A lot of games stopped working on Wayland for me
When I was still using dwm on X11, most of the games just worked out of the box. Now with wayland on gnome, many of them stopped working. I either get black screens or they won't start at all. Even a lot of popular games such as Borderlands 2 or Left 4 Dead 2 come up with "Force to quit" messages once I start them. I just ended up with dual booting into my Windows 11 installation all the time. It sucks, but at least things work out of the box and I don't need to spend my time on finding tweaks.

Easy Effects mic not showing up in Dota 2
Hi, I’m using Easy Effects for my microphone processing. I’ve double-checked that it works fine in OBS and Discord, but when I launch Dota 2, the mic doesn’t appear in the list of available input devices.
Has anyone else run into this issue or know how to fix it?

Steam Client behave strange if enable GPU for webview
I'm having a strange Steam Client behaviour.
If run Steam Client from desktop launcher file, it seem it's working(showing logging in dialog and usual steam processes observed from ps), but steam client window don't show up.
If run from GNOME Terminal when steam client hasn't been running already, window shows up.
I found out unchecking "Enable GPU accelerated rendering in web views" fix the issue and window shows up even from desktop launcher file.
I installed Ubuntu 25.04 to this PC just yesterday. I haven't edited .profile or .bashrc. so I'm puzzling run from GNOME Terminal make any difference.

Low FPS in SAMP portProton
Installed SAMP Using a portproton video card Rtx 3060 mobile Before I turned off the FPS limit, the maximum was 52. After turning it off, it became 90. I think this is not a normal FPS for my video card.

Performance in games drops dramatically after relaunching/alt-tabbing (AMDGPU, Fedora)
Sometimes, after playing a game for a while and alt-tabbing and coming back to it, or, after playing a game for a while and relaunching it, the game loses almost all of its performance. From what I've seen, the issue is with the GPU, as it appears to have much smaller power draw (according to MangoHud). Worth noting, that such thing happens in all 3D games (War Thunder was just easy to show) and on KDE and Gnome, so it's not game or DE exclusive. The only way to fix the issue is to completely restart the computer.
SYS INFO:
* Fedora Linux 42 (KDE Plasma Desktop Edition)
* Kernel 6.16.7-200.fc42.x86_64
* KDE Plasma 6.4.4 on Wayland with VRR enabled
* AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
* AMD Radeon RX 6650 XT
* mesa 25.1.7
* 32 GB RAM
* 2 TB NVME SSD drive
And below, two screenshots, showing the game running normally and abnormally, with the issue present.
dramatically low performance and lower power draw

Nobara or Pop OS (for video editing,gaming and programming)
Recently I've had some performance drops on Windows 10. I'm also worried about the lack of support for Windows after October, and my experiences with Windows 11 haven't been the best, so I decided to either migrate to Linux or use a dual boot with windows. One of my friends recommended Pop OS or Nobara. I did my research, but I'm still in doubt between the two and need some help choosing.

Does the Nvidia DX12 bug (20-ish% performance loss) still exist within driver version 580?
I was on Arch for a really long time, but returned to Windows when Oblivion Remastered came out. It was very poorly optimized upon release and my RTX 4080 struggled to maintain a stable 60 FPS outdoors.
I read that driver version 580 was supposed to address this bug. Did it?

Palworld CachyOs problems
Does anyone know good Palworld settings to make the game playable on CachyOS?
I tried many Proton versions and all of them crashed in the menu.
Only with Proton 8 I was able to get into the game, but it was unplayable.
All my other games worked without problems.
Also, the reports on ProtonDB are outdated, and I think since the latest Palworld updates it doesn’t work for most people anymore.

Cannot install cjkfonts through winetricks
I tried to install cjkfonts using `winetricks cjkfonts` however when I go to `drive_c/windows/Fonts` cjkfonts are not there. Instead they are in `dosdevices/z:/usr/share/fonts/opentype/noto`. This make the game that I want to play cannot access those fonts.
However, when I `wine notepad`, notepad can render chinese characters correctly

Linux Gaming Laptops: Where to start? What things to look out for? ($2500 US budget)
Hi all! I’m very new to Linux, my network engineer brother recently gifted me an older Think Pad with pop_os, as well has been continually educating me more on topics of online security/privacy etc… I’ve learned a fair bit in a small time, but still very much feel like a novice.
I’m looking to get into pc gaming for the first time, but I’m definitely wanting to steer clear of Windows 11. I don’t really play competitive multiplayer games requiring anti-cheat, so I don’t think I would miss much by being a full Linux convert.
As a console player my whole life, pc gaming always intimidated me, but now I’m both wanting/willing to put the time in and take the plunge. I’m happy to put the time in and research, but can anyone help give me some ideas on where to start? I’m looking for as powerful of a laptop a budget of $2500 US can get me that pairs really well with Linux?
I’ve also been doing a lot of research on which distros fair well with gaming, but I am also happy to receive any advice on that front that people are willing to depart with! Thank you all for your time!

Windows 10 EOL
I love Linux. I have it on my (personal) work laptop and a couple others. However, I plan on installing a de-bloated version of Windows 11 on my main desktop computer once the Windows 10 EOL comes to fruition. WINE doesn't support everything, but I need it to. Is this a fair decision to make? Am I now a "fake" or a "poser"? (Not a genuine concern). I'm certain those on Arch are going to say so. Also, my desktop does not have the specs good enough to run Windows in a VM even with GPU passthrough because my CPU is already a bottleneck my GPU, so taking away some of my compute to host a VM is not going to be acceptable for VM videogame perfomance.
