1080ti NVIDIA Drivers - v550 gone?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 22 Oct 2025 - 6:59pm

v550 up until today was the (recommended) on my Linux Mint Driver Manager for GPU. One of the auto-update packages in Update Manager was for something to do with v550 i noticed in its title and didn't think anything of it.
Now my recommended is v535. I can also revert to v580 but neither work for gaming (rocket league in particular), where v550 worked great. I now get the typical white pixelated squares in regions and 2 FPS as per software/driver mismatches.

v550 is also no longer an option as a driver and 'sudo apt install nvidia-driver-550' points to v580.

Is there a way to make v535 or v580 work?

There was a kernel update alongside the v550 package update, so am I also right to be hesitant in just uninstalling that v550 package in hopes of reverting?

GPU -> 1080ti
CPU -> 2700x

BattleNet not launching after Arch update

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 22 Oct 2025 - 6:27pm

I upgraded Arch yesterday, since then BattleNet is no longer launching. Launching the games directly is working fine. I'm using Faugus Launcher but also tried different methods like using Steam directly with no success.

Reinstalling BattleNet gives me Error BLZBNTBTS0000005C. BattleNet itself has multiple errors in the log for example:
network_sandbox.cc(302)] Failed to grant sandbox access to cache directory
gpu_process_host.cc(990)] GPU process exited unexpectedly: exit_code=-1073741784

It seems like there is an issue with BattleNet's CEF (Chrome Embedded Framework) which needs some 32bit libs to run. I suspect the upgrade of mesa could be the cause for that.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do?

Bad system performance while Steam downloads

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 22 Oct 2025 - 6:21pm

I'm out of ideas and I disabled the shader compilation.

I dual boot with windows and in that other OS I dont have that problem so I guess its not hardware related.

Do you know how can I solve this? Thank you.
