Steam Launch Options
I've noticed as I go through ProtonDB that there are tons of launch options in there, many of which that I don't use and have never needed to use.
With that on my mind I started to wonder what those do and tried looking for a source of Steam launch options for Linux users but I can't really find anything so I'm asking/hoping for someone to be able to provide me that source or just type some launch options that they personally use or know that can be really helpful.
I'd greatly appreciate it since I always like to get things running and feeling as good as possible!

Helldivers 2 Update.
Helldivers 2 full screen mode now works without using gamescope.
bug : when game launched with full screen it'll go to background and to manually click on it to work.
now it's fixed, but borderless full-screen still shows that 1px white line.
hope they fix it soon.

Gmod is not using dgpu on debian
I have latest version of nvidia driver installed in debian bookworm but garrry's mod is not using my dgpu and instead seems to be using my igpu. I am on a laptop and have envycontrol set to nvidia so why it is not using my dgpu? On proton games I don't have this issue since they use my dgpu

Gaming on QEMU/KVM worth it?
Is it worth buying a second GPU (I thought of the RX 550) to use for the Linux host, while using my main GPU for the virtual machine? I had a similar setup about 3 years ago, but I became more of a console enjoyer and I’m not up-to-date anymore. I heard that gaming on Linux has improved, so I’m not sure if it’s still worth it.
My specs are:
Ryzen 5 5600
NVIDIA 4060
32GB RAM
Edit: I don't intend to use it for multiplayer, I don't care about anti-cheat, I mainly use it for AAA single-player gaming.

Must-have Steam Deck games under £10 in the Steam Spring Sale 2025
What Linux should I install if I'm not an IT expert?
Couple years ago I installed Linux (I don't even remember which one I installed, I just found it asking google "best Linux for a low resource computer" and magically an old laptop that couldn't be used for anything became my laptop to see movies and series
I have another laptop, is like 6 years old and has an i5
I would like to use it for gaming, games like victoria 3, hoi4, ck3... No fancy graphics
Makes sense to do it using Linux? Performance will be better? And if so, which Linux should I install? I'm not expert in IT, but last time I managed to install Linux and some software in it using tutorials

The easiest way I've found to mod Bethesda games on Linux
This is something I've tried to do a few times over the past couple years, to varying degrees of success. SteamTinkerLaunch was previously the closest I'd gotten, which allows you to install Vortex or MO2 on any games Proton prefix, but I had tons of stability issues and could never actually get a large collection of mods to work properly. However, I recently stumbled upon this; https://github.com/rockerbacon/modorganizer2-linux-installer
This basically just installs MO2 into your chosen games prefix, then automatically launches into MO2 when launching the game via Steam. By default, the MO2 version is slightly outdated, but can easily be updated via MO2 itself (small icon at the bottom right of the main window). Once installed, what I personally did was manually download my mods, and install them with MO2's "Install a new mod from an archive" function. I haven't tried setting up MO2 to handle Nexus Mods links, mainly because having multiple modded games means having multiple installs of MO2 (one per prefix). I have a feeling this could cause confusion as to which "instance" would actually handle the download of a given mod.
Anywho, the results; I have a modlist I like to use for Fallout 4 totaling about 50 mods (I know, rookie numbers). The mods range from small UI and control tweaks to large scale model and texture overhauls. LOOT works perfectly (I remember hearing some people say this was a hurdle to overcome. I'm glad to report it works as expected, I've experienced zero load order weirdness). Once all was installed, everything worked like I would expect on Windows. I even picked up my old modded save from Windows 10 and carried on like nothing had changed.
I know plenty of people have had success with multiple methods of modding BGS games, but this is what was personally the easiest for me. I was technically up and running in minutes. I just wanted to make this post to spread awareness that this process can be made a lot easier than it seems at first glance, I know I struggled with it and even dual booted Windows for a time specifically to play Skyrim. Hopefully someone in a similar position can avoid doing so based on this info.

Switching GPU from Nvidia to AMD
Hello everyone,
I am planning to upgrade my current GTX 1060 GPU to an AMD 7600XT. Will a direct swap be sufficient for the new GPU to function properly, or should I anticipate any additional configuration steps? I am currently using Kubuntu.

HOLD UP!?!?!
FSR 3.0 is very blurry on all games.
Hello, ive been playing sons of the forest lately and I have noticed when setting everything on Ultra and using FSR3.0 everything is blurry like i don't have my glasses on. If I disable it the display is very clean but without AA trees and other objects look very grainy.
Any reason for this? Maybe missing drivers or wrong settings? Also using GE proton but tried experimental as well but no change. RX 6700xt for gpu and ryzen 7 5800x3d for cpu, arch with kde plasma 6.

Monster hunter on Linux
Overr a year ago I tried to switch over to Linux but was unable to get any game to run. (Both steam and gog games). I'm going to make another attempt and was heavily considering cinnamon, Pop, or Endeavor. Has anyone had any issues running monster hunter?

[SOLVED] Devil May Cry 5 | Videos Not Playing On Skills & Crashing On Linux (SteamDeck)
TL;DR: Use Proton-GE.
Wanted to post the solution to a problem I had trying to play on Linux so this would also apply to the Steam Deck.
The issue was that none of the skill videos worked and if I tried to get the Air Hike ability the game would completely freeze and I would have to forcefully terminate it.
After looking around to see if anyone else had a solution I finally tried using Proton-GE and it started working just fine and I could even see the skill videos as well.
I recommend using the protonup-qt package as it is a GUI so it's easier for anyone to use out of the box. From there you can just download the latest Proton-GE and once that's done you can go to your steam library right-click on the game and go to the compatibility tab. From there just switch the Proton version to Proton-GE.
Specifically I used GE-Proton9-26 as that's the latest so if any future version doesn't work for some reason you at least know that one does and can use the older version.
P.S. I hope this solution helps everyone but I'm sure there are still edge cases that could still cause issues.

Linux mint FSR
Hello!
I'm fairly new to Linux mint and have just built my first PC and didn't want to buy windows and support them (they kept asking for my location which was a bit annoying). Anyway, I am playing with my 9070 XT and have a 49 inch ultra wide which ends up pushing my system to it's limits since I'm basically playing at 4k. Since Linux is a lot more citomizable than windows, I was wondering, does Linux have anything I can download to make it have FSR support on everything like the steam deck? I really want to get higher FPS and my 9070 XT is just not keeping up at that resolution!
Thank you for the help in advance!

Monster hunter wilds discord streaming on amd gpu
Hi, I am running a setup of i5 12600kf, 7900xt and 32gb of ram, with fedora KDE. Playing wilds i get 120fps on high (fsr is set to only anti aliasing), but the moment I start streaming on discord, it drops to 70fps, but feels like 7, the game gets frozen half the time and it just gets unplayable even on medium. Is anyone familer with this issue?

NEED HELP! FALLOUT 4
So, I want to play Fallout 4 but I have many issues! I've tried everything but to no avail...
My first dilemma is the launch options. I see them styled in two ways:
export "command"
Or, "command" %command
And I have no idea what to choose in that case! As of now, my launcher won't even load, it just pops up for a millisecond and then crashes. I am currently using Arch Linux, Hyprland, with the latest version of steam from the AUR.
Proton-Experimental does not work, and no other version functions properly either. Now, when I can get the loading screen up, When I attempt to start the game, after the window scene a couple of things may happen:
1 - The game either freezes whilst I'm moving around the house in Sanctuary [Intro]
2 - The game gets stuck on the loading screen just after the little VGDS thingy.
I can not even get out of the house, because the representative hasn't even talked to me. After all, I am unable to get that far without encountering a random freeze or crash.
So far I have tried editing the launch options, changing my Proton version, and even editing quality. And now, the launcher just crashes. I am in need of help! Can someone at least aid me in one of these issues?

RADV allows AMDGPU to support emulated hardware ray tracing on Linux!
Some of you may already know this, because this has been a thing for 2+ years, but most people don't seem to know about it. Using AMDGPU with RADV on gpus as old as GCN 1.0, you can emulate RDNA 2's ray accelerators in software along with a full software RT implementation based on RDNA 2's RT pipeline. This allows GPUs like the RX 5700XT or Vega 64 to play games that strictly require hardware RT support, like Indiana Jones and The Great Circle at 60 fps at 1080p at medium settings, which is featured in this video. Although this feature technically supports GPUs as old as the R9 290X or the HD 7970 lol! Anyone tried this out?
