Minecraft 1.21.10 crashes on Arch Linux
Hi everyone,
I'm having trouble running Minecraft on my Arch Linux system with an AMD Ryzen 5 5500U and integrated Radeon graphics. Minecraft crashes with a segmentation fault (SIGSEGV) during startup or gameplay.
Here's what I have tried so far:
- Updated the Mesa drivers and related AMD packages
- Updated my system
- Tried different Java version( OpenJDK 21)
- Tested running vanilla Minecraft without mods like Sodium and Iris
- Increased JVM memory allocation to 8GB
Despite this, the game still crashes with similar errors involving native libraries and OpenGL calls.
If anyone has experienced this or has ideas on how to fix it, I'd really appreciate the help!
I'm using official Minecraft launcher and Arch Linux Gnome.
Edit 1 add log: https://mclo.gs/6QxHaWx
Edit 2 more info: Games like Bread and Fred and Counter Strike 1.6 on Steam also crashing

Native Linux games only using integrated GPU
Any native game I launch on steam seems to be refusing to use my nvidia gpu whatsoever and I can't figure out how to make it work. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm losing my mind over this. I'd prefer to not need to use proton to run these titles so if anyone has anything thank you.

Xbox Controller not working with MK Legacy Kollection on Steam?
Hi, my Xbox controller isn't working in Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection, I can't even navigate the menus. XInput, Steam, and my computer all detect the controller and my controller is in great condition. Checked mappings on Antimicrox, they seem to be correct. I believe this is a game-only issue but I wanted to be sure it wasn't to do with the fact Windows is more compatible for gaming than Linux.
Please let me know if there's a solution!

Steam games freezing on Ubuntu
Hi! I’ve got a problem and I’m looking for help from anyone who might be able to assist me. I’ve been using Ubuntu as my main system for over a month now, and so far I’ve only had minor issues, all of which I managed to fix more easily than I expected.
Now I’m facing another issue in the Steam app. For every game I download, I always make sure to enable the Proton compatibility tool in the game’s properties. Until now, I haven’t had any problems using Proton Hotfix with my games — except for Black Desert and Cities: Skylines. Until now, these two games freeze while on the home screen. I can’t even get into the actual gameplay because the system completely locks up, and absolutely nothing responds. The only way to use my laptop again is to force shut it down and restart it.
I’ve tried switching to Proton Experimental, but the same thing happens. Is it possible that these games just aren’t compatible with Linux yet? Or should I try a different version of Proton?
If anyone has a suggestion or a fix, I’d be deeply grateful!”

Wayland input lag
Someone still have feeling that Wayland have more "input lag" on nvidia?
I was trying to find as much as I could about this issue, I found that Wayland has forced vsync issue and other problems, but they seems to be fixed already? I am feeling weird effect like the screen and mouse is "smoother" and like vsync. I am compering with windows, the mouse and screen feel ideal, and I am super confident in my mouse control, but as soon as I switch to Linux, I am not confident at all with this "latency", and can't used to it.
I have already enabled screen tearing in KDE settings, but this doesn't help, turned on and off adaptive sync, tried gamescope, doesn't help.
Is this really the issue now, or is it placebo and I am just crazy?

Games are not running that well
Games are kind of laggy
Hello !
I'm a new Fedora user. As the title says, Most of my games run not that good. For example, KCD II run in Kuttenberg at ~40-50fps where on Windows I was at easy 60fps. On FF7R, it's not that bad but I have some kind of stutters, same on Hitman 3. Weird thing is that, for KCD II at least, CPU+GPU work at 80% max
I've tried different Proton version, can't see major change.
I'm aware that linux is not as game optimized as Windows, but I don't understand why it does run as good as people say on ProtonDB.
Thanks for your help, and sorry for my english.

DS4 connection problem on LMDE 6
Hi guys,
This morning I connected the DS4 controller to PC using the bluetooth GUI on LMDE and everything was fine; I played at PokeMMO for a few hours without problem.
In the afternoon i used Reaper, WhatsApp and Firefox (i don't know if it matters) but now the controller it no longer connect. Or rather, it connects but immediately afterwards it disconnects.
I tried to redo the connection using terminal because i read that the interface might have a bug but it's the same.
Do you have any suggestions?

Xbox Controller not working w/ Pop_Os
As the title said, my Xbox controller no longer works with my computer. It worked when I was using Windows but it's not with PopOs.
I made sure the Bluetooth drivers were up to date so it doesn't seem to be that. I tried a couple of others things that I found online but nothing has helped.

What is this effect called and how do I get rid of it?
Today some strange lines started appearing on screen in certain scenes (look at the suit around the shoulder and arm). I'm wondering what this effect is called and how I can prevent it? All I did basically was increasing resolution from 2k to 4k (on a 4k TV, streaming via Moonlight from a Linux host). Thanks!

No option to change primary display on Steam Big Picture
Im trying to setup streaming from my PC to my TV in the same home but I cannot change the display big picture mode boots up on. I tried Sunlight/Moonlight but I couldn't get that to work properly with a virtual display, so I'm trying steam link instead. But Big Picture starts up on my main monitor and leaves my TV with a black screen. I remember there being an option to change the primary display but it's suddenly gone. I use Nobara.

Steam can't detect my external disk (Mint 22)
Hello everyone, newbie here
I just installed Mint successfully, after Windows 10 suspiciously slowing down after I refused to go to 11. As I was downloading my games from Steam, I plugged a freshly bought 500 GB external disk, ready to try a freshly offered Dispatch, and...
I can't add this disk
I tried to look for answers so I formatted it to EXT4. And yet, not only it didn't recognised, but as I look in the disk's properties, the file system is marked as "msdos"
Do you have any advices ?
Thank you in advance

Games not streaming to HMD (ALVR + SteamVR)
I use Arch Linux (by the way) and have an ALVR + SteamVR setup. When I start the setup, everything works fine, the Steam home screen works and the Steam interface too, but when I start a game, it only opens on the desktop and not in the HMD. I've looked everywhere for solutions, but haven't found any. I've tested it with all the games I own, the only one that works correctly is VRChat. Games like Metro: Awakening, No Man's Sky, The Walking Dead, etc., none of them work.

Need help with Sea of Thieves through Proton kicking me out to the main screen with Cyanbeard error every time
Hey, I'm trying to get Sea of Thieves to work through proton and I have no problem opening the game and navigating the menus. I have the game on Steam and tried multiple Proton versions (specifically Hotfix, Experimental, 9.0-4, aswell as Proton-GE (GE10-15 and 10-21).
My System:
Distro: Arch
Kernel: 6.17.5-arch1-1 (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Steam: Installed with pacman
I have no problem logging into XBOX but as soon as I click play, it will kick me back out to the start screen after roughly 10 seconds with a Cyanbeard (error translates to "Connection to XBOX Network was interrupted, please check your internet connection") error.
During this time I am able to navigate the menus and even try to start a session, all my account data loads correctly like what guilds I'm in, guild ships etc..
If I manage to confirm my selection of wanting to go to a closed crew before the Cyanbeard kicks in, I will get a Coarsebeard (error translates to "Sea of Thieves could not create crew session") and get thrown out to the main screen again.
I have a suspicion that my symmetric nat type might be part of the problem, but I can't change it due to my ISP using Carrier Grade NAT and it not giving me a public ip address.
I have this suspicion because I remember having to do troubleshooting with Teredo Tunneling when I was still on Windows 10 to get XBOX sessions to work but I am unsure how I would achieve the same result here.
I have also tried disabling IPv6 with protontricks regedit, by adding a "DisabledComponents" DWORD in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip6\Parameters with the value FF, but that got me nowhere.
I have also tried relogging. When I choose log out in the main screen, and click play, it remembers my login and I just have to say yes to choose the displayed account. I have tried logging back out completely from that screen and re-entering my credentials but nothing has worked.
When I run steam via the terminal and set game launch options to PROTON_LOG=1 gamemoderun %command%, For me, the log seems fine but I'll include it anyways:
