Recently switched to Opensuse + KDE on my i3 12100f, 16 gb ram and arc a770 build, and have for the most part been pretty happy. The only real problem is performance, which is a big one for me since i play a lot of games. Arma reforger, squad and many other games are running really terribly for me. Helldivers 2 and insurgency sandstorm were the only games i could get to run with the same performance as windows.

Im wondering - Is there anything i can do to improve performance? And is there any future for the alchemist cards on linux? If not, i will sadly have to go back to windows, even tho i hate it.

Fallout: New Vegas (GOG) won’t launch in Heroic Launcher

• First tried pirated version:
  • Installed via Heroic, played for ~1 hour.
  • On restart, game tried to reinstall itself instead of launching.
  • Manually set FalloutNV.exe as executable – didn’t help.
• Bought GOG version – same issue:
  • Game "starts," then Heroic button reverts to "Play" (no error).
  • Tried:
    • Proton (latest)
    • Wine (latest)
    • Steam/Proton launchers – no luck.

I dual booted windows and added Bazzite 42 in another partition. Playing Dota2 on windows, I have a stable high fps, but in this OS I am only limited to 60 - 70 fps even after I maxed out the fps limit in dota2 settings and console. Any suggestion on how to fix?

im having an issue in games where i get frequent lagspikes. The game just completely freezes for half a second or so around every 20 seconds, timing seems to be pretty random. The issue has persisted over month or two and multiple updates.

it's happened in team fortress 2 (linux native game) and yakuza games ( newest pirate yakuza and yakuza 0 ). However GTA 5 enhanced didn't have such an issue, played it on bottles with rockstar launcher.

genshin won't run right now, and for so many tries of changing the wine (and modified wine) version it won't run on my system, but yesterday it runs well, i have no idea what's causing it. whenever i launch the game it just returns back to hoyoplay launcher. i don't have any wine crashes so far, or doesn't have anything to screenshot. what i can only describe was it quitting immediately after a few moments, without showing a blink that it's running.

i have linux-zen installed and i'm running on arch linux.

idk if that's the right flair, but anyways.

We can now run Games that support HDR, We have a browser that supports HDR and we have a Video player that supports HDR.

After a recent update the HoYoPlay launcher crashes shortly after it has started up.
With the default Wine used in lutris the launcher boots up and shorty after there is an error in the logs.
DXVAVDA fatal error: could not LoadLibrary: msvproc.dll: Module not found.

A few seconds after that the launcher closes with exit code 0.

With all proton versions the launcher either never opens and exists immediately with exit code 0 or the launcher opens but stays black (Proton-GE-27)

Do you encounter similar issues ?
And maybe someone has a fix?

What i tried:

I tried to reinstall the game and installing some media foundation related stuff manually but it did not work.
Installing an old launcher does not work because the update is enforced.
I also tried a third party launcher but my libc version seems to be to low, Pop OS 22.04 libc is on version 2.35 currently.

The computer used to run fine before, but recently all games started running at very low FPS, and CPU usage is always at 100%. I switched back to Windows to test the same games and the performance was good there, i mean by bad peforemance that the game is runing bettwen 1 to 15 fps while in wondows run above 60 i tried diffrent driver and still the same i tried the property driver and the open source one no diff

I have already posted this. Now I have upgraded the system to 24.10. but the specs are the same. I have just upgraded the kernel to 6.11 and the Nvidia driver to 560. The game still crashes immediately and I get the same error. I have tried running the game on Wayland and it lunches but I get a black screen.

Note: the issue could still be the Nvidia driver, and I don't have any way of knowing that until I don't upgrade to 25.04 and I install the 570 driver. But the fact that works on Wayland makes me suspicious

Hello Reddit! When i try to put shaders on Steampunk [LPS] i got weird graphical issues with create mod. /flywheel backend off Solves the issue but it reduced my fps. I want to know if there is something else that i can try. I run minecraft with the graphic card (Nvidia driver version: 550.120 on xubuntu minimal).

i use proton ge 9.27 and yet i get no more then 20 fps in 1080p.
i use arch linux with hyprland wayland wm but i also tried it with x11 but it's the same...

Hi, I upgraded yesterday. It's being working fantastically for me. But I'm curious to know if the sense that I have of the micro-stuttering being decimated, in the games I tested so far, is just the "honeymoon effect" or, other people are experiencing it as well.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, the disk IO seems faster to me as well. The games are loading "PS5's fast". Storage configuration added.

I was having issues with a game i played .. did i litle upgrade .. still old but it runs perfectly !!!

Iv managed to get HDR working and the game launching fine. What bothers me is that frame time feels off. Not as smooth as expected despite reporting 100-130fps. Anything else needed in launch options aside from my --hdr-enable ? Tried protonCachyos and GEproton so far. 7900xt/7800x3d build, Cachy os latest.

I've been trying to play Titanfall 2 and the EA friends list cannot load and shows up as a blank window, I have tried both Proton 9 through 7 and GE-Proton9-27 through 9-24. I have also tried Hotfix and Experiential with no Success. Furthermore, I am using the Arch packaged version of Steam and have also tried 2 resources to help, which were:
