Loadout: overlay for Linux gaming handhelds v0.10.1 released

Loadout has been released in version v0.10.1.

Loadout is an overlay and plugin toolkit for Linux handhelds such as the Steam Deck, letting you control TDP, fan curves, artwork and alternative store integrations directly from Gaming Mode.

This small update is centred on a fix for the HowLongToBeat integration, which had stopped showing any playtimes, along with a couple of overlay and mod import improvements.

Fixed

  • How Long To Beat had stopped showing any times (#285) — HowLongToBeat has no public API, and roughly every couple of months it renames the private one its own website uses, to shake off the scrapers and bots that hammer it. It did so again in September, so the plugin’s very first request — the one that hands out a session token — started coming back as a “not found” page, and with no token every badge, library card and search quietly came back empty. Nothing in Loadout had changed. The plugin now talks to the renamed endpoint, and the address lives in one place so the next rename is a one-line fix. Separately, a search that returned nothing was being remembered for twelve hours whether it was a genuine miss or a failed request, which would have kept anything you searched for during the outage blank long after the fix arrived. Empty searches are no longer remembered.
  • Overlay input-intercept kept retrying nodes that wouldn’t open — Instead of retrying every 2 seconds against nodes that never open, the overlay now gives up on them.
  • Mod import now accepts .7z and .rar archives — Mod files in these formats, previously rejected by the import gates, now go through.

Added

  • Footer close button — Closing the overlay now also drains the InputPlumber intercept cleanly.
