds of different protons, no dice. I wiped everything, and reinstalled. As soon as it installed WoW, it had an update and the same issue. Is anyone else seeing thiis? (Im on cachyos, been using protonupge10-32 with no issues on anything else, but ive tried a host of other versions to no avail)

Playtest 20260222
Can anyone please explain to me how HDR calibration works?
Rocket League will still be supported after easy anti cheat is added
Finally, we know some of you love to play on Steam Deck and on Linux operating systems through apps like Proton, and this will still be supported with Easy Anti-Cheat on.
Kind of killing bakkesmod but at least not killing Linux support.

Random black screen in Black Myth Wukong
Hi. Playing this Black Myth Wukong on EndeavourOS,
CPU Ryzen 5600x
GPU RX 9070 xt
No special compatibility layer, Steam choose it itself.
Got perfect 60 FPS on High+ settings without frame gen or upscaling, native 2560 x 1440.
Sometimes I got random black screen about 2-3 secs during boss fights (it seems like they could appear outside of boss battles, because the game mostly about fighting bosses).
Played 6 hours and got 3 black screens.
When getting black screen the game itself continue to work, my inputs are read, and after 2-3 secs all restored and I can play normally.
So, it didn't lead to any lose due to this problem, but it may happen sometimes.
Black screens seems absolutely random, no special effects from bosses, their actions or mine.
It seems like it's driver problem, may be can I check driver logs or something? How can I achieve that?

Steam on raspberry pi not running games correctly after downloading through Pi-Apps
So i downloaded steam through Pi-Apps on the latest version of raspberry pi os because i wanted to try out a few games on it, but I've yet to get any games to run properly. I tried DOOM 1+2 and it crashes and closes itself every time, I also tried ULTRAKILL but that gives a black screen with a mouse over it. I made sure to turn on proton for both but neither worked. Any tips?
