So i just downloaded Borderlands GOTY (Again the original not the enhanced) On linux Mint Cinnamon 22.2 on steam and the game is locked at 60-62 fps while i dont mind in a way as i play all my games at 60 fps i would like to know why it is locked there is no option to lock it or even v-sync option and the Nvidia panel on linux doesn't allow to lock at games at 60 fps so normally the game should either be running at 180fps by default as that is my monitors refresh rate or at unlimited fps, using steam proton 9.0-4 ?

i installed a repacked game, i need to see if it works on linux before purchase, but it needs an ms visual c++ redistributable, tried installing in on the game through winetricks but it does nothing. What now?

edit: I found a c++ visual in winetricks of the game. Then it told me my system didnt support dx12 and to try and run it without the -dx12 command. Then it told me that it needed dx12. So after 30 minutes, i found to go into wine configuration and found the game was running in win xp version of win. so i selected win 10 and now it works magically. Hope this will help anyone.

Hi, so I've been playing Mech Arena via linux (Garuda dragonized) for about 3 years now. Linux is not supported but it runs almost perfectly. After a minor update yesterday the game launches, I can move the mouse (and see the cursor) but I can't select anything. So keyboard and L/R mouse buttons are suddenly useless. I thought maybe this was a Wayland issue, but the same thing happens using X11. Any ideas on how to approach this?

I’m noticing that I’m more and more frustrated with Steam launcher due it’s bugs and unnecessary issues that drain performance. I use Windows and I’m planning to switch on Fedora in early 2026. I want to use some launcher where I can have console-like experience (it just warms my soul) and that works both on Linux and Windows, so I can manage my data when I switch. Heroic seems the best now but it doesn’t seem to have the big picture like mode.

Issue: When playing GTA V, particularly when driving or moving fast in general, the game begins to lag/stutter. I only play single-player (story mode).

Some things I've already tried: Using Proton-GE, adding DXVK_ASYNC=1 to launch options, disabling pre-caching in steam settings, enabling vsync in GTA V settings. Doing all of these resulted in the stuttering/lag being much less prevalent and severe, but the issue still persists and is quite annoying.

What other steps should I take? I'm not well-versed in Linux gaming, so I'd appreciate patience with me.

I was playing the game just fine two days agora on my Steam Deck, but tried to play now and the game doesn't even launch, It just shows the first screen and then crashes. A person created a topic on Steam community having the same error using Linux. My guess is that some update broke the game.
