Logitech g502 mouse buttons not working.

25. April 2026 - 16:59

Title. CachyOS, fresh install, new to Linux.

I have a g502 hero and cannot seem to get the buttons to remap.

None of the buttons will remap, specifically I'm trying to get my dpi switch to change to a keyboard input (use it for discord mute toggle)

I've tried piper and solaar, both will change dpi speed, profiles, and LEDs. Neither will change button remapping.

I've tried troubleshooting through Google, reddit, and chat gpt/AI but cannot seem to find a fix.

Also I've tried going back to windows to the Ghub app and enabling/disabling onboard memory.

Does anyone know of a fix or what I'm possibly doing wrong?

Thanks in advance!

Steam launcher fails to download updates and crashes on Fedora (http error 0)

25. April 2026 - 16:54

Hi everyone, I'm running into a very strange issue. My Steam launcher fails to download updates and just closes immediately.

I’m using NextDNS on my router (both IPv4 and IPv6), so I initially thought it was a DNS blocking issue. To troubleshoot, I’ve already tried:

  • Disabling most security features in NextDNS.
  • Turning off IPv6 on my router.
  • Switching DNS providers to Cloudflare (1.1.1.1).
  • Disabling systemd-resolved after reading on the Arch Wiki that it might cause issues, but nothing changed.

I also checked issue #4378 on the steam-for-linux GitHub repository and tried the solutions mentioned there, but I'm still stuck. Looking at my logs, I see http error 0 when connecting to client-update.steamstatic.com and an OpenSSL error: unable to load trusted SSL root certificates.

I’m out of ideas. Does anyone have any insight on how to fix this?

I installed a game (soulframe), picked the destination folder and... It's empty. And I can't figure out where the hell the game installed.

25. April 2026 - 16:38

I downloaded and installed soulframe, it's not available on steam yet but I had a code for it, so I downloaded the installer.

I started the installer as a non steam game, went through installation, chose my directory and started playing. Then I realized the folder is empty. So I tried searching for it, I started a search for "soulframe" and all I could find was the folder I made for it, the installer and a few pictures I downloaded to use as banner and icon on steam. I can't find for the life of me the actual game files.

Any clue how I can locate this?

Game's been working much worse ever since I got linux mint

25. April 2026 - 16:37

Whenever I open a game, it's usually fine, but after about a minute suddenly the FPS starts dropping and the sound starts sounding weird and clunky. (example: initial FPS: 240 | drops down to like 150/160)

I have done the driver manager thingy, I've done most of the things I've seen online that you can do yet nothing works

Need help

Batman Arkham Knight crashes entire system on openSUSE Tumbleweed.

25. April 2026 - 15:14

I'm trying to play Batman: Arkham Knight on openSUSE Tumbleweed via Steam, but when I launch the game, my whole system freezes and I have to reboot.

OpenSUSE is fully updated, Proton 9.0-4 enabled(also tried experimental and 8.0-5), Steam Linux Runtime is valid.

The game starts launching, but then the PC completely freezes (no response, need to force reboot).

Game screen looks frozen after unfocusing game window

25. April 2026 - 15:13

I'm on ubuntu 26.04, but noticed this on the 25 version too. Sometimes after unfocusing the window (by pressing the super key, or alt tabbing, etc), I will come back to the game and the graphics will appear frozen. However, I still hear the audio. Also, if I press a super key again, I can see the graphics still working like normal, though in that zoomed out view.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions on how to resolve it?

How do I download Sims 4 onto Linux

25. April 2026 - 15:03

I have spent over 3 days trying to properly download Sims 4 on Linux, through Steam, through Lutri, and only Heroic Launcher worked.

The problem is that that The Sims 4 Installed through the EA App in Sims 4 doesn't sync with my steam account. Steam keeps trying to install it abd give me errors

And when I checked the files to add mods through it on the EA App, it showed to be completely empty of anything. It didnt even have any cache after playing.

Im still a beginner at Linux and the videos on YouTube aren't giving the full instructions, or when I follow them, something always goes wrong.

tf_linux64 not responding

25. April 2026 - 14:37

I've been using Linux for a while now and I've never had any issues launching any games on steam, except TF2. You'd think that a Valve game wouldn't have any issues running on Linux, but here we are.

When I boot tf2, I get this error and then of 2 things can happen: The error immediately disappears and the game works as normal or the error stays and I have to ctrl+alt+backspace. It's 50/50 what happens, It feels completely random.

I've tried searching online for solutions, but every post about tf_linux64 not responding gives different reasoning for why this is happening, they gives different solutions for fixing, but none of them work.

The only solution I found that kinda helps is changing proton versions. When I do that, the error doesn't show up and game boots like normal. The issue is that when I change proton versions, I can't join any server or even host a private one.

I made sure to prioritize a native Linux build for my new physics based party game, Scrumble!

25. April 2026 - 14:36

Hey everyone! As someone who spends a lot of time in the Linux ecosystem, I didn't want my game to just be another "it might work with Proton" title. I’ve officially released a native Linux export for my project, Scrumble, and I’d love to see how it performs on your setups.

It is a high energy multiplayer party game for up to 10 players. Everything is built around a Rigidbody system, so the slap mechanics and the way characters turn into ragdolls are completely physics driven and pretty chaotic.

What you can play right now:

Sumo: A battle to stay on the ice while the platform shrinks.

Hot Potato: Pass the ticking bomb to someone else before it’s too late.

Lava Rise: Vertical parkour while the floor literally turns into lava.

Color Match: Quick reaction testing where you have to find the right tile.

Fan Frenzy: Fighting against massive wind turbines that try to blow you away.

Technical bit: The game uses Steamworks for the lobby system and networking. Even with the native Linux build, you’ll need to add the game to your Steam library as a non Steam game to get the online features to initialize properly.

I’m really looking for feedback from the community to help refine the experience. If you have a chance to test it out on your distro, let me know how it feels!

Play it here: https://toprakpt1.itch.io/scrumble

Ubisoft connect games don't go past splash screen

25. April 2026 - 14:22

I am trying to play games I have on Ubisoft connect like AC Unity and FarCry 3 but everytime I launch them via Lutris or directly via the ubisoft connect launcher the game does not go past the splash screen and then go back to the UC launcher. I tried multiple versions of proton suggested on ProtonDB but nothing works.
My system is a DELL Inspiron 16 with Arch.
I know Ubisoft is a pain be it on windows or linux but I hope somebody may have a fix for this problem.

GTA Online on linux

25. April 2026 - 11:12

So, I know a lot of people are asking for this, but this is probably the only problem that keeps me from installing Linux on my main PC.

I read that I can bypass BattlEye, but if I want to play with my friends it's a problem... I also read that if I open GTA Online without the bypass, I will get banned in half a second...

If there is any new good news, I would be happy to hear it. Thanks!

(CachyOS) Resident Evil Requiem crashing when starting a new game, but can load existing saves.

25. April 2026 - 10:25

Hey there, I'm hoping for a bit of help. When I try to play RE9, I'm able to successfully load a save and play the game as normal, but the second I try to start a new save, my game completely freezes on me. I've tried just about every version of Proton, including the CachyOS specific one, and nothing seems to fix it. I've deleted shader cache and the compatdata files, but that didn't seem to help.

Thank you!

Specs:

OS: CachyOS Linux (Arch-based rolling release)
KERNAL: 7.0.1-1-cachyos
CPU: Intel i7-12700K 12-Core
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 12GB VRAM
DRIVER: NVIDIA 595.58.03
RAM: 32 GB 6000MHz CL36
