Linux + Windows Sharing same game drive
I love Linux, mainly because it is not windows. But I also hate Linux, mainly because it is not as stable for gaming as windows is.
Due to this, I dual boot with separate drives. Sometimes, after a long day, I just want to game and not deal with various Linux issues I face, so I switched to Windows which I have de-bloated, de-microsfted as much as possible and it is a very smooth experience for gaming.
The question though from the title. My windows drive is not large enough to have all the games I regularly play installed. It really only has enough space for windows exclusive games (someone tell me to stop playing League....)I would really like it to have all the games I regularly play on Linux but don't have the space. Is it possible to have a 3rd drive as a Steam Library that both Linux and Windows can access?
If it matters, I currently run CachyOS but I am not married to that distro and can switch if need be.

non-steam games don't recognize input
I've had my controller not work with a few non steam games when I add them to steam and play them through proton. They let me use keyboard inputs, but the controller just doesn't work. I've tried different versions of proton (GE10, experimental, 9.0,8.0). and tried it with steam input enabled and disabled. I've tried some of these games on lutris, and I was able to get my controller working there. It's just weird that it's happening on steam and that it's not happening to every game. a few nfs games had controller support out of the box, and I've seen videos of people playing the games I try to play on steam deck fine without any issues.
The controller I'm using is an 8bitdo ultimate

Is there any ReWASD alternative on Linux?
I have a windows handheld and i use reWASD cus it has a specific function where i can make the xbox controllers be recognized as a PS controller, so i don't have to look at the ABXY pattern cus i rlly don't like them. Now i think on trying linux on my handheld, but the only reason i still didn't do it is because i don't find any remapper for linux that has this EXACT function

Ubuntu 24.04 - Trying to just use Linux Tablet as a streaming client from host. The CPU is taxed out on the table when it's streaming. It's stuttering basically with each peak you see in the bottom right of the screenshot below. I've been constantly...
This is also a wired connection from the tablet to the windows host. As I removed the bottleneck of potentially it being the wifi. But with each peak, every once in a while you will see the red "poor connection" meter come up.

Steam Deck RANDOMLY goes to 100% disk utilization for no reason
it hasn't happened lately but today its happens like 5 times. I have no facking idea why....and its doign it for the 6ths time NOW... Im playing WoWS and the game is a screen tearing glorified slide show from hell. It does it for like 20 seconds and then just stops. Of course everything is all laggy. I don't know what to do as im used to Windows. Normally I would just use Ctrl + Alt + Delete and click the tab that i dont remember anymore and tell me WITHIN SECONDS. But on Steam Deck im COMPLETELY lost. Oh also Linux has serious issuse with UI but thats more of a rant (my gadgets after every restart will be all scewed up and I have to put thm back and resize them)
Far as UI is that windows will glitch and bug out. firefox will have a bizarre black boarder or nott be able to resize. Other times is my game resolution is dropped to im guessing 800p on my connected monitor. I have the monitor primary. the tiny screen sucks when im at home. I got this monitor for next to nothing from a mexican family garage sale for $5 itsa new HP with the sticker still on it.
Anyway I think I prob explained my problem. The deck is great and all but having it for 3 years now in a few days. It angers me such problems STILL HAPPEN 3 YEARS LATER.
I don't know what the hell im downloading for updates when NOTHING has EVER fixed ANY issues. Thats my general overall fustration and that linux is not user friendly. I mean i have used windows since this year to around early 2000 where I made my Aol email and still have today.
Im just fustrated its not windows and how fking strange linux is

Help getting Smooth Patch working on the Sims 3
So i've been trying to get this mod running on linux, i DID find a reddit post here about it but the OP was using proton with Steam, which i'm currently not. I play the game through Lutris, and proton on Lutris does not work with 32bit games.

I made a psychological horror visual novel, got a Linux build (I hope), but we don’t have any Linux PC to test, could you take a look?
Hello everyone!
Me and 4 friends are developing a psychological horror visual novel. We’re launching at the end of October and have a free demo on Steam.
I recently made a Linux build for demo but don’t have a Linux machine to test it. Could you take a look and let me know if it runs? ^^
The story starts when your girlfriend, who died five years ago, sends a letter saying “I will give birth to your child,” leading to an inner psychological journey. The demo includes 60,000 words of narrative, 20 music tracks, 100 sound effects, 50 hand-drawn illustrations, and 8 endings, all made completely by hand (no AI).
If you are interested, you can check it out in our Steam page. I hope it runs properly, and I’d be grateful for any additional feedback you can share. For the Linux community, if there’s anything we might have overlooked, we’d be happy to implement it <3
Thank you so much!

Can't open steam or other apps please help
I cant open steam and it sucks cause I can't play offline games and I need that since I don't have internet all the time and I can't open Teams which I need for school.
I tried installing steam from official site, app store, flatpak nothing worked. I tried updating system using software updater and it said everything is up to date. I reinstalled Steam soo many times and yet I can't get it to open. I managed to play it a week ago but it stopped working randomly.

Cant jump or look up or down on Might & Magic VIII
Im playing MM8 Day of the Destroyer game on Linux Mint with Lutris. Is the GOG version and i tried the vanilla install and now the grayface mod, but this issue persists.
I also rebinded de controls to other keys different than the default, doesnt work either. Everything else works perfect.
I know the old Might and Magic games have issues in modern systems, but i thought the GOG version should have handled that by default.
Anyone knows what can i try with configs or something on Lutris to fix this issue?
Thanks!

Trying to get Halo Infinite down patch working
Okay, so i have downloaded a down patch of Halo Infinite, I can only get it to work on proton 8.0 downloaded from steam. Every other version I've tried downloaded from either steam or proton plus has the same outcome. It runs for 30 seconds max then it just stops, to clarify Steam says its running but nothing visibly happens and then steam just says its not running any more. It works on proton 8.0 however there is some stutter which i would like to fix. My friend who was also trying to get it to work got it to work originally on a proton-CachyOS and then got it to run through proton-GE-10-15, which when i try dose what i mentioned before. They mentioned downloading it from Proton Plus which is what i tried, i have the logs here for when I tried it on GE latest. (logs are 125,084 lines long, had to cut it for paste bin, if needed i can upload entirety elsewhere)
my stuffs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
GPU: RTX3060
RAM: 48GB
distro: Arch
friends stuff:
CPU: ???
GPU: AMD
distro: cachy

GOG backup installs take forever.
I did an install of Puppy Linux last night and couldn't get anything to work properly, so this morning I installed Mint Mate instead. It's a 2009 Dell desktop with 4GB of RAM I'm trying to setup for a friend to use casually.
Everything so far has downloaded and installed in a reasonable amount of time. (Using ethernet right now, as I don't have any USB Wi-Fi adaptors.) I downloaded the Linux backups of what GOG games I had that were compatible. It's old tech, so I'm not expecting much, but Beneath a Steel Sky is a 1994 game and only 100MB in the .sh file, yet it's taking forever to install. Wine installed much, much faster. I know HDDs are slow, but it's been 30 minutes and I'm sitting at maybe 20% for Beneath a Steel Sky.
Is this a common problem for anyone else?

Does Tears of the Kingdom run like ass for anybody else using Ryujinx on an Nvidia card?
Now I do have one theory(it's probably fact) as to why this is happening but I want to see if this is a general issue.
I'm using Ryujinx from CachyOS' repo(aka Ryujinx from the AUR precompiled) and Tears of the Kingdom in specific runs really badly on a Ryzen 7 2700x and an RTX 3060. I'm not sure if this is an nvidia problem or not as almost every other game runs perfectly fine without issue yet TotK in specific runs at 10 frames per second on average while barely utilizing my GPU and only using about 25% of my CPU which, to be fair, tracks because emulators only use how much CPU they need but, even then I was getting 45 FPS when I was still using my RX 590. I installed the Ultracam mod which did boost the main menu(aka a GPU bound space) to a locked 60 fps but it did not improve performance otherwise.
Is this a really bad case nvidia driver overhead? I know it's not great and I know I am already slightly cpu bound, but it shouldn't be this bad when every other game is fine sans the Oblivion Remaster. I also tried giving zram less space to work with to no avail(as it can in theory be an issue when something wants a lot of ram and zram tries compressing everything it can).
The only thing that really confuses me is that I've seen TotK running on worse CPUs on nvidia GPUs e.g i7 3770 and a GTX 1050, but that's on Windows.
Also, for reference, I dumped my own XCI(maybe that could be the problem? as in, any additional overhead caused by running an XCI over an NSP), and OpenGL straight up crashes while Vulkan gets into the open world. I'd also like to point out that I can emulate MGS4 at a solid 30 which is a very, very odd comparison to make but if my PC can do that, then TotK should be no issue.
Edit: I've found that this Citron appimage works just fine. Here is the VirusTotal detection if you (rightfully) don't trust it. Sudachi most likely works fine too, but doesn't have a linux port(it is on the AUR alongside Citron). I will be looking for a different fork myself though, because Citron's dev is a bit of a spoiled brat.

MorePowerTool + Adrenaline undervolting for 6900XT - Linux alternatives for a newbie?
Hey folks, I recently made a partial switch to Linux (CachyOS) and I like it so far.
Most games run just as well if not better than on Windows. I just have one small issue: My 6900XT Red Devil Ultimate is running hot.
I am constantly at the hotspot threshold of 110°C despite new thermal paste.
Under Windows, I was able to undervolt and underclock this beauty via MorePowerTool and the Adrenaline drivers. Though I must admit, I mostly copy-pasted values in MPT and fumbled around in Adrenaline until I got stable performance. (I can link the article I used if needed.)
Was able to achieve 80°C hotspot temps with fans at 45% max and roughly 2400Mhz frequency.
I have tried finding similar tools/tutorials for Linux but as of yet, I am at a loss. Maybe I overlooked something but is there an option for me to easily "replicate" what I did under Windows? GUI would be sweet but if it's properly documented, I could work with adjusting some values in a terminal.
Thanks a ton in advance!

What is state of 9070 XT drivers?
Hello.
Can some owners of 9070 XTs tell me how does using these cards feel after half a year after relase? Are there any stablility issues or any kind of finicky things that I should know before buying?

Friend has game working on newer proton but I can't
Me and a friend were working on getting a old version of halo infinite running on Linux, we got it working, i can only get it working on 8 downloaded from steam, I'm not 100% sure how they downloaded their version of proton, but it works for them on a newer version, but if i switch off 8, then it wont even load for me, any guesses why this would happen, and how to fix it?
