So essentially i recently switched to Fedora silverblue , and im wondering if it possible to swop out dlss files and choose the present like in windows . As nvidia recently released their new transformer model and it would be very helpfull to me to use that.

I put it in windowed mode and reduced the resolution, I thought it was even clearer, I also switched from gnome to kde, and that was still with 8gb of ram (4gb for video and 4gb for the game), all success

Hi - Recent convert. I use fcitx5 to type in both English and Chinese (using Pinyin) and it works great in most applications. However, in World of Warcraft (loaded using Lutris and Wine), the input selector pops up, but the characters I select don't appear in the game.

There are some applications where fcitx doesn't work at all (Steam, notably), but in those cases, the keyboard won't switch and the input selector doesn't pop up, which is different behavior than WoW.

Oddly, it works fine in the battle.net application, which is loading using the exact same config.

Any suggestions for what to check out? I started with ibus but had way bigger problems with it, and it appears fcitx is now the more standard one.

Hi,

I would like to try Linux again after using Windows mostly for half a year due to Riot Vanguard requirements for LoL. I kind of want to stop playing that game, so I think that returning to Linux might be a good method.

What is the situation for the Nvidia driver currently, and which distro can I install the driver without much effort?

Major uses of my pc are gaming on Steam, office, Zotero, and R Studio.

The spec is Ryzen 5 7600/RTX 4060/32GB/1TB

PS: I have experience using Ubuntu and PopOS.

yesterday i have replaced windows with garuda dragonized. everytime i tried to run spider-man 2 remastered it says I don't have enough vram. I only have 2GB vram, so you might expect that but on windows this did not happen. On windows i played on medium settings just fine (although low fps). even on very low settings i still get the same error. I think the issue is that yes, I don't have enough vram but windows automatically uses dram when out of vram. i don't think proton is doing that. Any fixes?

I am going to switch distros soon and right now I am testing a few of them. I would like to be able to test games that are installed locally with the USB distros, but I am getting permission issues. Is there a way to temporarily log in as my regular username with the testing distro? Or is there some other easy way around this so I can just test a couple games without completely reinstalling them?

This is honestly something which I think Steam should enable by default, as lots of new users install Steam on their shiny brand new distro, then realize a lot of games dont run. For many out there, while it may be a simple search result on Google, I believe for many who are used to Windows its something that can ruin a first experience on Linux. Thats at least, from what I saw.

Many still claim they have issues with games not working, while all they legit need to do is toggle the Steam Play option in the settings.

Yesterday friends and I decided to play mc. I downloaded the modpack from CurseForge inside prismlauncher with matching version. However I couldn't start minecraft due to some issue. I googled repeatedly and painfully. The mc launcher is prismlauncher.

First comes to real-time priority.

The same problem here and how to solve In short, just install package realtime-privileges and add user to group realtime.

Second comes to weird unknown attribute.

Errors like this This was pretty confusing to me cuz I'm no expert to MC development. I think it has something to do with game settings, so I tried a few times. The solution seems a little nonsense to me. Turn on Native libraries and 'use system installation of GLFW' and 'use system installation of OpenAL' in settings -> Workarounds somehow solved it. I'm not sure if this is the right solution but it worked.

Others

My friends used PCL2 to start game. When I connect the game, some missing mods were reported. I asked my friend to send those jar files and I added them to instance.

Now the game successfully started with no other issues. I just write it down wishing if someone else encounters similiar problems without wasting too much time solving problems.

Decided to be nostalgic and play some Dawn of War 2. Got the special edition on steam which comes with Retribution. The original game works perfectly fine through Proton. The Retribution expansion for some reason has major texture glitches on the character models whenever I run Proton... but I cant play either game without it. Most Fixes I saw on Proton DB were for black screen and crash on startup neither of which I have.

Without proton looks like:

Title Screen, No Proton

Campaign Character, No Proton

but then the game crashes once the loading screen is done and I press any key.

With Proton:

Title Screen, Proton on, Texture Bug

Campaign Screen, Proton on, Texture bug, Goth Phase Tyranid

I did try "d3dx9 d3dx9_42 d3dcompiler_42 d3dcompiler_43 d3dcompiler_47 vcrun2005" and other variations in steam settings but nothing changed.

Hi everyone!

I’m trying to get Arch Linux with Hyprland running on my ROG Ally. Since the Ally doesn’t have a built-in keyboard or mouse, I decided to use AntimicroX to map the bindings I need to the built-in controller.

At first, it worked perfectly, but after a recent update, AntimicroX suddenly stopped launching. When I try to start it via the terminal, I get the following error:
"Selecting uinput as a default event generator.❌ERROR Received SIGSEGV (segmentation fault)"

I’ve already tried reinstalling AntimicroX, checking dependencies, and reviewing logs, but nothing seems to fix the issue.

Has anyone encountered this problem before or has any ideas on how to resolve it?

Or even maybe know another package that i can use to make binds and control mouse/keyboard with gamepad?

I’d really appreciate any help!
