Reddit Linux_Gaming - 11. Februar 2026 - 16:44

If you’ve already managed to get Assassin’s Creed Odyssey running on Linux (especially Arch + NVIDIA), can you share your exact working setup?

Which Wine/Proton version are you using? Any specific tweaks or launch settings required?

Mine launches but nothing shows up. Looking for a confirmed working configuration.

System:

  • Arch Linux (Omarchy-based)
  • NVIDIA RTX 3050 Mobile (Driver 580.126.09)
  • Hybrid GPU (Intel + NVIDIA PRIME)
  • Vulkan working (nvidia-smi and vulkaninfo detect RTX correctly)

Mint online gaming

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 11. Februar 2026 - 14:05

Hi everybody!

I have recently switched to linux mint (xfce) on my laptop and I wanted to play some games with my long distance gf, which used a mac pc.

I have tried parsec to run some local games together but the compatibility is terrible, so I have ditched the idea.

I have heard some good things about proton+steam, but I also heard that it doesn't really work for online games, so I feel kinda stuck.

We do not really even need really fancy games, like any platform or puzzle game would probably work, so I am open to any suggestion.

Thanks everybody in advance for the help, and I apologize if it seems like a dumb question.

no-bloat gaming distro?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 11. Februar 2026 - 13:38

Hello, i would like recommendations for gaming distros that doesn't have too much bloatware. And has a good balance between developing work and daily use. I was using arch but I'm tired of fixing the system all weekend after a pacman -Syu.

Any recommendations are appreciated!

Are we entering an era where anyone can build a game?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 11. Februar 2026 - 13:16

Not long ago, making a video game required serious technical expertise. Now we’re seeing tools designed specifically for accessibility platforms where you just describe your idea and AI handles the heavy lifting. OneTap build is one example positioning itself around that simplicity: no coding, no engine setup, just prompt → playable world.

If this trend continues, the definition of “game creator” might expand dramatically.

But I’m curious does easier creation lead to more innovation…

or just more noise?

Would love to hear how others see this evolving.

Problems with steamvr

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 11. Februar 2026 - 13:02

So, supposedly steamvr now works natively with Linux thanks to the steamvr beta, at least in theory it does, because I tried every possible workaround and it doesn't work. Some research has suggested me to use the freeworld drivers, whatever that means. So I try to install them with rpm fusion, which I think was already enabled, but I run the commands again just to be sure, and when I need to actually install the drivers with an ostree command, it tells me that the system wasn't booted through libostree, so they are not supported.

Does anyone have some sort of definitive fix for this? Using Fedora 43 KDE
