Never going back to shitdows
I've been on Linux Bazzite for 2 months now, specifically because I game a lot, and I look back and feel like I was in the Matrix when I used Windows. It's incredible that I never tried Linux before until I bought a Steam Deck and thought: have I been missing out on this for so long? goodbye Windows will not be missed.

Ubisoft Connect on Linux
I've read on Proton DB that many Ubisoft games run well on Linux but I cant even get the launcher to run!
I'm on CachyOS and have tried adding the launcher as a game in Lutris and that doesn't launch and I've tried the inbuilt Ubisoft section in Lutris and that claims to have installed the game after like 10 seconds even though its a 100GB download and then obviously hangs when I click play.
Any advice appreciated.

Problem with Steamdeck + Tailscale + Apollo and Moonlight
Hi,
I've been trying to stream games from my winos pc that runs Apollo, to my deck that runs Moonlight via Tailscale, and haven't been able to get this setup to work so far. I mostly stream via LAN. This setup via Tailscale is supposedly for when I am away from home.
So for the basic requirements:
- I have installed and logged in to Tailnet on both my pc and my steamdeck as both are shown on the Tailnet admin console. However, its not possible for Moonlight to add my pc using the tailnet IP. It just says not being able to find/add the PC (or something along those lines).
- Both devices are connected to my router via wifi (including the PC)
Now here are the things I have tried:
- Let devices connect to different wifi channels when testing the tailnet connection (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz)
- Ping: my pc can ping the deck's tailnet IP, but my deck can't ping the pc's tailnet IP. The deck can only ping the pc if I use tailnet ping <PC tailnet IP>
- Rules: I have tried to add TCP and UDP inbound rules to all the ports that Apollo uses. Still not working
- Firewall: I even tried to disable the firewall on my deck, but still, it didn't work.
So a couple of questions:
- I can still stream games over the internet using Steam directly. I know for sure Moonlight + Apollo is smooth and better quality over LAN, but is it still the case when streaming over the internet? The internet is fairly fast where I live. My home internet is 500 Mbps - 1Gbps, and when I am away, it's often 100-300 Mbps.
- Does Apollo + Moonlight just not work via Tailscale, or is there something else that I am missing? I have exhausted all the options suggested by ChatGPT, and you guys are my last hope.

cannot boot heavier games on Manjaro anymore...
Hey all!
still trying to tinker and figure out linux as a gaming OS.
been daily driving Manjaro with KDE Plasma for about a year and a half now, and I don't ever want to go back to windows....
that all being said, have a recent big problem that I'm scratching my head on.
whenever I boot a game (from either of my drives), steam says its starting, or running, but nothing happens... in fact, the entire desktop environment does one of 2 things:
1. the system refuses to open any new windows, and commands such as "shut down" or "restart" from the Application Launcher (start menu equivalent) do absolutely nothing. if I have anything open before attempting a game start, I can use the programs just fine, and typing "sudo -reboot" into Konsole gives me a system notification and sound saying it's preparing to shutdown, but nothing happens. computer requires hard reset with button.
2. the system does the first part of the first outcome, but quickly freezes and requires a hard reset.
I have tried different proton versions, reinstalling all versions of proton, reinstalling the games that cause it, switching kernal versions, running the "sudo cat /sys/kernel/debug/dri/1/amdgpu_gpu_recover" command, and a few other small things...
so far the 2 games that for sure cause it at RDR2, and Helldivers 2. a game that does NOT do this, is Peak.
I have a journalctl output of the events that are triggered by attempting to start the games, if anyone wants it.
specs are:
Kernal: 6.12.44-2-MANJARO
XWayland
KDE Plasma: 6.3.6
Ryzen 5950X
32GBs RAM
Radeon RX7900XT

Windows UEFI Secure Boot while dual booting Linux is NOT easy.
Hitting 300 FPS on PoE2 on Archlinux. Was maxing out around 230 on Windows on same machine.
Doesn't really matter in my case because the monitor is 240Hz refresh rate.
But still cool that nowadays we can get the most out of games on max graphics at higher performance than Windows.
Plus I am running the rest of my OS in ~2 GB of RAM.

Path of Exile 2 fps/gpu power limited?
Hey guys so I've been playing PoE2 but having some performance issues, and I noticed via LACT that strangely while my GPU usage shows 99%, it weirdly caps out at 75W draw? It's limit says it's 135, and I ran a benchmark via Furmark and it was able to draw 135 no problem.
Distro: CachyOS
GPU: AMD Radeon 6600XT
Not sure if any other info is needed there but man I've been trying to troubleshoot this for awhile and really cannot figure this out. Is this just normal somehow? I was under the impression that if it's running a game then the GPU should draw it's maximum amount of power.
This happens regardless of proton distro and I've tried checking power profile settings too like via powerprofilesctl and setting it to performance manually or adjusting the options in LACT but nothing seems to work.
