Overwatch 2 and CS2 run with high CPU usage and low FPS on Linux (Pop!_OS, 1050 Ti, Ryzen 5 1400)
Hello guys.
I recently decided to dual boot Windows and Linux (on different disks) because of the end of support for Windows 10. I kept my Windows installation mainly to play games that require kernel access for their anti-cheat systems. My specs are an AMD Ryzen 5 1400, 16 GB of 3000 MHz RAM, and an NVIDIA GeForce 1050 Ti. I’ve tried Bazzite, then Nobara, and now Pop!_OS, looking for a stable Linux distro that would let me play more demanding games like Overwatch 2 and CS2.
For some reason, those games use way more resources when compared to Windows, especially CPU, which stays at 80-90%, while GPU usage sits between 7-40%. On Windows, the CPU usage is around 30%. I’ve tried a bunch of things: running different Proton versions (including Proton Experimental and GE-Proton), testing multiple launch options from ProtonDB, but with no success. I verified that Vulkan detects my 1050 Ti, forced the NVIDIA ICD, installed the 32-bit Vulkan and NVIDIA libraries and enabled GameMode. This improved performance slightly, but the games are still not really playable, hovering around 30-40 FPS. On Windows, I get around 120–140 FPS. Does anyone have suggestions for what I might be missing? I’ve already tried reinstalling NVIDIA drivers and related packages. I’m also pretty new to Linux, it’s my first time trying to use it as my daily OS.
I'd really like to move to Linux, but the performance I'm getting in most games is making me want to go back to Windows completely.

How fucking dumb I'm I for wanting to wipe Arch and install Win to play BF6?
I'm considering wiping my nvme SSD for a fresh Windows install to play BF6. I always been a huge BF fan since BFBC2 and I have this urge to play it. I considered dual booting on another SSD but I'm super confuse about the steps to enable secure boot with Arch (according to the wiki, there's a chance it can even brick my GPU?!?). I've never been a fan of dual booting anyway. Surely I can't be the only one having this internal conflict?

Sudden Steam issue
Hello, I’ve been running native steam on Ubuntu with relatively no issues for quite some time now. Suddenly, I can’t run any of my games with browsers or really any apps open without the game freezing and crashing on open or crashing when I tab out if I get it to open. I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue or if anyone could help me figure it out/point me in the right direction?

Hogwarts Legacy statters, huge fps drops, unplayable
I just installed it from steam, pc with Rx 6600, Ryzen 5600 system with archlinux on it.
It's almost unplayable, takes a long time to even start and go to first menu(2 minutes or more). Then again about 2 minutes or more delay to load the game. All this time huge fps drops, most time is 0-4 fps. Then in game as soon as I move or turn the camera(without move) drops fps to 0-5 again, cpu/gpu load drops to 5-15%. Without moving fps is 120 or more and gpu load rises 50-70% and cpu about the same. Same behaviour and in cut scenes.
I tried proton/proton experimental/ proton-GE 10.18, which didn't make any difference. Also tried low/med/high presets and native/fsr2/fsr3/ frame generation on/off, but nothing helps. Only with fsr and fg I get higher fps generally, but only if no moving, otherwise same as above.
Also those parameters:
MANGOHUD=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 PROTON_USE_NTSYNC=1 VKD3D_CONFIG=no_upload_hvv %command% -dx12 -nosplash -nolauncher
but without them no change or even worse. Any help?

Civ 6 doesnt work on Epic games
Hey, I'm using Nobara Linux and I own Civilization VI on the Epic Games Store (I bought it before switching to Linux).
The game actually starts fine, but when I reach the screen where I have to click "Continue", nothing happens, it just doesn’t respond.
Here’s what I’ve already tried:
- Editing the resolution manually
- Switching to windowed mode
- Trying to skip the screen using some workaround commands (none of them worked)
I also tried launching Civ 6 through Steam and Lutris, but in both cases the game crashes instantly.
Almost every other Epic Games title works perfectly for me.
Thanks in advance for any help!

Working haptic feedback setup on Dualsense in The Last of us Part 2
To get the haptic feedback to work do the following things:
- Use GE Custom Proton (I use proton-ge 10.20): https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom
- Plug in your controller. This works only plugged in and NOT via Bluetooth
- Set the Audio-Compatibility-Output Mode to Traditional. Spatial will prevent haptics from working.
I did not need the Udev rules described in older docs: https://github.com/Mutcholoko/Haptic-Feedback-Linux But they did not prevent it from working. So if there are other games that need those, you can keep them in place.
My setup:
Arch linux
Kernel: 6.17.3-arch2-1

Steam launch options combinations
Heya.
Just a quick question, would this command run the way I think it will run?
PROTON_LOG=1 OBS_VKCAPTURE=1 mangohud gamemoderun %command%
I assume PROTON_LOG and OBS_VKCAPTURE just set the environment variables for the "current" session, and are not "modifiers" to mangohud, but manoghud and gamemoderun is a different story; does it matter whether mangohud or gamemoderun is called first? My intuition says it does, but I don't know how to verify which one is the correct one.

Fedora + Exegol: A Faster, Safer Alternative to Kali Linux
Looking to pick a Linux Distro to jump from Windows OS
My pc specs are Intel I5 9900F, Nvidia GTX 1660TI, 16 GB Ram and 1250 GB storage. I did try Bazzite but games ran poorly for some reason. I really got fed up with Windows trying to shove 1000 aps I never wanted.

Stella sora on Arch
I'm thinking on changing to Linux, but i'm still not sure
Recently I been watching a lot of videos talking about how my OS, Windows 11, is the biggest shit ever made. I found accusations of having bloatware and spyware, severe optimization issues, and, this one is from my experience, a ton of stuff that i never use.
I also been hearing that they want to implement some AI stuff on Windows 12 that will require new hardware, and i'm not in the mood to start planning new upgrades to my PC, specially since I find utterly unnecessary to have an AI on my OS.
So, I been thinking on changing to Linux, but i have some doubts regarding the OS and compatibility.
First of, what OS should i use? My strongest candidate right now is CachyOS, since it integrates a gaming configuration, but i'm not sure if there's a better option.
Secondly, and the most important, i want to know if there will be losses in my library. I know that Steam has Proton, that system that allows some Windows games to run on Linux, but the thing is i also have games on GOG and only a few are natively compatible with Linux. There's a solution to that, or i'm basically screwed?
Those are the specific things that i want to know, but i will also appreciate information regarding security or performance.

Poor gaming performance on Linux (Zorin OS)
So far performance has been poor on zorin os, with cs2 going from 100-120 fps on windows to 40-45 fps on zorin. I've checked for drivers, and even installed with the nvidia graphics driver option, and have no idea what to do further on

Cod "online" | native cod mobile pc port on linux support.
cod mobile pc port, "cod online". has anyone gotten the game to work or know how to on linux. farthest i have reached was the launcher installed and trying to hit play but the "ace" anti cheat fails to load. lemme know if anyone has any info on the matter. i cant play any cods from mw2019 and up through official means. i know donesk and various other projects exist for those titles but i rather not pirate a game i already own on steam. but with this game being free and somewhat enjoyable i would like to play without the need of windows if possible.
