How can i disable game mode?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 31 May 2024 - 10:38am

Hi all, installed bazzite with game mode. On bootup it goes straight into steam bigpicture mode in game mode. I want to boot into desktop, how can i change the way it boots and disable game mode?

I need to go into desktop for work most days, makes no sense to always go into steam.

Thanks

Path of Exile 2 will have couch co-op, cross-play and cross-progression

Gaming on Linux - 31 May 2024 - 10:28am
I know there's quite a lot of Path of Exile fans here, especially as it works so well with Proton on Linux PCs and Steam Deck. Sounds like Path of Exile 2 is going to be a whole lot better too.

GoW Ragnarok and Until Dawn might not work on Linux or Steam Deck

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 31 May 2024 - 10:13am

Currently the Steam page for God of War Ragnarok and Until Dawn clearly state that a PSN is required. It doesn't say what it's for, the games do not have multiplayer to lock behind a PSN account requirement like Ghost of Tsushima did. And it even says on the GoT Steam page that the PSN account is required for the multiplayer and PS Overlay. So for now I feel like it's safe to assume until otherwise stated by Sony, Steam, or the developers of these games say what it's required for, we should assume it's for the game. And if that's true, that's pretty bad for people who wanted to buy the game and they should not preorder or buy if they only or primarily game on Linux/Steam Deck. Especially since there is zero reason to lock a single player experience behind a PSN account requirement that offers zero benefits beyond trophies.

God of War Ragnarok and Until Dawn coming to Steam, requires PlayStation Network Account

Gaming on Linux - 31 May 2024 - 10:04am
Both God of War Ragnarok and Until Dawn are coming to Steam finally, but they will annoyingly require a PlayStation Network Account despite being single-player games.

Unknown game, remembered from when I was a kid.

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 31 May 2024 - 4:15am

Hey everyone!! I figured I’d post here because it’s been really eating away at me for a while!!

I had a friend when I was really young and her older brother had Linux. I saw him playing this game one time and I have never, ever been able to find this game since.

I have a super foggy memory of this game but one thing I remember was there was one level where a head was floating around (and I think smoking?) and then would cough that would release projectiles down and I can’t remember if you had to dodge it or catch it?

I just remember this game creeped me out as a kid and I’ve been trying to find it lately just for a laugh! Any help is super appreciated!!!

Which Linux should i go for?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 31 May 2024 - 4:02am

As Microsoft Windows gets fatter with adware, bloatware, and spyware. It's getting increasingly more difficult to run games at the frame rate you want them to because all of that garbage is running in the background at all times, and it's completely uninstallable. I just want a good operating system for gaming and i feel like Linux could do me justice. So.. Which version of Linux do i choose? There are so many versions of Linux out there it makes me dizzy.

Edit: I think i've gathered my answers. Pop OS, Ubuntu, Fedora, and Mint are the ones i'll check out. I'm especially interested in Pop OS because of NVIDIA drivers which would be useful for me.

Direct3d feature level 12_0

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 31 May 2024 - 3:58am

Before you yell at me, yes I have done my research on fixes for this issue, and have found nothing related to Debian. I have tried GE-Proton and the --use-d3d11 start command and have not had any luck. I am running Debian Trixie, does anyone have any suggestions?

How do I install Throne of Darkness CD-ROM from within Lutris?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 31 May 2024 - 2:18am

I've been such a fan of the CD-ROM game Throne of Darkness ever since I first played the game on Windows 98, and I've been getting that itch of playing the game again! However, now that my chosen OS is Fedora Linux, I'm quickly finding out that installing Throne of Darkness from it's 2 CD-ROM set isn't easy. My guess is WINE is not correctly detecting the CD-ROM disc change which is causing the following error even though Throne of Darkness CD 2 (THRONECD2) is in my DVD Writer drive:

The E:\LotFiles\Quests.lot could not be opened.

Before clicking OK which causes the games installer to close, I checked the THRONECD2 disc with Dolphin and the requested Quests.lot file is there. I've taken a screenshot of this:

Throne of Darkness installation error

My question is: Does anyone know how I can successfully install Throne of Darkness CD-ROM from within Lutris?

Chivalry 2 on EGS

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 31 May 2024 - 1:18am

Hey, just wanted to ask, since C2 is free on EGS, if it works via Heroic on there? Or does it have to be on steam specifically, when it comes to anti cheat?

Having Trouble with BepInEx for Unity game

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 31 May 2024 - 1:03am

I'm using the BepinEx mod loader to mod a game called Back to the Dawn.

I download the Linux verstion of BepInEx, extract its contents to the game archive, then did chmod u+x run_bepinex.sh. Then, I opened Steam's launch options and set it to ./run_bepinex.sh %command% and ran the game. But the game is not generating the config files in the BepinEx/config folder

What am I doing wrong?

Steam - Laggy UI and cannot select items properly

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 30 May 2024 - 11:32pm

I am on Arch Linux, RTX 3070 and running Gnome.

Steam does allow me to select "properties" for example. But, the issue is all over the UI, I am unable to click/select items on the mouse properly. It's like the UI isn't honoring my mouse clicks.

Moreover, I notice the UI isn't exactly snappy, its a quite laggy. If I load big picture everything pretty much stops.

Is there anything I can do? Or is this the current state of nvidia (wayland), steam etc? I never remember it being that bad
