Loadout: overlay for Linux gaming handhelds v0.8.2 released

Loadout has been released in version v0.8.2.

Loadout is an overlay and plugin toolkit for Linux handhelds such as the Steam Deck, letting you control TDP, fan curves, artwork and alternative store integrations directly from Gaming Mode.

This update brings several fixes: the ProtonDB and HLTB badges no longer interfere with the Steam menu, the system tools the overlay shells out to are now properly declared and installed, and the overlay refuses to open with an explanation when the gamescope path can’t work. On top of that, Wi-Fi 7 radios now recover without a PCI reset thanks to unloading iwlmld, and Intel i915/xe GPU temperature sensors are correctly classified for fan control.

Fixed:

  • fix(steam-cef-badges): keep ProtonDB/HLTB badges out of the Steam menu (#252)
  • fix(install): declare and install the system tools the overlay shells out to (#250)
  • fix(overlay): refuse to open when the gamescope path can’t work, and say why (#251)
  • fix(wifi): unload iwlmld so Wi-Fi 7 radios recover without a PCI reset (#254)
  • fix(fan-control): classify Intel i915 / xe GPU temperature sensors (#255)
