Best Fps limiter

28 Apr 2026 - 7:22am

I was wondering what everyone uses as an FPS limiter. Frame times should be the priority. I tried MangoHud, but that gave me weird stutter in Diablo 4, so now I use the in-game limiter. So from my understanding, the 3 ways are MangoHud, Gamescope, or in-game. So what do you prefer? I have an NVIDIA RTX 5080 if that makes a difference.

Easy anti cheat, specific game on arch.

28 Apr 2026 - 5:39am

The game in question is dragon ball fighterZ

Ive tried different proton types, Ive tried, flatpak. Other EAC games work but not fighterz. Im wondering if theres a third party application that can check all the boxes for EAC (idk how it works all that well)

if it makes any difference, Im on Cachy os which is arch based

28 Apr 2026 - 4:31am

I tried reinstalling Nvidia drivers. Rebooted. Reinstalled these "32-bit library" whatever tf that is through Konsole, nothing. With this command "user@user-ms7d25:\~$ sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386

sudo apt update

sudo apt install libdrm2:i386"

All packages are up to date.

Linux becoming the king of OS for playing legacy games with D7VK

28 Apr 2026 - 4:03am

This project follows the path of DXVK so all the legacy games running using D7VK can enjoy Vulkan's speed and advanced Direct3D features which were not available at the time games where released.

You can watch an introduction about the project in the following video:

CPU usage spikes with GameSir controllers when I move the sticks while playing

28 Apr 2026 - 2:47am

Hello everyone.

I've been trying to troubleshoot a problem with my GameSir controllers (T4Kaleid and Cyclone 2). The problem is this:

When I'm in a game (so far I've tried Resident Evil 5 and Overwatch, running with Proton from Steam), using the analog sticks causes CPU usage to spike around 10-20% more (in overwatch for example go from 20% to 35-40% in main menu when move the sticks quickly in circles), which ruins my gaming experience.

Apparently, this only happens with the GameSir controllers when they're in XInput mode, wired or wireless (2.4ghz dongle).

My specs are:

RTX 3060

i7 7700 7th generation

32GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM

1TB BTRFS SS

Nvidia Bazzite Desktop Edition (updated).

If you need any further information, please let me know.

I would appreciate any help or if anyone has experienced something similar.

Best way to dual-boot windows to play a SPECIFIC GAME?

28 Apr 2026 - 2:35am

I want to migrate to Linux, BUT, my i7 4790k cannot handle Helldivers 2 without Frame Gen (yes, i know a lot about FG, i know it's bottlenecking my RTX 4060 to the sky, no need to pin that down please). What I am asking IS, what is the best/lightest way to install Win11 in another partition? I just need Win11, Discord and NVIDIA drivers, that's ALL. My SSD only has 240GB, so the more i can debload / make it light, the better it is for me. Thanks in advance!!

Dual Monitor Issue

28 Apr 2026 - 1:52am

I am switching over to Linux away from Windows and was playing with Pop_OS and Bazzite. I didn’t had any issues with Pop OS with the dual monitors. I swapped over to Bazzite and I tried to arrange my Samsung to be the primary and enable HDR on the right side and with my MSI monitor as enabled for the left side. I click apply but nadda, MSI monitor stayed on, no message about accepting changing, no single was sent to the Samsung. I reset the pc and the settings went back to default. I am currently using a display cable for the Samsung and a hdmi to the MSI. They are all connected to the gpu.

MangoHud AvgFPS and 1% lows not showing on display

28 Apr 2026 - 12:22am

This is my whole MangoHud.config file:

cpu_load

cpu_mhz

cpu_power

cpu_stats

core_load

gpu_power

cpu_temp

gpu_temp

gpu_core_clock

gpu_mem_clock

battery

frametime

refresh_rate

gpu_name

ram

vram

toggle_hud=Shift_L+F12

fps

fps_metrics=avg,0.001

Everything else is showing except for the Avg and 1% lows. I completely uninstall MangoHud, reinstalled, tried fps_metrics=avg, fps_metrics=avg,1% etc. Nothing is working. Any ideas?

How do I start wanting to play games again

28 Apr 2026 - 12:02am

This is a very odd question, I'm aware, but lately I just haven't felt the desire to play anything since I installed Linux for the first time, and its not even because I struggle to get things running

I'm honestly struggling to think of what the causes are, besides some personal reasons like job searching and studying/learning Linux, but I could guess there is some sort of paranoia games WILL crash eventually and waste my time or something despite there being no indication that will happen, or that I will have to spend an hour or so of unplanned troubleshooting before things work for games I haven't launched yet.

I'm just wondering if someone has had this issue, I feel like a little bit of a weirdo for feeling like this and even asking this question here, but I was hoping someone experienced this before too

Imainge if the hackers that got accsess to Mythos used it to make the ultiamte Virtual Mashine that can 100% not be deceted by any Anti-cheat avaliable

27 Apr 2026 - 11:52pm

Like the problem that makes many gamers dont step a foot in linux (besides form its complexity (they claim ofc)) Is that its realy not much to play in it when it comes to compative gaming. And its because of Anticheats spcialy the kernel leavel ones ( Facking Vanguard and ect) So what if someone got his hands on the best ever Ai on the planet and programed an Virtual mashine that is indistinguishable from a normal mashine in the eyes of the anticheat. Its just an idea ofc and an cool waht if scenario.

Seems like Arch-based is the way to go now

27 Apr 2026 - 9:17pm

Unless you are willing to give up a lot of performance it seems like you need to go for something based on Arch Linux such as CachyOS (standard Arch should also work but takes a bit longer to setup).

https://preview.redd.it/x541nbzk7sxg1.png?width=2223&format=png&auto=webp&s=8d7dcd77796d1cbdc8c5a4533bc21eb0ed909aa0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyYB6H4-ohc

CachyOS does try to improve performance over standard Arch Linux such as by compiling the kernel to take advantage of newer CPU features (making it incompatible with older hardware) but from what i have seen the performance gains from that are fairly marginal.

You can of course install an optimized kernel for cachyOS even if you are using some other Arch based distribution (ill test that later).
