D7VK 1.9 is redefining how old PC games are played through Vulkan
This project follows the path of DXVK so all the legacy games running using D7VK can enjoy Vulkan's speed and advanced Direct3D features such as Full Scene Anti-Aliasing emulation which were not available at the time games where released.
You can watch an introduction about the project in the following video:

A list of games I have tested to work with D7VK. D7VK appears to be can not work with older Wine versions as it needs updated Vulkan versions.

Deadlock issues!
Hi guys! I have twice as low fps on Deadlock on Linux (CachyOS), 90-100 fps on Windows and 40-50 fps on Linux. That's pretty unplayable. Tried different launch options nothing seems to help it. Wanted to know if anyone have/had similar issue and how did you fix it, if it's even fixable. I'd like not to boot to Windows to play that one game. Thanks!

A few questions about Fedora & Steam.
I switched to Linux from Win 11 two months ago, currently on Fedora 44. My setup is pretty basic, I'm using Intel I7 and Geforce 3080.
Here are my questions:
- When using this PC as Steam Remote Play host (and use Steam Link app on other devices), Steam Link clients always shows black screen, but client can send control to the PC. I tried turn on/off the hardware encoding and NVFBC for the host, but no luck.
- If I put any game on an external SSD, the game will not executed, nothing will happen after I hit the Play button, but games can be put into the external SSD, also external SSD can be used normally without problem. It just can't run games. I tried both exfat and btrfs as the format for the external SSD, they both have the same issue. I connected the external SSD via a type-a USB 3.1 port.
- I use controller to play sometimes, every time when I connect a controller to the PC, the system shows a confirmation message asking me if I gonna let this device to control my system. I understand that controllers acting as mouse&keyboard since this is how Steam Input works, and I like it. But can I somehow let the system to automate confirm it? I don't want to back to use the mouse to click every time I turned on a controller.
That's all. I hope those issues are solvable since I like Linux very much.
Thanks.

is it even worth it to dual boot for windows games?
so I switched to Linux for like 4 years ago, and I'm happy now
but I had to dual boot windows 10 because of collage(mainly CST Studio design antenna)
but let's say that I don't need that anymore or at least for the next semester.
so now I have this disgusting dual boot windows, and I though why not use it for league of legends (I'm a new player btw, I can't even play ranked yet, lvl 8)
but that the only thing why I am even boot to windows.
but damn imagine you have to just reboot every time for this one game and then just reboot back to Linux
it very inconvenient
so is it even worth it? do we just have to except the fact that even though you can dual boot to play windows games, because it just annoying.
can you guys give me a better reason why should I just leave this game even though I do enjoy it, a better reason than just me being Lazy?
I mean think about it, we all have the option to dual boot, but would you dual boot for windows only games?

Alan Wake 2
Since there is no Proton DB entry for Alan Wake 2, since it has no Steam Release yet, I thought to make a post about how I managed to get it running, in case anyone is looking for it in the future.
So the answer was quite simple. Heroic Games Launcher. Running Proton Version 11.0-20260428 for CachyOS it simply worked. Performance is about 10% behind my last Windows Session of the game, but it has gone through some major updates since then, so it is not really comparable.
I have been testing it for about 4 hours at this point and have no Problems at all, except for having to bring a flashlight when I go to the toilet at night.

Discord even in "native" Wayland mode still requires Xwayland?
I was just fiddling with some weirdness with Steam and Xwayland on my Labwc desktop, and i noticed that if i kill Xwayland it causes the official Discord to crash despite using --enable-features=UseOzonePlatform --ozone-platform=wayland flags.
After killing Xwayland and relaunching Discord I noticed it spawned a new Xwayland process. Out of curiosity i did sudo chmod -x /usr/bin/Xwayland to make it so that Xwayland can't launch and sure enough Discord will not launch:

Xwayland is still a requirement? Or is there another way to make it truly Wayland native without Xwayland? I know I can run 3rd party clients and I probably will but I am now curious.

A dumb question but how do I actually use protontricks?
I know people said protontricks is noob/foolproof but turns out it's not me-proof.
So I'm trying to play a non-steam game. I added the exe to steam and there's a popup saying I must install .NET Desktop Runtime. I clicked 'Yes' and it downloads the installer. When I open the installer I'm greeted with this protontricks window:
It only lists my steam game and not the non-steam game I added. By default it selected Arma as it's on top of the list so I clicked OK there, and I guess the .NET got installed into Arma? Because when I tried to open my non-steam game and I select Arma, the game launches and not if I select the the other games, but does this mean my Arma gets modified as it installed something there?
This also happens when I try to open other exe app, let's say nexus mod manager, protontricks asked me to select one of my steam games even if it doesn't have any correlation to it. I don't want to select whatever as it feels disorganized, so how do I exactly use this protontricks thing?

Shin Megami Tensei Synchronicity Prologue Lags on my hardware, any ideas why?
Hi, I posted awhile ago, I was seeking help with this title, and its become a dead end, and while I like to get the game running full speed, thats not the main goal of this post.
This free game is the most notorious sucker I've never tried to get working, and thats because on other Nvidia / AMD machines it works fine most of the time, but at other times not so much. The game is an enigma and I like to hear your speculation.
Heres the original post with my specs

System Crashing When Playing Some Games Using Proton
I am having an issue when playing games that use Proton, it is crashing usually within a minute of booting up the game for most games. Usually, the game is stable while in the menu but once in the actual game is when it has issues. Sometimes this happens when changing graphical settings as well.
Setup
OS: Linux Mint 22.3
Kernal: 6.8.0-111-generic
CPU: Intel i7-8086k
GPU: Nvidia 3080 (driver version 580.142)
Crash Report: The package providing /home/shredberg/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Proton could not be found. If you want to generate a stack trace for this crash report, please reinstall it.
This does not happen to any games that are native linux games, this only happens with Proton. I have also stress tested the components using OCCT and have not found any issues, everything runs as normal at reasonable temps (Below 70C).
I have attempted to reinstall steam but that did not help. Any suggestions?
