Star Wars Outlaws - huge frame rate dips when moving to newer areas - every time, almost like shader caching
I have watched videos of others playing Star Wars Outlaws, and they seem to have some frame time inconsistency, but I am going from solid 100 (no FG) to 15-30 for 5-15 seconds on reaching a new area or entering a world. It comes accross like shader caching because once it clears up it seems smooth. I am not sure why my shader cache is not persistent between launches. I have installed the Ubi client via steam with protonGE, running it then with either GE or experimental get the same long stutter patterns and is quite ruinous to the experience. I can't find others online displaying the same issues, nor did anyone especially mention this on protonDB. Any advice? If it is related to cache, any way to make it persistent? AMD 7000*, fedora

SA Mod Manager Not Working In Gaming Mode on Steam Deck
My gf is trying to get SA Mod Manager to work on her Steam Deck in gaming mode but it won't work in gaming mode specifically for some reason. It works in desktop mode fine but the game crashes instantly when ran from there. It wants her to download the .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0.21 but she has done it multiple times with multiple different exe's and versions in both desktop mode and gaming mode.

Any equivelant to Hwinfo64 plugin for Stream Deck to monitor hardware?
On Windows I'm able to use a Hwinfo64 plugin for my Stream Deck to monitor my RAM/Ryzen CPU (usage and temps)/Nvidia 3090 GPU (VRAM usage and temps).
On Linux however, the closest I've found which I can get to work for any Stream Deck server alternative, including Open Deck, is monitoring CPU and RAM usage.
Does anyone know of any working plugins on Linux which can go further and also monitor my CPU temps and my Nvidia GPU like I can on Windows?
Thank you.

FSR4 Environmental Variable on Lutris?
Thinking of installing Lutris so I can play Cyberpunk 2077 again. I've had success using the Proton FSR4 upgrade command on Steam games in launch options.
I was wondering how/if it works on games launched using Lutris without using Optiscaler? I had a little look on Google, but there doesn't seem to be much documentation.

Any possible way to play MineCraft bedrock on Linux without google play store? I do not want to go back to windows because windows is full of copilot? If my only way is to go back to windows I will.

I made a website for recommended games alternatives to games not supported to Linux (Free and open source)
Many popular games don't support Linux because of the anti-cheat software, so I decided to make a website that gives recommended alternatives that you can play on Linux.
All the games that I recommended on the website, I added based on good research and playing the games as well
The website name is Linux Games Alt, and it's completely free and open source on github so you can contribute with me to add more games or add more features to the website.

Confused about installing Proton versions from ProtonUp-Qt? - What's the difference between installing them for Steam or Lutris?
Hello guys. I'm a bit confused.
With ProtonUp-Qt you can select "Install for:", and you can choose between Steam (~/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d) and Lutris (~/.local/share/lutris/runners/wine). But there various weird things:
Some compatibility tools are not installable in one or another. For example, Proton CachyOS can't be installed on Lutris. Yet, if i install it for Steam, it shows up as an option on Lutris. That makes no sense...
Also, why is dxvk and vkd3d listed as compatibility tools in ProtonUp-Qt? They are not Proton versions, those are things you can install through Protontricks/Winetricks. I'm just really confused

KMS Recovery Mechanism Being Worked On For Linux Display Drivers
I want to know from people who praise AMD for Linux compatibility so much what they think about RDNA2+3 being excluded from FSR4 still. There is no FSR4 on Vulkan and also on windows no support in sight for the redstone suite, no ray regeneration, no...
From time to time a reminder is a must to wake up people and tell them that a corporation is not your friend. Gamers need to be able to criticize computer vendors if they want to improve their situation. AMD keeping FSR4 to RDNA4 exclusively is such a low move to say the least.
They gain absolutely nothing from that but annoy a lot of customers. How must an RX 7900 XTX buyer feel about this? These expensive GPUs are not that old. That kind of product marketing and long term support is a joke. If this is a new custom from AMD then i don't want to imagine what could happen to RX 9070 XT owners in future. Will FSR5 Pinkstone suite be exclusive to RDNA5 then?
Due to AMD'S own leak we know that FSR4 int8 is very possible on RDNA2+3. It is a shame that we AMD GPU owners have to revert to intel's XeSS AI based upscaler to have proper visual quality if available or need to use FSR hacks with variable outcome.
As for AMD being a Linux Gaming hero allegedly, in truth they shut down their Linux GPU driver like amdvlk some time ago. Valve writes Linux drivers for them among many other projects. Valve engineers are predominantly doing the hard MESA driver work for years to make games compatible on Linux. AMD doesn't seem to be that interested in Gaming and rather concentrates on CPUs where they can earn way more money. This is because a CPU die is way smaller than a GPU die and brings lower margins. Overall they just seem to copy new GPU features.
Meanwhile Nvidia offers DLSS 4.5 for their older GPU series. And intel? They promised to open source XeSS but ignore requests about this.
Let's calm down a bit and think.
However i am not sure if releasing FSR4 int8 for RDNA2+3 would change something now. On Linux this would probably benefit us in many ways like even applying it to games which don't support it natively. But on windows you probably have to do it manually for each game in the best case. But probably it won't work if the game doesn't support it natively. Also i don't believe that AMD would develop FSR4 for vulkan. As i mentioned before they don't even bother anymore to write an own GPU Linux driver. We are lacking lots of features still which AMD only offers per Adrenalin on windows. So much for being a premium supplier to Valve.

Can't detect games on second drive through my Mod Manager
Hello, I've been trying to get HedgeModManager (the mod manager for sonic games) working since I switched to Linux but haven't had much luck. I believe it's because I set up a symlink to play games off of my second SSD (listed as "4TB SATA" in the image) and HedgeModManager can't detect that. Seems that its a very easy app to use on Steam Deck so that's why I assume its the symlink. Any help would be appreciated. System info listed in the screenshot. Thank you

How useful is an old Nvidia GT 730 with Linux today?
Decommissioning under-used old workstations, and some have Nvidia GT 730 ("GK208B") passively-cooled single-slot graphics boards in them. These only have one legacy DVI and one HDMI outputs, though, not the four outputs you see on these cards sometimes for certain applications like video surveillance.
They run with nouveau driver, but I don't know what to expect with respect to utility. It's obviously pretty awful for gaming, but perhaps still somewhat useful? What about video encode/decode?

Capture card appears in OBS but then disappears after some time
I have some internal capture card i can't really find much on by DIGITNOW, it appears in OBS and captures my input for some short amount of time but then disappears entirely, I can't identify it with lsusb or lspci, I need to restart my computer for it to work (Shortly) again.
I know there's a solution with using usbreset while OBS is open to get it to register again that might work but yeah it looks like it stops registering as a USB device at the same time, where can I look for and how can I identify this device?
it looks like there's some kind of usb ID here but I couldnt see a match with lsusb

Certain games hard capped at 120fps with an AMD GPU
Hi,
Im just making this post hoping someone knows why certain games ive been playing are now hard capped at 120fps when switching to an AMD GPU.
These certain games are Hunt Showdown and Black Ops 3. Since moving to Linux ive used 3 GPUs, 4070S ---> RX7800XT ---> Currently a 9070XT From what i can recall when i had my 4070S I definitely had no hard cap on my FPS in these games prior. I can literally play every other game higher than this cap with no issues and its exclusively on these titles.
I use a Display Port cable for my GPU so its not a HDMI issue. Ive also changed Proton versions (Official and GE) My current distro is Nobara 43 so i cant change to x11 (if that was the problem to test) so i am on Wayland since x11 is unsupported. I also dont use MangoHud/Goverlay. Also regardless if i turn off vsync or uncap the fps it still wont go over this 120fps cap.
Its not like this a problem by any means is just odd that this specifically only happens in less than a handful of titles. Plus this is a new pc so id like the extra frames lol.
1440p 240hz Monitor
OS: Nobara Linux 43 (KDE Plasma Desktop Edition)
KERNEL: 6.18.7-200.nobara.fc43.x86_64
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
RAM: 32 GB

Can't Remove Steam Library Folders
I have a dual boot system because a lot of my games require Windows to run properly. My system has 3 SSD drives where game installs are stored, and I initially pointed Steam at them on both Windows and Linux so they could share storage. Now I'm trying to remove those library folders from Steam on the Linux side. I'd like to try running the native Linux versions of some games for better compatibility, plus I suspect running the game installs from NTFS drives on Linux may be causing some issues. If I try to install Linux versions with a Windows version detected, Steam removes the Windows version to install the Linux version. Obviously this breaks any mods I've installed.
One would think the solution would be to stop sharing library folders between Steam installations, but Linux Steam WON'T let me remove them. I tried to go into Preferences --> Storage, select the library folder and choose Remove Library from the 3-dot menu. A few seconds later it automatically adds it back. I've tried deleting libraryfolders.vdf from ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps but this doesn't seem to make any difference either. As soon as Steam is started it just adds the folders back again.
How do I get my two Steam installs to stop loving each other and get a damn divorce? Unlike my parents, they seem determined to spend a lifetime living together in the same install folders.

i want program help
Brothers, I have a problem with my Nobara Linux system. The system is reading and playing sound, but physically there's no sound. It's as if the system has lost its connection to the hardware, and all I hear is a popping sound from the speakers. I've tried installing drivers and rebooting, but nothing has worked, and I don't understand what the problem is. Why can't I hear the audio in the videos? My system version is Nobara KDE. I hope you can help me.
