Hi all,

I am running Fedora and have played through all of the main campaign for RE Village and the Rose DLC with no issues. I've been trying to play the Mercenaries mode and it will run but after 10 minutes or so and then the whole game will crash often hanging my system for a few minutes. I had no crashes playing the main game.

I have tried turning all the graphics settings down to the lowest they can go, even tho I played maxed for the main game and it didn't help.

I have been using GE-Proton 10.29 and this launch command

DXVK_HDR=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 %command% -dx12

I ran RE 7 with the same GE-Proton version and the following command (which didn't work for Village)

LD_PRELOAD=“” gamescope -W 2560 -w 2560 -H 1440 -h 1440 -r 240 --hdr-enabled --adaptive-sync -- %command%

The game seems to run fine without any launch commands and default proton but I couldn't turn HDR on and Ray Tracing looked weird and I wanted both of those to be enabled for the main game.

I care less about mercenaries looking less good and just want to be able to have some fun shooting doods.

My PC specs are:

Fedora 43 with KDE Plasma

9700X CPU

9070 Xt GPU

32 gb of RAM

Game is installed on a gen 4 nvme drive

Hi guys, i recently reinstalled debian, i have been using it for a couple of months now, its really good, but i have an issue with steam, it takes a lot of time to open, not that much to be honest, but a good minute or so, and the games also take a lot of time to open, for example, marvel rivals takes up to two minutes to launch the logging screen and another 2 to actually open the game, and i need to wait for shaders everytime, once im in the game the performance is good, i also play disco elysium, perdormance is good, but it alse takes like a minute to open.
The point is, are there any steps that im missing for this issue or is that normal?
I have an nvdia 3060, propietary drives 550.163 with open source header i believe.

if i install a game as a non-steam game formatted to a windows gaming file using linux and proton, could i still play my xbox game pass games and run xbox game pass with wine? I ask bc i hate windows but I like pc game pass.

Ive been trying to install steam via the .deb that they have on their website and ive been getting this. What do I do? Im new to linux

The mods may delete this but I need a new gamer sub. Something focused on actual gaming and not yet another group of lost newbies who can't read the room first or even the rules. Even on r/Linux but at least the mods shut that down pretty quick when they're on.

just found out about the Self Radio stuff on GTA V and been wanting to try it out, however I've been a bit stuck.

I have found what I think is the right folder (/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/271590/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Documents/Rockstar Games/GTA V/User Music) and put in more the 4 .MP3 files, but when I go in to the game I do ether a quick or full scan for the music on the main menu it will seem to do it for ever, like a lot more then a few minutes, and when I do it in game it will scan for a few seconds and stop, Both ways ending the Self Radio not showing up.

if anyone has any idea as to what could help please let me know

edit: forgot to say I am running GTA on steam using proton 9.0-4 if that helps

I had previously dual booted Windows 10 with Linux Mint. I was trialling Linux for about a year when I decided to just dump Windows and have my PC run Linux Mint. I use r2modman for my Valheim mods. Previously this worked out fine and the launch options in Steam allowed me to use -console to enable devcommands.

When I did a clean reinstall of Linux Mint I went through the same process I had gone through last year to reinstall everything. This time r2modman wanted me to put this launch code in Valheim:

WINEDLLOVERRIDES="winhttp,version=n,b" "/home/annabelle/.config/r2modmanPlus-local/Valheim/linux_wrapper.sh" %command%

Well having this launch code here makes it so I cannot access devcommands. Today I tried switching r2modmand to Proton (previously the option defaulted to having the programme pick). I also switched the launch option to -console and asked Steam to run via Proton. In my mind that should work. Now I am getting an error which is not surprising.

An unhandled error occured. Error invoking remote method 'node:fs:readFile': Error: ENOENT: no such file or directory, open '/home/me/steam/debian-installation/steamapps/compatdata/892970/pfx/user.reg.

So how do I get r2modman to run with Steam without having that launch code? I just want it running the way it was before I did the reinstall. And just to be clear I was playing all my games through Linux Mint.

how do i add a drive to steam because when i try to nothing happens

I play a lot of Identity V and until now you just ran the game installation from Lutris without any issue. Now it requires you to boot the game from their launcher called Loading Bay. I can install loading bay through Lutris but as soon as it starts it just turns black and asks to force quit. Is there anyway to get the launcher to work or am I cooked?

For context I'm using Goverlay, and it generated that launch option in the Optiscaler section.

While it's not a massive issue, it's just annoying that it's not fully exiting on Steams side.

The launch option works for actually launching gamemode + optiscaler and etc
