9060xt - which distro? Bazzite?
Hi all,
I have just finished building my new PC, including a 9060xt. I wanted to try Linux but have been told that some distros might not work with this GPU yet.
I am brand new to this and don't have a lot of time for the next month or so, so I would love to know if there's a beginner friendly distro that 'just works' (ish) for now.
I only really need Steam and a bit of basic web browsing right now. I don't particularly want to install Windows.
Bazzite look like an option - anyone running this with a 9060xt?
Or any other suggestions? Thanks+

Need For Speed Unbound - Lutris EA App Install
I'm using lutris wine-ge-8. I'm on arch linux KDE X11 linux kernal. I have the game installed can play story mode just fine but when i try to go online it lets me get to the find session freeroam tab then starts loading the session, ends with error DR1001 and DR1002 anytime i try to connect. I have played nfs Heat online with no problems what so ever but anytime i try to play unbound i just get stuck with this issue non stop. Logs dont show anything to do with connectivity to the servers or anything. I am confused why i am having this issue but others were able to get it to work according to ProtonDB. If anyone has any kind of insight please let me know what I could do to fix this issue. If you need any more information let me know below. Thanks

Some video from our upcoming horror platformer which will come to linux what kind of vibes do you get from this?
Latest vkd3d-proton (massively?) improves FSR4 speed/performance on RDNA3
Thoughts for the ultimate TV Gaming.
So, this is what I want. I have a PC atm with a RTX 4070. I know that Linux isnt optimal for nVidia. I love to play on a tv, but Windows is a mess for it. Im into AAA games and emulation, So my thoughts is • M.2: Bazzite: Clean Steam experience. • M.2 Windows (for anticheat games etc) • SSD: Batocera for emulation. Gba to Cemu.
Can I expect a flawless experience if I switch to radeon? TV LG C2, HDMI 2.1, 4k120hz VRR HDR.
What is your thoughts?

How does Gamescope actually support HDR if it doesn't support Wayland clients?
AFAIK gamescope uses XWayland to run X apps on Wayland, and it doesn't support running Wayland apps without the --expose-wayland flag. But doesn't X not support HDR? What exactly is Gamescope doing that makes it support HDR in X?

[gta v enhanced] i've bough gta v enhanced from epic games (was free once), i downloaded it but i can't play due to account linking
so i was having trouble getting epic games to work on linux then i found this tutorial that uses a patched proton version and i was able to get both epic games launcher and rockstar launcher to work
when i click launch on gta v from epic games, it starts rockstar then rockstar shows this popup telling me to link epic games account to rockstar account
the problem is that i'am stuck on this screen
i tried visiting both epic games and rockstar account settings but i coul'd find a way to link both
epic games shows no option to link rockstar and rockstar shows no option to link epic games
system info:
arch linux: 6.15.3-zen1-1-zen cpu: Intel core i5-11400H gpu: Nvidia RTX 2050 ram: 8GB Proton version: GE-Proton9-25-GTA (trust me i have tried so many wine/proton versions) wm: sway version 1.11my guess is that epic is unable to open urls?
i noticed this whenever epic or rockstar try to open urls (or wine/proton overall?)
this message appears when the account linking thing opens or when i manually click on my pfp -> account (in epic games), same thing for rockstar
i had the same issue when i tried other wine/proton versions, they can't open urls

DOOM: The Dark Ages is not running on my Ubuntu machine with an AMD Radeon 6700 card
I am using Mesa 25.1.1
I am on Ubuntu 24.0.4 i think
Here is what happens.
https://reddit.com/link/1lju8kh/video/5vkeosmgiz8f1/player
I press spacebar when it tells me to. The little pulsing glow effect stops when I press space, so the game is probably freezing. In my previous tests, it sits on that screen until I close it on steam.
I have been trying to fix this for 2 weeks now. Bethesda Support didn't help because "nO LiNuX sUpPoRt" and Steam won't let me refund it because of how much time I have spent trying to fix it. So here I am, screaming into the void of the internet to see if someone much better at Linux than I am can help me.
I am willing to change Linux distros to fix this.
I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE WASTED 70 DOLLARS PLEASE HELP

Steam going to "No Connection" mode after loading up a game? On proton experimental
Hi fellow Linux gamers,
I am currently on a intel 5070 NVIDIA machine running Ubuntu. I have been playing a ton of last of us and cyberpunk without a hitch for a few weeks. But recently, Ive been running into this issue where I click "Play" on a game and immediately my steam puts itself in "No Connection" mode though I am soundly connected to Wifi. I restart it and after a few tries, it runs smoothly for a time. I just am wondering if there's any way i can fix this. I hope it doesn't become harsher issue and put my gaming time at risk! Please let me know if any of y'all have suggestions on how to solve this! Wish y'all well and stay cool during this summer heat!

Reinstalled Linux Mint and now my dGPU (AMD RX 7600) runs like crap on games now.
My old Linux Mint install got borked when it asked me to do a Kernel update, something about xGCP (dont remember the name but it was something like that) not able to be ran and the boot drive having no space (complete bullshit btw)
I reinstalled and updated the Kernel, beyond what it was telling me originally, which was 6.8, to 6.11 to avoid issues and now the computer works and I've reinstated my timeshift.
Games used to run perfectly fine on native and proton. Now when I try to run the same games (using the launch option I was using previously to make steam use the dGPU 'DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME="AMD Radeon RX 7600" %command%') I get stuttering and lower fps.
Even on my modded OpenMW (Elder Scrolls Morrowind, which came out in 2002) install do I get graphical glitches and lower performance (on fairly tame shaders)
I used the same USB I used to originally install Mint. I don't see what could be possibly different now.

What I can do to improve gaming experience
Hi, What I can do to improve my gaming experience on Linux? The games are still laggy and in GTA 5 I get under 50 FPS in LS compared with Windows, where I used to got 60-65 FPS everywhere. Maybe the legacy NVIDIA GPU, which is not so good supported under the penguin operating system is here guilty and I should switch to Radeon GPU?
i5 4460 GTX 1050Ti (NVIDIA proprietary 535 + Mesa) 8 GB RAM LMDE (dualbooted with Windows 10) (My setup is outdated and pathetic, I know...)
I'm launching my games through Lutris and preinstalled WineGE 8.26

GTA V on Linux Mint (ASUS ZenBook 14)
I'm not a gaming person. Recently switched back to Linux (Mint). Heard how easy gaming on Linux is compared to couple years ago and decided to download GTA V.
No configuring emulators and stuff, just downloaded Steam, pressed play and ta-da!
Graphics set to medium, getting around 30-40 FPS. There are occasional crashes. My laptop is not a gaming laptop, cooling is not that good, thus when it gets hot it's game over.
I don't know how it is compared to Windows because I had never played GTA V before. This post is not a comparison, and I'm not knowledgeable enough to say whether its performance is good. Just wanted to share my experience and overall it's positive for me. I wasn't even expecting it to run, but it seems like thanks to Steam things work much better now.
Here are my specs:
OS: Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon
Kernel: 6.8.0-62-generic
Processor: 11th Gen Intel© Core™ i7-1165G7 @ 2.80GHz × 4
Memory: 15.3 GiB
Hard Drives: 541.4 GB
Graphics Card: Intel Corporation TigerLake-LP GT2 [Iris Xe Graphics]
Graphics Card: NVIDIA Corporation TU117M [GeForce MX450]
Display Server: X11

continued adaptive sync issues with latest kernel
for the original post, see here
i've tried a bunch of things. changed cables, changed kernel versions, switched driver versions, tried with and without gamescope, etc. nothing fixes it and i have absolutely no idea what could be causing it either. adaptive sync functionality is perfect when on windows 11 so clearly this isn't a hardware based issue.
kernel 6.15 actually made the issue far worse and eventually froze the entire system after letting it sit there and flicker like crazy for a few minutes. currently using the latest version of mesa. the only logs i found were these just before the crash happened. i'm at an absolute loss here

Xbox UWP on Linux
Y'all think Xbox will convince Microsoft to port the Xbox App to Linux with the new proposal on turning every device on a Xbox, and bring Xbox to all platforms?
