Why is steam using 90% of my CPU??
Is that normal?? In windows that didn't happen. Plus the game runs like shit. Have I done something wrong?

how bad is nvidia really
First of all I apologize, I know that a post like this comes up every day on here. But I have a 7900 XTX and at 3440x1440 some of my games are starting to chug pretty badly. I'm playing cronos the new dawn atm with ray tracing off and in some areas i'm hitting 35-40 fps, which is unpleasant. But I already have the best card that AMD makes...
the 5090 is calling out to me like the green goblin mask but I don't want to lose vaapi for discord and hardware decoding in firefox and etc...
I know that atm nvidia cards have the performance hit with VKD3D but I also know that a fix has been identified for that and will be rolled out in the future, not to mention that 80 percent of a 5090 is still probably a lot better than 100 percent of a 7900 XTX.
So I guess my question is, at the end of the day, how much worse of an experience will I have using my linux computer with an nvidia card in it compared to the current amd one I have?
Thanks for your time.

How do I diagnose mysterious crashes related to a game I've been playing?
Hey guys, I'm a proud owner of an ARC B580. Unfortunately, I am an owner of a B580, and I had to deal with volatility for the game I want to play.
For context, I've been playing Elite Dangerous, and I've been running through the issue of the game just freezing up on me when I'm basically near a starport. I am using a git main from mesa right now as I was troubleshooting it. Nothing really seems to work and now I have to figure out how to use logs and stuff. Problem is I have no idea how to use em, and it's the one thing that might actually fix it, as it would allow the guys at mesa to analyze the stuff.

loading nvapi64.dll with amd card?
I want to turn off TAA in metro exodus using this mod. It needs to load d3d11.dll, d3dcompiler_46.dll and nvapi64.dll. Checking with cat /proc/$(pidof MetroExodus.exe)/maps | lessi can see that d3d11.dll and d3dcompiler_46.dll are loaded correctly (path leads to where game executable resides), but nvapi64.dll is missing.
i use these env variables
WINEDLLOVERRIDES=nvapi64,d3d11,d3dcompiler_46=n,b
PROTON_ENABLE_NVAPI=1
DXVK_ALLOW_OTHER_DRIVERS=1
DXVK_NVAPI_DRIVER=49729
is there any way to load nvapi64.dll on an amd card? i know this mod worked on my 3060ti.
alternatively i can turn off TAA in the game's user.cfg, but that breaks some lightning.
