Question on the current state of fsr 4 on bazzite, and enabling on unsupported games

17. September 2025 - 19:47

I'm wondering, specifically for alan wake 2, possibly Like a dragon gaiden also, how to go about enabling fsr 4 for these titles?

I've seen now you can just had a launch command for fsr 3.1 games, to enable fsr 4. Not sure about fsr 2, or 3, enabled games though...

edit - Would probably help if I added in my gpu, using a 9070 xt.

Steam Friends Activity page lags the whole computer

17. September 2025 - 19:38

Hi folks. To be honest, not sure which subreddit should I post this on, but as it's related to Steam (I suppose?) I chose this one.

The whole point is: My PC gets lagged if I have Steam on the Friends Activity page. YouTube videos slow down to 2-3 fps, window arrangement is slow, keyboard input has a lot of lag... like, everything has lag and low fps. Then, I change the tab to Library or Store and lag is gone. I would like to troubleshoot this because even if I could change the tab after seeing what I want, it's so weird that I wish to find the root cause.

Specs! (I know NVIDIA with Linux has bad rep but gpus are expensive)

Intel i7-9700K, NVIDIA 3070, 32GB RAM, and 1x 4K monitor + 1x 2K monitor in case it matters.

OS: Manjaro 25.0.8 Zetar with up to date packages and GPU drivers.

I ran watch grep some /proc/pressure/* when I was writing this post (Steam is on Library tab) and it shows this:

Cada 2,0s: grep some /proc/pressure/cpu /proc/pressure/io /proc/pressure/irq /proc/pressure/memory VALHALLA: 19:35:15 in 0,002s (0) /proc/pressure/cpu:some avg10=0.00 avg60=0.00 avg300=0.03 total=36042925 /proc/pressure/io:some avg10=0.00 avg60=0.02 avg300=0.00 total=16638373 /proc/pressure/memory:some avg10=0.00 avg60=0.00 avg300=0.00 total=36362

I closed the process, switched Steam to Friends Activity and launched it again, computer got lagged just a few seconds afterwards (it was difficult to write the rest of the post tbh). The watch process of that time:

Cada 2,0s: grep some /proc/pressure/cpu /proc/pressure/io /proc/pressure/irq /proc/pressure/memory VALHALLA: 19:36:51 in 0,002s (0) /proc/pressure/cpu:some avg10=0.00 avg60=0.02 avg300=0.02 total=36379978 /proc/pressure/io:some avg10=0.00 avg60=0.00 avg300=0.00 total=16782002 /proc/pressure/memory:some avg10=0.00 avg60=0.00 avg300=0.00 total=36362

I know these numbers show no bottleneck/CPU overwork but throwing that possibility away helps? question mark?

Thanks for the help beforehand.

Gaming performance on an old rog + bazzite very poor

17. September 2025 - 19:23

So I just switched to Bazzite at the beginning of this week. I have a fairly old rig with a 1070 gpu. Thus far using win10 Ive been able to play pretty much anything with at least medium to high settings and get decent fps.

Thus far I've loved how "linux for dummies" the OS is. The problem I have is gaming performance. For example Control or Witcher3: in windows I had a very steady framerate (I usually locked it to 60fps) and high to medium settings otherwise. However now I'm lucky if I ever get around to 40fps and all the details are blurry and there's a lot of tear. It almost looks like the settings were much lower.

I was hoping to completely switch to linux when win10 EOL comes around and perhaps get a new rig. However, this situation doesn't encourage me to buy ~1500€ rig and then get this kind of performance. I know my current setup is old but in windows there are 0 issues especiallywith the games I play.

I've also tested PopOS a couple of months back and the same issues were present there. Has anyone else encountered these issues? Has anyone found a solution?

ShadPS4 has no option to extract pkg on Linux

17. September 2025 - 19:22

Yes, I didn't download old versions in the project's git. But all of them no longer present the options menu to directly extract pkgs. I downloaded shadPS4 Plus and it showed the same behavior. I use it on Bazzite and I'm not able to process the tutorials that people post on the Internet. Has anyone had success with this?

Sonic Racing Crossworlds demo issues

17. September 2025 - 18:36

Hello everyone! I'm a relatively new Linux user who was planning to buy Sonic Racing Crossworlds, but I decided to wait for the demo to check how well my computer could run it. The demo is finally out today and I'm having a lot of performance issues. The game runs consistently slow and it's making it borderline unplayable, even when I set all the graphics settings to the lowest possible options. My specs should definitely be enough to run the game, and I'm using Mint. No other game I've played so far seems to have problems like that. Is it a proton issue? Is there any way to fix this?

What can I do? Pop OS vs Valorant.

17. September 2025 - 17:17

Hi everyone. This is J0hri, I hope you are having a good day. I've used ubuntu in past for casual purpose but this time I wanted to game, So I researched and found out that Pop_OS is good distro for gaming and installed it. Now there's a problem: I play Valorant frequently and that requires Secure Boot Onn(on windows). And it's well known that Pop_OS requires Secure Boot Off. So, 1. Is there a work arround so I can keep both pop_OS and Valorant(on windows) working? 2. If not with pop OS then which distro would be suitable?

ER Nightreign Crashing On Linux

17. September 2025 - 15:55

Hi everyone,

got a question about specific game , elden ring nightreign , on my pc i5-14400F , 32 gig 5600 ram and rtx 4060 , this game is constantly crashing ( system is perfectly stable and cool and nightreign does not even fully use resources ) , I've tried everything short of installing windows ( not an option , I'd rather give up one game albeit a fun one, than linux ) , tried all possible launch options , proton versions from 7 to hotfix to GE , Nvidia drivers from 550 to 580 open and closed , X11 and wayland and so on. Like literally everything. Now , if it's the game , I'll just accept it and put it away, but thing is on protondb reviews are fine, no one complains about crashes.

So here's my question has anyone tried ER nightreign with Nvidia ? did it crash ?

thanks for any info in advance and sorry for the rant

Question: What would be better... would you be interested in receiving internal pre-demonstration builds of my game along with public playtesting as a retrospective? Note: Builds are only available as deb packages for Linux.

17. September 2025 - 15:39

Hi all.
I'm developing an open-world game, and the first playtest is about to begin (we're waiting for Steam's approval). Although the playtest will only be available as a sandbox without specific gameplay, a tremendous amount of effort was put into this build because the game doesn't use any major commercial engines.

Personally, I'm very interested in seeing how products evolve from a mess into something compelling. Perhaps you would find this interesting as well? The thing is, the old builds were made exclusively for Linux for internal use. They weren't daily builds but rather specific releases with huge changelogs. There are only four of them, so it wouldn't be a problem to go through each one.

So, if you're interested, I'd be happy to publish them and hear your thoughts. Even if you think the game is terrible—which is a possibility, since it's a game without a good budget, any budget at all—that's fine. It should help me fix critical issues so that your opinion can be changed.

So, I'm looking forward to your responses.

potential fix for cs2 on wayland

17. September 2025 - 15:14

after installing steam from the fedora repo and installing native cs2, my game would always segfault right after the valve splash-screen. reinstalling the game, verifying files, setting sdl to use wayland, disabling the steam overlay ,nothing would fix it.

i then decided to install the steam flatpak from the flathub repo and it completely fixes all my problems. game runs ~ 160fps, steam overlay works perfectly fine, stretched res works and 0 crashes at all. no proton at all, still native

my specs for reference:

OS: Fedora Linux 42
DE: KDE Plasma 6.4.4
CPU: Intel(R) Xeon(R) E5-1650 v4 (12) @ 4.00 GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 12GB

PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 %command%, removes steam overlay. any fix ?

17. September 2025 - 13:38

Hi

So when I run a game on steam with this launch option PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 %command%

I cant use steam overlay in game.

That means if a game needs the overlay to invite friends or something, like in deep rock galactic (and other) the game/s just freezes.

Is there a way to get the overlay back while playing on "pure" wayland ?

or is it still to early for wayland ?

Borderlands 4 dlss and frame gen texture flickering issues

17. September 2025 - 11:21

Has anyone else encountered this? If so have you found a fix? This doesn't happen using other upscaling methods but then I can't use frame gen and the game runs like ass. I am using the latest drivers for rtx 4080 super and playing on kubuntu. I am using proton experiemental and haven't tried changing it yet as I read it can cause issued with the game.

Sorry for the found footage video. The issue doesn't show in a screen shot and obs was acting up.

Edit: It does happen on all the upscaling methods it is just less noticeable, but makes the game look like toned down tv static.

Question

17. September 2025 - 09:03

In a future where ARM becomes the dominant PC architecture, do you think Valve would still provide backward compatibility for older x86 games — even if Gabe Newell has stepped down, the Steam Deck didn’t really take off, but the Steam storefront itself is still running smoothly?

Uploaded videos to steam chat won't play

17. September 2025 - 07:51

After reinstalling Arch, I noticed steam chat will no longer plays uploaded videos. They just show up as blank gray rectangles. Other embedded content works as it should, like youtube videos for example. Also, I'm using the Steam package from the Arch repo, not the flatpak.

GuliKit ES controller pairs on Ubuntu 25.04 but no input (no /dev/input/js0)

17. September 2025 - 04:37

Hey everyone, I recently picked up the newly-released Gulikit ES controller. I was excited to try it out on my Ubuntu laptop when I ran into a major issue. Despite pairing and connecting to the controller over Bluetooth, no input is being detected (in either PC or Switch mode). I then noticed that "js0" is missing from /dev/input/ when connected via Bluetooth (but not USB). I’ve already upgraded the firmware to the latest version (3.1) and tried re-pairing multiple times, but the problem persists.

The controller works just fine when connected to the laptop via USB, or even with Bluetooth on my Android phone.

Has anyone faced a similar issue? Could you point me towards where the problem might be?

Much appreciated!

System: Ubuntu 25.04, kernel 6.14.0-29-generic.

Does anyone know how to change the default executable on Minigalaxy?

17. September 2025 - 03:09

I just installed Batman Arkham Asylum through Minigalaxy, but whenever I press play it pulls up the install program for PhysX instead of the games launcher. I combed through the preferences menu to see if I could change the default executable to the launcher but I cant find an option for it anywhere. Does anyone else know how to do this, or if its even possible to do?

Tone mapping and HDR - yeah I'm lost. [Hyprland]

17. September 2025 - 02:49

New OLED monitor arrived today (Philips Evnia 49" 240Hz QD-OLED) and I'm just trying to get the best image I can out of it!
I'm using a Gigabyte 7900XTX with DP1.4 cable right now, I tired enabling HDR through Hyprland but SDR content seemed washed out - I assume I will need to specify the SDR tone mapping/colour space through config to get the best picture possible out of it?
Should I be using Native/sRGB/DCI-P3 or Adobe RGB through the monitor as well? Gamma 2.2/2.4/other?
