Devil May Cry 5 - running on Intel 8250 and UHD620 integrated graphics
Switched to Linux cold turkey a few weeks ago and been loving it!
Decided to switch due to how bad that 24H2 update was for games and Microsoft not even publicly acknowledging a timeline for a fix. Like WTF. Microsoft also considering Windows 12 to be potential subscription based and more in the cloud is also concerning. I could list out a bunch of reasons but I am just tired of them.
Anyways, I have used Linux before. I tried the Nobara distro in the summer of 2023. The experience was...not great on a Nvidia GPU. Games just kept crashing, applications were acting weird and stuttering, so I gave up and went back to Windows. Hell Left 4 Dead 2 was crashing and I thought Valve's games would be among the best games to play on Linux. But this time, I tried a few distros and landed on CachyOS.
Every single problem I ran into was not present here and every game I have tried has been running flawlessly. It's like I'm not even playing on Linux. It's been over two weeks now and I have had zero intentions of going back.
The only actual issues I have been running into is the Steam app itself, I cannot figure out how to fixing that damn scaling issue on 1440p and 4K monitors. I have tried everything on Google and even found some answers here, no luck. And the only other issue is those fan made PC ports like Ocarina of Time don't "just work" so I'll need to read some guides on how to get them to work. And the multi monitor support is kinda janky to me. But honestly, doesn't matter that much to me, what matters more is the games working and they all do.
Still getting used to how it all works but I am getting better. If you have any high level advice for someone new to Linux, feel free to share 🙂
edit: PC is RTX 4090 w/ 5800x3D. I have a 9800x3D that I plan on installing this weekend too.

Starting an exe-file directly without the Proton launcher
Hi everybody!
On my new system (latest Pop! OS), I skipped installing WINE just using Proton to run Windows programs and it's running fine.
However, it's quite annoying that every time I start a game or something else it doesn't just execute the file but first shows me the Proton Launcher to actually launch the program. Is there a reliable way to simply skip that step after the initial setup?
Thanks in advance, have a good day!

Indiana Jones And The Great Circle seems unplayable as of right now
Downloaded the advanced access version and tried running it both through Proton Experimental and Proton GE-20. After the startup sequence the game drops fps to about 15-17, regardless of my settings in-game. Didn't even bothered to start the game (though maybe I should have).
Anyone got the same problem or possibly knows how or when will it be fixed? Saw the related post here earlier today, as I get it the problem's with nvidia drivers.
Still, would love to fix this game, been waiting for it for a while.

What is the best distro/desktop enviroment for gaming on linux?
I've used arch to play video games before and I could run games very smoothly on KDE, but on I3-wm (ik its a window manager, not a DE), i got way less fps + window managers are not made for gaming, but rather for max productivity. Anyone got tips?

Quest 3s on linux wirelessly?
Steam link doesn’t seem to work for linux right now it seems and I’d like to avoid wired because I live in a small one bedroom apartment so the only place I can play without destroying the decor is the corner seat on our sectional. Has anyone gotten this to work?

Game streaming with headless Windows?
I've really been loving my transition to Linux and generally speaking have been able to play a majority of the things I want. I'm starting to hit a wall with multilayer games and their anti cheat stopping me.
I've been debating the pros and cons of turning my gaming rig (PC I currently use) into a headless Windows box with Parsec/moonlight/steam for access. Then getting a cheap PC to run my main Arch set up on and just streaming my games from the Windows PC to my Linux machine.
Is this reasonable? Am I missing some major cons that I am just not aware of? Is input lag etc going to be unplayable?
Just looking for some advice and see if anyone has an experience with this kind of set up!
Thanks!
