Window Games on Linux
There has to be a way right? Playing BO6 on a Linux, Not everyone cheats on a Linux. Most of us just likes Linux better than windows that don’t mean we can’t use the hardware that we have on our computers to play a game that you can play everywhere!

AMD System optimization guide
Hi guys, i wanted to let you know that i created a performance optimization guide for AMD cpu and gpu systems.
But a lot of stuff can also be applied to intel and nvidia systems, so yeah, maybe optimization guide in general i guess.
https://github.com/WhitePeace36/LinuxAMDGamingOptimizationGuide
I described every tweak and what it does. Because the last time i posted my settings some people ragebaited me... and now i made that guide.
Furthermore i also ran into issues recently which i documented the fixes here.
I hope it helps. 😄

xwayland vs native wayland
Hi!
Quick question because the difference in performance between xwayland and native wayland is very surprising to me.
In some games, like for example Diablo 4, Dead as Disco, Metal Gear Solid 5, TW:WH3 enabling native wayland using Proton-GE or CachyOS parameter PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 gives even 30-40 more FPS. Is it normal that xwayland is underdelivering so much?
I've been using linux for a year now and it has always been a thing practically.
I'm on Fedora 44 KDE, AMD 9070 and 5700x3D with 32GB 3600Mhz DDR4 RAM.
Currently i'm on MESA 26.0.5

How do I move the onscreen keyboard?
So I have tried suggestions from the other post but nothing seems to work, Im thinking it might have to do with a scaling issue, as it does work on my 1080p display at 100% kde scaling, but not on the 4k display on 225% scaling, im on cachyOS using plama desktop and wayland, any suggestions what could be the problem here? Much appreciated!

Leverless Haute42 controller not working
I used this controller just fine a few days ago but now my system is refusing to detect it. My xbox controller works fine, and this leverless should read as an xbox controller to the system as well but nada. I've changed nothing with the controller. In my system I've just ran updates. Nothing else changed.

Monster Hunter Wilds FSR4 water grainy, noisy artifacting
I am on CachyOS, latest 26.1 mesa drivers, DLL swapped to fsr 4.1. cachyos proton 11, 9060XT 16gb
i hope the video isnt too blurry and laggy, you can see the water near the trees in the focus of the video have subtle grainy effects, akin to white noise, that take time to resolve and stabilize, when i turn my camera. it is mainly the water that gets this artifacting, mainly at an angle. In the past ive also had the grass and tree foliage in the plains have a similar issue. I'll assume youtube's compression will have made it harder to notice but i assure you all that it is quite noticable and distracting for me.
The issue persists regardless of proton ge, or CachyOS proton. The Issue persists whether it's the built in fsr 4.0.3 or the dll swapped 4.1. persists on all fsr presets. If I turn off FSR the flickering artifacting is gone entirely. This persists with or without framegen too. The game's built in xess doesnt have this issue (tho id rather not play on that bcz its lower quality). Currently not using any mods, only ReFramework.
I've tried swapping different protons, swapping back and forth FSR versions, adding and removing steam launch args to no avail. I've tried to google for similar problems but i've been unsuccessful, hence the post. I don't know if this is an issue exclusive to linux or not so any addifional info, if available would be appreciated!!!

While playing a racing game I felt TMR/Hall Effect sticks sluggish on Linux. So I checked the driver Fuzz/Flat settings.
I finally figured out why my TMR controller (GuliKit ES PRO/Vader 4 PRO) felt like it was smoothing my inputs on CachyOS and u/DraugerOS. It turns out the xpad driver applies a default "fuzz" (anti-jitter) and "flat" (deadzone) that basically kills the 11-bit precision of these sensors.
If you run evtest, you'll probably see a fuzz of 16 or more. For a high-res stick, that's way too much.
So I got evdev-joystick (part of the joystick package on Debian or game-devices-udev on Arch/AUR).
Then: sudo evdev-joystick --evdev /dev/input/event29 --deadzone 2 --fuzz 8
This configuration is helping me a lot! It made my inputs so much more responsive and precise in Asphalt Legends (I really love this game) — I'm actually top 1000 in a competition right now because of this "speed trick".
Use evdev-joystick -h to see what can be useful to you.
I believe that these tweaks on fuzz and deadzone might not be necessary for games that don't rely on aiming or steering, but for racing, it's a game-changer.
P.S: My older post was removed cos I used AI. Sorry, bros. Here is my genuine text. I hope it helps someone.
images: my CachyOS terminal while I was doing "the speed trick", screenshots from Asphalt lederboard, some of my controllers and a book from Samuel Rawet.
Cheers

CachyOS desktop edition on handheld?
So.. after trying out Bazzite and steamOS I'm starting to get frustrated with the immutability of both OSs. I want to try out CachyOS, but the restriction of only being able to use KDE is frustrating (ironically, given that it's the default for SteamOS and Bazzite, it's not a particularly touch-friendly interface).
What would I lose out on if I were to just install the desktop edition on my handheld, and are there workarounds for this? Alternatively, am I better off just forcing a different DE onto the handheld edition?

Linux Gaming / RTX 3080 & Ryzen 5800X 8 core
Hey guys, basically the title. I have dual monitor, 240hz and 60hz and 32gb RAM.
Would like to know the ""best"" distro for gaming besides Bazzite since it's immutable.
I'm not really updated on nvidia drivers on linux so i would appreciate any help.

Which Steam page looks better for my indie horror game?
We’re currently improving the Steam page for our horror FPS The Infected Soul.
Which version do you think looks better visually? (1 or 2)
Any feedback on layout, readability, or overall feel would really help us.
You can also wishlist the game from the link it would mean a lot to us 🙏

Input lag benchmarks. Issues with wayland
I tested input latency (mouse-movement to photon) across a few Linux setups. The main takeaway is that Wayland doesn’t behave well when your in-game FPS goes above the monitor’s refresh rate, whereas X11 scales exactly the way you’d expect.
These are my results in kovaaks when capping below refresh rate and leaving it uncapped (not gpu limited):
As you can see, x11s latency decreases, but for some reason the latency with wayland increases.
I tried the same, but setting my monitor to 240hz instead of 480hz, where the same pattern is visible:
I also tested this in cs2 where the same pattern emerges. x11 gets faster and wayland gets slower:
I think this is the main issue, why most input lag tests that are going around right now are showing that wayland has higher input lag. Especially since not everyone has a 480hz monitor and will easily get more fps than their refresh rate in games like CS or Overwatch.
I compared them in other games as well, where latency differences were mainly margin of error, or even better latency on wayland. In all those tests fps was below the refresh rate:
Another thing i noticed is, that KDE has higher latency with wayland than Niri. But only when using vrr:
The issue with niri is that it doesnt support tearing right now, so it forces vsync.
I think if those issues get fixed, we will have nearly the same latency in wayland as in x11 or Windows

Ghost of Tsushima steam login issue-CACHYOS
Hey everyone,
I am on cachyos, and had been playing ghost of tsushima on steam for awhile on my desktop without any issues whatsoever.
Then over two weeks ago I did an update of the system and now when I open the game, it goes through its little animation, everything works fine until it gets to the screen with a sword on a field and the buttons for logging in should pop up but instead it freezes.
I have done two system updates more since then, as well as tried multiple different proton versions..GE, built in cachyos one, experimental, DW.
I tried a few launcher ideas that I saw online for similar issues...nada. I am stuck.
I do not understand what is causing this. A lot of similar issues online say it is due to the nvidia driver, but all my other games are working just fine and its not like the game does not start up, it just gets stuck at the login.
Really frustrating. I am not a techie person, and am always uncomfortable with diving too deep into this in case I break something by accident.
Does anyone have any ideas or had a similar issue with this game since the new 595.71.05 driver came out?
thanks in advance.

Can't get Stick of Truth to run on Linux.
I am trying to go full time on Linux and end my dependence on Windows for gaming. Since I don't play online, I figure that would be much easier.
At the moment, I wanna play Stick of Truth. I looked it up and I keep seeing that it works out of the box.

Input issue
So I was playing Detroit become human with no issue but the A button stopped working from my 8bitdo ultimate 2 and kde remote desktop asked for input device premission. I granted it and it still doesn't work. Any fix? I'm on latest cachyos version. There are no logs. Its just that the A button doesn't work. The game works fine with proton and it worked fine yesterday.
Mods please don't remove this and if you do please don't ban me

Discord rich presence
For most of the games i play, they dont show the proper game on discord, for example, for silksong it shows Hollowknight Silksong with no game icon on discord, or tf2_linux64 for tf2, it also keeps showing some random game called battlebit remastered. Is there a fix for this? I downloaded steam and discord from the actual website

Le Mans Ultimate black screen on GE-Proton10-34-LMU-hid_fixes
I can't use my steering wheel in some games.
I have Logitech Formula Vibration Racing Wheel.
I'm using Linux 7.0.5-1-cachyos
When the wheel plugged in Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered, i press enter to continue and it closes if i unplug it works fine.
In Forza Horizon 4 doesn't react to wheel.
Oversteer couldn't see the wheel.

Colorful Artifacts in Forza Horizon 5
Every couple of hours in Forza Horizon 5 I get this kind of visual artifacting. When it happens, FPS tanks heavily first. Sometimes it recovers on its own (like in the video), other times the game crashes with this log:

OCCT and FurMark both run fine for hours without errors, and other games don’t show this issue at all. It really seems isolated to Forza.
I’m running an RX 7600 with Proton Experimental (bleeding-edge), kernel 7.0.3-arch1-2, and Mesa 26.0.6-1.
Any help would be appreciated.
