So people have gotten it working on Steam Deck and I got it running on my Steam Deck but it looks like it will not run on any desktop Linux. Has anyone got it working yet or know why it won't run on desktop? Is this another Dungeonborne situation?

I have a Asus TUF 15 inch laptop (2019) with Ryzen 5 3550h, 16Gb RAM, 2TB sata SSD, Gtx 1650 dedicated GPU. I had bought for gaming but now my priorities are document editing, presentations and mostly indie gaming. The laptop barely lasts 1-2 hours on battery even if Im using the iGPU with 50% brightness and both the fans jump to full speed just after booting in windows 11. Will switching to a lighter linux distro help (especially since I have a Nvidia GPU)?

I am trying to run Arctium Launcher, the latest version, on Linux. I get this error:

Unsupported Windows version!!!

These are the minimum supported Windows versions:

Windows 10: 19044 (21H2 - LTSC), 19045 (22H2)

Windows 11: 22621 (22H2), 22631 (23H2)

Note that older versions of Arctium work for me. This version is needed to support newer versions of the WoW Launcher.

I also tried to change:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion

CurrentBuild and CurrentBuildNumber to 19044

But same error. Anyone know how to resolve?

So recently I installed Spiderman web of shadows on my arch machine with lutris and it works just fine. Except that there is no audio whatsoever!

I'm using pipewire on my system. I'd really appreciate any help on this. Thanks!

I want to play modded Skyrim, Enderal, Fallout 4 and Fallout New Vegas, using Wabbajack or Vortex to install mod lists. I have read a guide on how to make Wabbajack/MO2 work on Linux but it seems like a bit of a hassle.

I also wonder how modding works with Morrowind, considering OpenMW runs natively on Linux.

I play pirated GTA 5 on PC for modding purposes (I already bought the game on console) but mods simply won’t load when using port proton on Linux (Ubuntu based distro), on windows they all load fine

Hello guys. I have an RTX 2060 with a Ryzen 5 2600. I am planning to upgrade it to an RX 7800Xt with a 5700x3d in the next couple of days, so this post will probably be outdated by then. I don't know if changing the GPU will change anything, though?

Either way, it seems like I can't turn on raytracing in my games?

In the GOG version of Cyberpunk 2077, running via Heroic Games Launcher, I can't turn on raytracing. Like I click on it and it doesn't turn on.

In the GOG version of the Witcher 3, running via Heroic Games Launcher, I also can't turn on raytracing. The option to do so is greyed out. I can't click on it. It is briefly turned on when I click on the RT Ultra preset in the graphics menu, but is instantly turned off the moment I close the window.

The question being, why? Why is this happening?

Hi,

I've recently switched to EndeavourOS I'm having trouble getting my Nintendo Switch Afterglow Wireless controller to work. The controller has worked in the past when I used NixOS and Linux Mint. And it works flawlessly on my laptop with Pop!_OS.

Here's what happends when I connect it to bluetooth.

• The main LEDs light up signifying it's connected. But the pairing leds don't turn off
• The controller does not show up in Steam or any other game, despite being connected in bluetooth.

There's also the fact that if I start steam in steam deck mode. It does connect via bluetooth and works. But only through the steam deck UI. Keep in mind this is a normal desktop pc and not a steam deck.

Hi, I've been trying to get Raceroom to run on Linux for a long time now, I tried Proton GE but it didn't work. Not even with normal Proton Could someone help me? I need it to run only then I am willing to uninstall windows from my dual boot setup

Hi I’m having problems with my g29, specially with force feedback randomly dropping out. I’ve tried running dmesg nothing abnormal showed up, however when I ran fftes it failed everything but one.

I’m unsure whether it’s a driver issue or I have a faulty wheel so I’m hoping to find someone who had the same problems.

The first thing I noticed was on start up it calibrates but doesn’t fully return to the centre, instead it stops a full turn to the left.

In game play the force feedback will randomly stop working normally after about 20 minutes but sometimes longer and sometimes it won’t work at all.

Occasionally the wheel will fully turn to the left and stay there this only happens in f1 23

And more recently I’ve noticed that sometimes the pedals aren’t detected.

The issues happen in every game I try and I’m unsure if it’s because I’m on Linux even though everyone has reported it being plug and play or if it’s the wheel.

Since I had a hard time finding this information, I want to signal boost it here (source seems to be their discord). Without this fix the game just crashes after a few minutes.

Background Info

Source 2 in Proton exceeds Linux's default virtual memory max limit of 65530 or about 512MB. We can confirm this if we run the command sudo sysctl vm.max_map_count or cat /proc/sys/vm/max_map_count and we should get a value of 65530. Our goal here is to increase your maximum virtual memory limit!

Solution

For this solution I used 1048576 or 8GB of virtual memory as it's the becoming the new default on many Linux Systems. To permanently change your virtual memory limit you must edit a system file that you will need escalated privileges for. We will be editing sysctl.conf but depending on your system's configuration you might need to change a different file.

Open the file via the editor of your choice with sudo. For example sudo nano /etc/sysctl.conf and add the line vm.max_map_count=1048576 to the bottom of the file and reboot your machine. If it doesn't work check if you have another configuration file that could be causing conflicts. As the higher the number the later it makes the change to your system. So sysctl.conf will run before 99-sysctl.conf.

Notes ​

We can temporarily achieve the same result with the following command:

sudo sysctl -w vm.max_map_count=1048576

PS: its very easy to get invites currently
