Is it actually possible to play GTA V if you can just disable BattEye?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 04. Mai 2026 - 18:39

I mean I see the option to install it on Steam no issue, but from what I understand anticheat is just for online right? I don't use online at all and just want to play story mode with mods (specifically Forests of SA, VisualV, NaturalVision, RDE, and some other mods that require OpenIV to install .oiv files). I believe these mods also work on GTA V Enhanced but right now I am specifically looking at GTA V Legacy as it has support for more mods anyways (I also play on Windows 11 on another SSD I have installed in my PC but I'd like to use CachyOS as my main OS)

Logitech wheel no force feedback?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 04. Mai 2026 - 17:25

Was told to post here, as the post says I’ve used my g27 wheel before and it worked fine. It shows up and tests well In oversteer but there’s absolutely zero force feedback. I can’t play without it tbh. I’ve heard of the new driver but can’t install it. Not sure I wanna mess around with kernels or have space for dual booting another Linux os. Did anyone manage at all? Thanks for any useful reply!

Would love to play on Linux but it doesn't work

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 04. Mai 2026 - 17:16

Hey, I’m trying to figure out why my Linux gaming performance is so much worse than Windows on the same system.

System:

  • Fedora 44 KDE
  • Ryzen 5 3600
  • Radeon RX 9070 XT
  • Kernel: 6.19.14-300.fc44.x86_64
  • Mesa: 26.0.5
  • RADV: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT (RADV GFX1201)
  • linux-firmware: 20260410-1.fc44
  • GameMode: 1.8.2
  • MangoHud: 0.8.3~rc1
  • Steam/Proton: Proton Experimental tested, also tried Proton-GE
  • Current AMDGPU performance profile: profile_peak

Cyberpunk 2077 benchmark comparison:

  • Windows: average ~118 FPS, min ~85 FPS
  • Fedora/Linux: average ~88 FPS, min ~62 FPS

Every setting is the same, with raytracing off.

Deadlock issue:
Deadlock also has extreme framedrops on Linux. It starts high, then drops badly and can feel like ~15 FPS for a while. Sometimes it then seems capped around 60 FPS for some time. Proton Experimental and Proton-GE did not improve it.

What I already checked:

  • profile_peak is active during gaming.
  • GPU sysfs logs show profile_peak, gpu_busy_percent=100, sclk around ~2300–2400 MHz, mclk at 1258 MHz.
  • When frames drop, the gpu frequency drops to under 600MHz, but I do not know if it is the cause of the result of the drop.
  • vulkaninfo --summary shows RADV correctly:
    • deviceName = AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT (RADV GFX1201)
    • driverName = radv
    • driverInfo = Mesa 26.0.5
  • Kernel log did not show obvious hard AMDGPU reset messages like ring gfx timeout, GPU reset, wedged, or GCVM_L2_PROTECTION_FAULT.

Does anyone have an idea where such a big Windows vs Linux gap could come from on this setup? Could this be related to Fedora 44, Mesa 26.0.5, RADV support, Proton, GameMode, or something specific to RDNA 4 cards?

I would prefer not to switch distros. Any tips for what to test next would be appreciated.

Detroit Become Human shader compiling at every launch

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 04. Mai 2026 - 16:11

Hi,

I recently discovered, that every single time I launch Detroit Become Human it compiles shaders. I searched on forums and protondb too, but I couldn't solve my problem.

Has anyone else had this problem? If yes, how did you solve it?

OS: Arch Linux
CPU: Ryzen 5 2600X
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060

Total War: WARHAMMER III intermittent black screen during AI turns and sometimes for every mouse movement during player turn

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 04. Mai 2026 - 16:10

I am on a fresh install of Fedora Workstation 44 with the latest NVIDIA drivers (595.71.05) and I am trying to play Total War: WARHAMMER III via Proton Experimental (not native). I have a 9800x3D and 4090.

It actually runs pretty well but every now and then, possibly when my FPS hits low points during the AI turns, the screen goes entirely black for a few frames. As soon as the AI turns finish, it is usually fine.

Also, after a particular action happens during my turn, the screen goes entirely black whenever I move my mouse. I have noticed that if I hit "Print Screen" to take a screenshot, it will "fix" it for a time. Eventually, though, it will happen again.

I've tried a few different things to no avail, like setting `PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1` or using GE-Proton10-34. I have tried other games and have not had this happen to them, so it must be something specific to TW: WH III.

I tried searching for similar issues but was not able to find any. Any thoughts?

Is there a way to disable "Allow Flipping" in NVIDIA X Server settings?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 04. Mai 2026 - 15:46

Hello everyone!

This option is enabled by default after each boot, if I wanna play I must manually come and uncheck it, otherwise my games always freeze on launch, is it possible to leave it unchecked permanently?

Thanks in advance.
