Adding older Proton versions
I've been wanting to start playing on Linux, and checking on proton DB the most used version of proton for games like Helldivers and Arc Raiders is Proton 10.0-3, while the latest is 10.0-4, I'm not sure if they have the same performance, but the older one seems to be more used. I've been trying to find the file for the older version to add manually but i only can find the source code, i also tried looking for it in the beta branch and from the proton installer on Nobara but nothing. Is there a way to add it or should i just play with the newer version?

OpenRazer 3.12 on Bazzite: Mouse Dock Pro (1532:00a4) showing as "Unsupported"
Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out to see if anyone else on Bazzite (Fedora Atomic) has managed to get the new Razer Mouse Dock Pro (1532:00a4) working with the recent OpenRazer 3.12 update.
My Setup: OS: Bazzite (stable) OpenRazer Version: 3.12.0-1.1 (confirmed via rpm -q openrazer-daemon) Hardware: Ryzen 5 9600X / RX 7800 XT Tools: Polychromatic / RazerGenie
The Issue: Despite having version 3.12 installed (which officially adds support for the Mouse Dock Pro), both Polychromatic and RazerGenie show the device as "Unsupported Device: 1532:00a4". Interestingly, my BlackShark V2 Pro (1532:0555) is also showing as unsupported, which suggests a broader issue with the daemon's device database or the Python library mapping on Bazzite.
What I've tried so far: Ran ujust update and ujust install-openrazer. Verified my user is in the plugdev group.
Manually loaded razeraccessory via modprobe (it loads, but doesn't seem to bind the device).
Restarted the daemon and the system multiple times. The device is visible in lsusb with the correct ID.
Is there a specific trick for Bazzite to refresh the device mapping after the 3.12 update? Or is the Python library possibly lagging behind the daemon version in the current Bazzite image?
Would love to hear if any other Mouse Dock Pro owners got it working!

Can't get Minecraft on full screen
I would like to say I can't get games in full screen beacose that would be way less embarrassasing, but I have no idea if that issue would be with any other game. When I try to put Minecraft in full screen the entire screen goes black for about 20 seconds than it is normal for like 2 seconds than it turns black for 20s again and that happened until I restart the PC (closing Minecraft or putting it out of full screen doesn't work)

Carpenter's Toxic Commando performance degradation
r9 7950x3d
5080 16gb
32gb ram
cachyOS, latest kernel with 590 nvidia drivers, latest 595 makes the game crash after a loading screen.
Everything runs smooth except after an hour or a few matches I have to restart the game, performance degradation is evident, from 150 to 30 fps with severe lag.
It's an unreal 5 game, did you manage to run this game decently? how? Thank you.

Cannot get XIIZEAL to run, some do. How to get support?
XIIZEAL is a small game. I cannot get it to run. It launches and crash. Messages on protondb are mixed : some people can run it?
ProtonDB | Game Details for XIIZEAL https://share.google/E4fZb6Nvbc0KLDwNc
I tried different proton versions (9,10,experimental) and Proton GE latest.
Not working.
I don't understand why some folks say it works for them.
If it's not supported, where/how to ask for technical support on the proton project?
Thank you for your help.

Looking for a Linux distro for gaming, video editing and streaming (already using Kubuntu for development)
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to fully move away from Windows and I’m looking for a Linux distro recommendation for a specific use case.
For context, I already have a setup that works well for development:
- Mac → my main machine for development and some design work
- Kubuntu → used for heavier development tasks when I need a Linux environment
So development is already covered.
What I’m looking for now is a separate Linux installation dedicated mainly to:
- Gaming (Steam / Proton)
- Video editing
- Image editing
- Streaming
- General multimedia work
Basically I want a system optimized for gaming + content creation, so I can completely stop using Windows.
Hardware-wise I’m using:
- RTX 3050
- DDR4 system
- Standard gaming desktop
I’m mainly interested in a distro that:
- Works well with NVIDIA GPUs
- Has good Proton / Steam compatibility
- Runs software like DaVinci Resolve, OBS, Blender, etc.
- Requires minimal maintenance
- Is stable for daily gaming and streaming
Right now I’m considering options like:
- Bazzite
- Nobara
- Pop!_OS
- Fedora
But I’d like to hear from people who actually use Linux for gaming + streaming + video editing.
Which distro would you recommend for this use case?
Thanks!

L4D2 Black Textures bug(?)
Hi everyone,
I'm new to Linux based gaming and I just have a small question and I'm asking if this is possible to be fixed
So basically, when I load into any l4d2 map, everything will be pitch black besides my character's arms, teammate names, outlines of weapons and items, and the hud.
Is there any way to fix this? I've tried -vulkan in launch options and that just causes the game to crash when launching it.
I'm using bazzite if that is a reason why this is happening? I'm sorry if it isn't and I'm just throwing accusations to it.
Thanks in advance! ^^

Low FPS not hitting hardware limit.
Hey guys, how are you?
I'm looking for help here. As you can see, the game's FPS fluctuates a lot, but it doesn't reach the 140 limit I have set in the game.
But I'm not limited by CPU or GPU usage, nor by temperature.
And although it achieves good FPS, the game doesn't feel smooth, but rather choppy and laggy.
This happens in several games.
I'm on Arch, with KDE Plasma. GPU: 9060 XT 16GB CPU: Ryzen 5 5500 RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200mhz
Latest mesa-git driver.
Any ideas what might be happening?

affordable and linux compatible Gyro controllers.
i really want to get my hands on a controller with gyro cappabilities, but being unsure about weather or not they will work on my machine is like torture.
I have searched about this, but didn't really encounter any up to date information.

MGS (Marinov Game System): Turn your Linux PC intro a gaming console with controller wake up and auto HDMI change
Hey everyone!
I've been setting up my Beelink mini PC running Fedora as a living-room console, and I finally got the full experience working: trun on controller → PC wakes from suspend → TV switches to the right HDMI input → Steam Big Picture launches automatically. When you exit Big Picture, everything reverts on its own.
The full setup involves:
- Configuring the Intel AX200's Bluetooth to allow kernel wakeup via udev
- A udev rule that detects the controller connecting and drops a trigger file
- A lightweight systemd watcher service that picks up the trigger and launches everything
- A main script that handles Wake-on-LAN to the TV, HDMI input switching via SSIP, display output switching and Steam Big Picture
I wrote a complete step-by-step guide with all the scripts and service files, published on GitLab:
https://gitlab.com/GMB8281/marinov-game-system
Tested on Fedora 43 + Beelink SER5 + Xbox Wireless Controller + Sony TV. Most of it should work on any systemd-based distro with minor adjustments.
Happy to answer questions!

Can SteamOS/Bazzite fully replace Windows for a console-style gaming PC (NVIDIA setup)?
I built a Mini-ITX PC that I use like a handheld/console setup connected to my TV. Right now it’s running Windows 11 with AtlasOS, but I’m looking for something lighter and more console-like with lower background resource usage.
I’m wondering if SteamOS (or a SteamOS-like distro) could realistically work as my main gaming OS.
I mostly play single-player games and some Ubisoft titles like Ghost Recon and The Division. I don’t play competitive shooters like COD, Valorant, Battlefield, etc., so anti-cheat limitations are not really a concern.
My setup:
• Ryzen 7 5700X • RTX 4070 Ti SuperHas anyone here been running a setup like this?
Can you recommend a distro that works well and is stable with NVIDIA GPUs?
Also, have you managed to fully replace Windows with SteamOS/Bazzite for gaming without needing to boot back into Windows for something?
Just for context: this PC is exclusively for gaming. I have a separate main PC and a MacBook for work, so this machine doesn’t need to run productivity software.
Any experiences or recommendations would be really appreciated.
