Is this the correct directory for Proton AC4 Black Flag's saves?
Just want to confirm as older post and even chatgpt points to Ubisoft Game Launcher on AppData which is /home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/242050/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Ubisoft Game Launcher
I found the whole Ubisoft Launcher contents including the savegames folder on /home/user/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/242050/pfx/drive_c/Program Files (x86)/Ubisoft/Ubisoft Game Launcher or simply put, it was inside of Program Files (x86) folder.
I hope many can confirm as I need to delete the game and I cannot test the if removing the savegames folder does affect the saves as Ubisoft Connect is acting up again, can't login even with VPN enabled. I am also low on storage so I really need to delete the game.

New to pc and Linux; I’ve got a possibly dumb question.
Hi! So I’m very new to pc and my friend helped me install Linux mint cinnamon.
But I have a question!
I have a laptop that I bought two games on, Minecraft and stardew valley. I did not buy these through steam, rather I just used the AppStore on my laptop. Would I be able to transfer these games from my laptop to my pc? From researching it looks like I need a hard drive. Could I use the same one I used to install Linux?
Is it even possible for me to Transfer the games not bought from steam to my pc that’s got Linux?
I’m sorry if this seems like a dumb and easily answerable question but I really need help.
Thanks in advance!

Why won't Bloodborne Work?
I'd like to play Bloodborne. I'm on Arch Linux. I have an Intel i5 and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER graphics card.
I downloaded BB Launcher from Nexus mods:
https://www.nexusmods.com/bloodborne/mods/194?tab=description
I got the game to run, but once I get past the character creation screen, the screen goes black and it freezes. I have to force stop the game.
Any idea why? Thank you for your time and support!

Doom Dark Ages crashes with DLSS
Has anyone managed to play for any significant period of time with DLSS enabled? I've tried on both Ubuntu 24 and Fedora 43 and both of them crash after 10-15 minutes of play with a bugsplat error.
The higher I have DLSS the faster it crashes but it doesn't seem like it's possible to play unless I disable it completely.

Wine will now automatically overrides native DLLs using smart heuristics, making out-of-the-box compatibility even better
From this commit by lead Wine developer Alexandre Julliard:
ntdll: Add heuristics to prefer native dll based on the version resource. For now checking that CompanyName isn't 'Microsoft'.
How it works: The update adds a heuristic to ntdll that triggers when Wine is deciding whether to use a "builtin" (Wine-provided) or "native" (application/microsoft-provided) DLL.
If the CompanyName is not "Microsoft," Wine assumes the DLL is a custom library provided by the application developer (like a game engine component or a specific middleware) and will now automatically prefer it over the internal Wine version.
This eliminates the need for manual WINEDLLOVERRIDES for many games and apps that ship with their own modified versions of DLLs (commonly used with ASI Loader and BepInExPack). It’s a huge win for getting modded games to work out-of-the-box.

DSVP-deck: A video player purpose-built for the Steam Deck
Rebuilding a classic mid-2000s CS 1.6 Zombie Mod server (nostalgia project)
I've been working on a small nostalgia project and decided to rebuild one of my old favorite CS 1.6 Zombie Mod servers from the mid-2000s — the kind many of us grew up on.
This isn’t the modern type of zombie server with classes, props or RPG-style systems.
I wanted to recreate the panic-style gameplay a lot of us remember from 2006–2009:
•Classic bunnyhop movement — zombies show real skill by chaining jumps, air control and timing to break into survivor camps
•Parachute + air acceleration — experienced zombies can glide, angle and redirect mid-air to reach survivor spots newer players can’t
•Classic knockback behavior — rifles give light push, shotguns deliver strong knockback just like the old servers
•Humans never run out of reserve ammo, but you still have to reload (no endless spray)
•Clean 1–3 weapon menu
•No added soundpacks, no extra visuals, no modern effects — just the oldschool aesthetic with the original Biohazard feel
It’s been a fun “digital archaeology” project — fixing HLDS quirks, compiling old AMXX modules, updating configs, and tuning movement + knockback to feel exactly like the 2006–2009 ZM era.
If anyone played classic zombie servers back then, this might bring back memories.
I'm not sure if posting server details is allowed, so feel free to DM me if you want more info.

KDE Plasma 6.6 Showing Frequent Performance Advantage Over GNOME 50 With NVIDIA R595 Driver
GPU Screen Recorder is making my games crash.
Is anyone else having this issue or it just me? When I load up certain games like no man's sky or helldivers 2 for example, it either runs for 5 minutes then crashes, or it crashes the moment I turn on instant replay.
I'm using the overlay mode as well by the way not the default mode.

Can't enable HDR in games despite having HDR on in display settings (CachyOS)
My monitor has HDR10, but for some reason, Tetris Effect Connected doesn't seem to detect it at all, even when I have HDR enabled in the KDE display settings.

Question about scheduling
I recently switched to a vanilla Arch install over Cachy os as i just prefer to have it as minimal as possible, but installed CachyOS kernel and its repositories. Something i notice is that setting "game-performance" does not work now, games wont launch with it. Do i need to do something else? Different command now? Figured using Cachys kernel ect would bring the same functions. I see a command called gamemoderun, does this do the same thing? I'm seeing that game-performance uses power-profiles-daemon but this isn't even maintained anymore? I just want the solution to my gaming to ensure CPU and everything is the same as before on Official Cachy. Or does this even matter?

Resident Evil Requiem having problems
I have a pop_os install that I play most of my games on. It usually works great, but RE9 seems to have some issues. The game always crashes on the title screen with any proton version other than 9.0-4. I'm told the likely culprit is the fact that pop_os is still not officially on the Nvidia 590+ branch of drivers due to System 76 having to rework it a bit before moving to it officially. That's fine for playing the vanilla game, but I'd also like to try out some of the mods I've seen, which don't seem to work with proton 9.0-4. Is there a way I can update pop_os to a newer Nvidia driver that would work with these, or how long would I have to wait for the distro to officially move to 590+?

I LOVE NVIDIA :DDDD
Their drivers for hybrid laptops are SO incredibly good, I definitely didn't buy this laptop because it worked really good with dynamic power management a few years ago and new drivers and updates didn't completely break everything :))))))))). This link is propaganda don't believe any of what it says
I can't WAIT to have 3 FPS with DLSS 5 making every frame of my favorite games look like sora slop.
Don't do NVIDIA kids
