I wouldn’t call myself a gamer, but I do tend to play some single-player games that interest me, as well as CS2 or Rocket League with my friends on weekends. I haven’t had any major issues with any game I’ve tried playing on Linux in the last 3 years.

Last weekend, one of my friends had an itch to play a battle royale game. What followed was us discovering that basically every major battle royale game either explicitly blocks Linux as an OS or has anti-cheat software that blocks the OS.

we all know windows and steam are conoletely removing wmr fron their support. wmr is alrrady deprecated as of 2023. with all usage on windows going to useless end of 2026 (this year, if you havent left the basement in awhile).

i wanted my HP V1000 (i think ita a G1 but might be G2 but, theres conflicting info out there) to work on the freedom os vs surveillence state, and man, yeah there are guides, but they did not make it easy. 2 weeks of trial and error, fix this, fix that....

so now that ive gotten it working.. i made an install script so you can just.... use it.... you know, easily vs having to go through the bs. if you like the struggle, like i kinda do, then skip this.

if you want your wmr G1 or G2 to work on cachyos-arch https://github.com/sudoxreboot/linux-vr-wmr i have a curl script. its all easy to read and see is safe n clean i dont currently own amd or intel gpus so i cant test the driver update sequence, so feedback on gh would be sick.

i dont see the point in letting a 4k 90hz headset become e-waste. something lije $2billion in e-waste is coming from this from what i've read, not sure if inflated, but still. this is so you can get your headsrt out of that drawer its been sitting in and go play some skyrim vr etc... idk why gaming has become such a chore.

steamvr is not confirmed as working with this. not really needed though. wayvr seems to be stretching the desktop display vertically now, not sure why i changed nothing but after a fresh wipe 2x it just doesnt go to the correct res, if anyone figures that out, gh!

Steam OS is Linux based and heavily optimized compared Windows, however most AAA companies do not support Linux.

WHY do companies seem to hate Linux anyways? What is the reasoning? Is it because it costs slightly more to support a game on multiple operating systems?

Não consigo rodar os jogos steam direito no zorin os

A meio ano, eu usava windows, mas fiquei com dual boot por causa de uma recomendação do meu professor de robótica após uma tela azul no meu pc. Eu usava ubuntu, ate ele tirar a opção de usar x11, já que uso anydesk e ele não funciona com wayland, ai eu troquei pro Cinnamon e recentemente, pro zorin os. mas a maioria dos jogos crasha no meu zorin e eu tenho que usar o windows, apesar de preferir o linux pela performance. Alguma ideia de outra distro que seja melhor pra jogos e tenha compatibilidade com o x11 pra eu poder usar anydesk? o modos de resolver esse problema? I've been wanting to play this game for a long time, it is called Cradle of Nightmares: Flowers to You, but it was only available in chinese. But, recently it got a fan translation from All-Bones Jones.

So, the issue is that if i run the game through proton it launches, and the main menu runs at 60fps, but once I start the game it gets to 9-10fps.
I've tried a lot of old and new protons, and GE-protons, but it seen all the same.

I've tried using this but it launch with a black screen and i get the errors in the images.
I saw that the tool i was using uses another called mkxp-z, so i downloaded it without the other tool and i get the same error.

I don't have another VX Ace game to test, all the other RPG Maker games that I own are from other versions, and they work as intended.

I forgot to mention but as this game is fairly unknown, there is literally no info (that i found at least) about running this game in linux.
Please someone help me, i am getting insane.

I moved two of my laptops onto Linux (Mint for my Surface Book 2 and Fedora for my old Macbook Air). I love both, but they're no where I game. My main workstation desktop is still Windows, and it's also where I play most of my games. I wanna move it over to Linux, but I'm not sure which I should go with. My games are mostly on Steam and I have an NVidia GPU. Which distro has better NVidia hardware support?

Either way, I'm probably gonna go with KDE over Gnome since I found out that Gnome has a very annoying bug when it comes to using a Wacom display tablet.

DualSense Adaptive Triggers & Haptics Working in Arknights: Endfield (Linux / Arch / Proton)

I’ve been playing Arknights: Endfield on Arch Linux and noticed that DualSense adaptive triggers and haptic feedback do not work out of the box under Proton.

After investigating PipeWire, WirePlumber, and how the Sony SDK initializes the controller, I managed to get adaptive triggers and full haptics working reliably.

Technical Background

DualSense haptics on PC are driven by audio signals. On Linux (PipeWire/WirePlumber), there are two main issues.

1. Incorrect Channel Mapping

By default, the controller may appear as:

• Mono output (under "Default")
• Or 4 raw channels (0,1,2,3) under “Pro Audio”

However, games using the Sony SDK expect a proper quadraphonic layout:

FL, FR, RL, RR

If the audio positions are not mapped correctly, haptic signals are sent to invalid channels and vibration does not occur.

2. SDK String Matching

The Sony SDK used by many games explicitly checks for the device name:

"Wireless Controller"

If the exposed PipeWire/WirePlumber node name does not match this string, haptics may fail to initialize or behave inconsistently.

So the device must be renamed accordingly.

The Fix 1. Lutris Environment Variables

Add these variables to your game configuration:

• PROTON_ENABLE_HIDRAW=1
• WINE_HAPTICS=1

This allows Proton to access the raw HID device and enables haptic support inside Wine.

2. Install Proper Udev Rules

Make sure the following package is installed:

game-devices-udev

Without correct permissions, Proton may not be able to access the controller properly.

3. WirePlumber Channel Mapping (Core Fix)

Create the file:

~/.config/wireplumber/wireplumber.conf.d/51-dualsense.conf

With the following content:

After saving, restart PipeWire and WirePlumber:

systemctl --user restart pipewire wireplumber

Testing Utilities

To help distinguish between system-level and game-level issues, I wrote two small tools:

• ds5_test.exe — tests haptic signal through Proton
• ds_verbose_test (native Linux) — tests direct audio-to-vibration

This was verified specifically with Arknights: Endfield, but the WirePlumber mapping approach should work for other games that use the DualSense haptic engine through audio.

If anyone runs into edge cases or wants to dig deeper into the PipeWire side, feel free to discuss.

Hello everyone! I want to play this game, but it doesn't work. I hit Launch and nothing appeared. There was one time that was running, but it crashed in middle of introduction (I guess). I tried using Lurtis and Bottles, but both didn't work. Here's some details:
- Operating System: Nobara 43 KDE Plasma
- NVIDIA Open-Module (v590.48.01 - New Feature Branch, not Production) from RTX 4060
- Linux Kernel: 6.19.2-200.nobara.fc43.x86_64
If you guys want some more information, I can provide information as I can.
I tried following the instructions of AI LLM from Brave AI, but it hallucinated and it was confusing as hell.

On Windows I always keep Turbo Boost disabled, I feel that it uses the CPU too much even in cases where it’s not needed. For example:

Playing GTA IV I get a solid 60 FPS and the CPU is at around 60 or 75 degrees. When Turbo Boost is on, I get around 80 to 85 degrees for the same performance. So… unless I’m playing something really demanding (which I won’t, look at my GPU) then I don’t see the need of using this boost for now.

I haven’t found a simple way to do this, the closest I got was using RyzenAdj, but that only allows me to set a temperature limit, not power or anything else (meaning the CPU still goes over the base clock speeds and such)

Hey everyone! Longtime windows user here and have been getting the itch to switch to Linux since I hear it’s better performance. I have some questions.

1. I heard some games don’t run on Linux (not sure which ones), and that kinda scared me since I play a lot of different games and if I pay for it, I kinda wanna play it.

2. How easy is the install? I’ve watched a couple tutorials and it seems easy enough but after 15 years of doing windows installs, I know anything can happen and stuff can screw up randomly.

3. Which install of Linux is best for everyday use/gaming/customizability? I’m heavy on customizing my UI on windows so I’d like the same on Linux.

Hello everyone,

I finally settled with Ubuntu as my OS for my PC I was able to play Squad and Dota 2 for a few days now all ran flawlessly. Then when I tried to play Arc Raiders it was doing a running loop on steam, I tried to change the comparability as suggested on other Reddit post that I have seen but still it doesn't work. I have a dual boot set up when I tried to run it at Window everything ran smoothly.

I attached a picture and video of the issue and some details about my PC.
