Bazzite : Massive stuttering at random when playing games
Hi, I'm on Bazzite with the latest updates installed, including the nVidia drivers.
I'm experiencing massive stuttering at random when I play games like Starfield, Cyberpunk 2077 or even Abiotic Factor. This happens no matter what Proton / GE-Proton I use on Steam.
EDIT : Concerning Cyberpunk, I used Lutris because I own it on GoG and I also tried with Heroic Launcher and changed which Proton version is used on both).
Also, this happens randomly and by that I mean : it can happens while I'm playing the game or just after launching it and looking at the options in the menu (happened three times in Starfield and twice in Cyberpunk). The games stutter like hell, the framerate goes to O and it can lasts for a minute or three.
I have this problem with two nVidia GPUs : 3060 Ti & 5070.

Some people might have seen my recent post, where I had problems with modding.
Today I am a few steps further along.
I now have the BG3ModManager installed via Proton and all my Mods are there. I even have the BG3 Script Extender .dll and the Settings.json in the game directory, but the manager doesn't acknowledge it. And wenn I download it via the Bg3MM it says that it worked, until I start the game, when the modsettings.lsx gets reset.
I read here:
https://github.com/LaughingLeader/BG3ModManager/issues/189#issuecomment-1866911606
that creating a symlink could help. So I looked up how to create a symlink.
and I learned that I need the command
ln -s /path/to/file /path/to/symlink
could be that my brain isn't braining anymore, but I don't know which files to link so that it works. Probably cause I don't know why it does not work in the first place.
Anyway I would be grateful, if someone could explain to me which files to link and if possible, why it didn't work before.
Best Regards
A linux noob

Gave CachyOS a shot for gaming after all the recommendations, but I’m hitting wall after wall.
Hey everyone,
I decided to finally give CachyOS a try because I kept hearing how great it is for gaming. I’ve got it running in a dual-boot setup, but honestly, since the moment I installed it, it’s been nothing but headaches.
I’m not a total stranger to Arch—I’m coming from SteamOS and I’m pretty comfortable there. I’ve managed to get Java, Minecraft, and various Wine prefixes working on my Deck without much trouble. But on Cachy, I feel like I’m fighting the OS every step of the way.
Here are the main issues I'm dealing with:
- CoolerControl: This is the one I'm currently trying to troubleshoot. I finally got it to recognize my fans and RPM after following a few tutorials, but my settings seem to have zero effect. The fans just do whatever they want regardless of the curve I set.
- No Audio: I have a Creative Sound BlasterX AE-5 Plus. The system detects the card, so it’s "there," but it’s dead silent. I’ve messed with every setting in Pulse/Pipewire I can find, and nothing changes.
- Wine/General Stability: Unlike my experience with SteamOS, Wine is a mess here. I get error messages just starting the system. I can install some programs, but trying to actually run them with Wine fails immediately.
I know there are probably solutions for the sound and Wine stuff, but right now I’m just trying to get the fans under control so I don’t melt my rig.
Has anyone with a similar setup run into these issues? I really want to like this distro, but if I can't get this stable soon, I think I’m just going to wipe it and try Bazzite instead.
PS: WinBoat installation itself went without a hitch, so at least there’s that.

Rayneo Air 3s Pro AR Glasses Review (on Linux and Steam Deck)
Line glitch/flickering
Hi, I'm pretty new to Linux Gaming and I have this line in top of my screen (tried to record it with OBS but it don't appear on it) tried to change some things but don't appear to change, except when I play in windowed (borderless still have the line), I know it must be a simple thing to change but can't put my finger on it,
I checked the comptability in steam and it's set to Proton 9,
Vsync is on, Screen set to 60Hz,
Spec: Linux Mint 22.2 Cinnamon Ryzen 5 5500H with Radeon Graphics X4 RTX 2050, Graphic server X11 Nvidia driver : 580.95.05
Sorry if I missed something feel free to ask for more info!

Intel cpu clock speeds bouncing, causing fps drop
I have a Lenovo legion i7 pro or maybe it’s an i9 pro. I can’t remember but specs are 14900HX with a RTX 4080.
I have a problem with the cpu clocks bouncing up and down and it happens every 5-20 seconds and it lasts for half a sec. When it happens the gpu utilization goes down and the fps goes down. Definitely noticeable in hell divers when on a ship staring at a panel. You’d think you get consistent enough fps but mine goes from around 140 to 105 and then rockets up to 155, then settles back to ~140.
Temps don’t seem to cause the issue.
I have tried different protons, different kernels, different nvidia drivers, even different distros.
I have tried the performance govenor but that didn’t do anything.
I’ve don’t more research and it seems it might be because of the lack of intel management framework drivers on Linux but I want to make sure there isn’t a fix I’m overlooking.

Should i upgrade my GPU? (RTX3080 -> RX9070 XT)
I'm thinking about upgrading my GPU for a while now, i'm just unsure because i wanted to wait for Radeon UDNA but it may be better to buy now since the GPU Prices will go up soon.
My System: i7-8700k, 32GB DDR4, RTX 3080 10GB (the first one), CachyOS, 3x 4K Monitors/TV (2x HDR, 2x 60Hz, 1x 120Hz(TV))
What do i play most: Cyberpunk on 4K 60Hz with Raytracing VRChat (Valve index, Steam Frame)
I wanted to upgrade to the RX9070 XT
Since 4K and VRChat uses a ton of VRAM that might be a good upgrade and AMD also runs better on Linux than Nvidia. Do you think it's worth the upgrade? Should i upgrade or wait a few more years?
(Upgrading CPU is not easily possible because of DDR5 Prices) Do you think that GDDR6 is also going up in cost? Afaik is only DDR5 or GDDR7 the issue.

Forgive Me Father but Battlefield 6 😭
And also Chivalry 2 lol. Chiv 2 does work on Linux but OOTB input latency is much worse on Linux, so switched to Windows. However with a few workarounds it’s actually better on Linux so now I’m back baby. Next year gonna be 90%+
