I have Nobara Steam on HTC. I log into Monster Hunter Wild and it says there's too much memory, but when I check it, it's not true. What could be the solution?

Can't add drive on Steam.
I'm unable to add my SSD as a drive on steam. I know that I have full permissions on my SSD, so I don't know why this would be happening. I'm on Ubuntu 20.04, and I have the flatpak version of Steam installed, if that matters.

Steam Library path issue
I recently updated steam and now steam cannot find my steam library on my HD(using a separate hard-drive for my steam library) This problem seems to happen every once in a while where steam forgets where my library is and it cannot be restored(if i try to add my old library folder it does find the games). I would have to copy my existing library into the new library folder that steam creates. If I use the flatpak steam then it has no problem using my old library location. Can anyone explain how the steam library feature works for the packaged steam. I feel like this is a steam bug but I could be wrong.
using endeavor os.

Having trouble running 7 days to die smoothly
Hey all,
Totally new to Linux, and trying to get seven days to die running properly. I have a Alienware laptop x17 r1 with nvidia3080 16gb model, 64 gb ram, and i9-11980hk. The screen I have is unfortunately locked into 4K, and I have not been able to change that. I had a nice screen, but through some warranty Fuckery I got a downgraded replacement that is a generic PNP.
I was looking through post history here, and I saw one person it wasn’t configured properly in their Nvidia driver settings. Mine shows up as detecting seven days to die and looks like it’s using about 3 1/2 gigs, but there is much more available, and it is running like shit. Anyone have any idea ideas?
TIA!

Avowed crashing, but very oddly.
So I got Avowed on Steam and it loads and ran okay, but right after the intro, fatal error crash. Ok no biggie, reload and try again. This time I get to the tutorial area before my screen goes black and I'm actually logged out of Mint. And then, when I tried to log back in, it sat on a black screen and I had to force reboot. I did not have a system update that required a reboot.
Any idea what's going on here? I'd hate to tell the friend that bought it it's unplayable.

SteamOS 3.7.0 Preview brings the `beginning of support for non-Steam deck handhelds`
Valve have released SteamOS 3.7.0 Preview, which they noted has the beginnings of support for non-Steam Deck handhelds! So we're closing in on the previously announced Beta for more handhelds. Although this release is still just for Steam Deck.
Since it's a Preview version you need to have your Steam Deck update settings set to Preview in Settings > System > System Update Channel.

unable to use virtual cable to transmit sound from one output to another input
So I have a text-to-speech application called TTS Voice Wizard, and I want to transmit the sound of it to a video game so I need a virtual cable for that. All the virtual cables recommended by that program are Windows only and when I tried to make use of one of them using WINE, it didn't work
So anyways, I looked for virtual cable programs on Fedora linux and I got PulseAudio, which seems like it doesn't even detect the sound of that program? Even though I have set the audio output to PulseAudio Output (in that program) and in the game I set the audio input to PulseAudio Input, still nothing is heard.
Here is the github page of the program btw: https://github.com/VRCWizard/TTS-Voice-Wizard

How to get custom ReShade ini to work with vkbasalt?
How would I get a custom ReShade ini like this https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/68 to work with vkbasalt?
The vkbasalt readme https://github.com/DadSchoorse/vkBasalt/blob/master/README.md describes how to add Reshade fx shaders, but how do I change the configuration values like in the custom ini?

Older Linux gamers, what was it like before Proton, what was it like before DXVK, and what was it like before Steam for Linux was released?
I use Lutris with Wine and Steam with Proton. All my games work, most even with Wine's Wayland backend, very straightforward.
It took a lot to get to where we are today.
I was wondering:
- What was it like before Proton? I know Wine still existed, but how much did Proton change the landscape for you?
- What was it like before DXVK? Was WineD3D satisfactory?
- What was it like before 2013 when Steam for Linux was released?
- How was NVIDIA on Linux before 2015? How was AMD?
- If you've been here longer, what was it like in the early 2000s? What about CD games with GFWL and SecuROM?
My story:
I've been using Linux since 2016, always been on Arch Linux, first Antergos then Arch Linux.
But between 2016-2023, I dualbooted Windows 10. Where I did everything other than gaming on Linux, and did all my gaming on Windows.
In 2023, I completely stopped dual booting and moved to Linux fulltime. I have an NVIDIA RTX 3090 and an Intel Arc A750 (on different machines of course)
After NVIDIA implemented GBM support in 2021 and explicit sync in 2024, things have been great for me. My Intel Arc A750 also works pretty well, though that has its own problem with graphical artifacts, glitches, corruptions, etc.
So today, in 2025, other than games with kernel level anti-cheat, Linux gaming is great, maybe even better than Windows if all you play are older games like me. But I do wonder what it was like in the beginning.
