Running Assassin's Creed Shadows with HDR

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Mar 2025 - 12:58pm

Hey, I'm trying to run AC Shadows on CachyOS with an RTX 4090, and I'd like to enable HDR. I know, I know, I'm probably asking too much.

Anyway, I installed the Pyroveil "hack", and the game runs just fine, albeit in SDR.

I would like to know how to combine these two launch parameters :

PYROVEIL=1 PYROVEIL_CONFIG=/home/******/pyroveil/hacks/ac-shadows-nvidia-570-stable/pyroveil.json

and

DXVK_HDR=1 gamescope -f -W 3840 -H 2160 --hdr-enabled --hdr-debug-force-output -- %command%

Is this even possible ?

Looking for good enough sound quality, microphone and wireless headset under 120€??

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Mar 2025 - 12:39pm

Hi!

So I used to own a Logitech g733 but it was a bit of a mess software-wise and the microphone got worse from the feedback i had when using it with windows, i guess this had to be with drivers and all, yet i made sure of getting proper support via https://github.com/Sapd/HeadsetControl tool. I wonder if there is a headset with a similar price range, doesn't need to be a flashy gamer one, i'm a bit ear-injured so having some tweaking capabilities would be amazing and a microphone incorporated as well as wireless so i can stay connected to conversations even though i might not be just in front of my monitor.

I'm not picky in terms of brands, but I believe steelseries could be an option? may be corsair hs80? Then again, I am not that into headset knowledge, so i am mainly looking for more versed and properly verified feedback options.

Thanks!!

Please help me create a service that runs at startup

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Mar 2025 - 12:39pm

I run a small minecraft server on Ubuntu. It runs in a screen that I manually create. I would like to have a service automatically create an instance of minecraft which runs at reboot (in a cronjob) that is in the screen.

I already have a shell script which starts the server. Can I convert this into a service to do these things?

visual novels

Surprisingly, 95 % of my visual novel library works out of the box with bottles with no problems.

Help me with these and I will switch ASAP

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Mar 2025 - 9:34am

Been using Arch on my laptop for 2 years straight and all I can say is that I fucking LOVE it. My problem is my gaming PC, there are 2 main issues I have that are holding me back from switching 1. Escape from Tarkov (Anti Cheat) and similar games 2. Adobe Photoshop (let's be real GIMP will never even compare) I don't feel like rebooting everytime I want to play EFT I either fully switch and fully forget windows or I just don't.

centrilizing game library for the sake of not buying a game twice

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Mar 2025 - 9:25am

This is a long term problem I'm having without a good solution. After years of researching I was sticking to playnite (rinning it under VM because it doen't seem to work good under wine or any similar solution like bottles). That until I step at a steam family share issue with it... Playnite is not able to import shared games...

this is bad as today I have a damn lot of games (after 15 years buying games and able playing nothing...) and are spread over many stores like steam, gog, epic, EA, ubisoft... and there's PSN and Xbox (and very soon Nintendo store because my God! What's that NS2 rumors!? I want 2 of then! also to not play because time)

What are you using to solve this? I also love the randon pick from playnite as it bypass any time I spend chosing what to play next and often gives me very good surprises like Outer WIlds. What a nice game! ahem! The solution you use have a random picker?

Using the Vader 4 Pro controller on Linux?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Mar 2025 - 8:25am

I currently do not have Linux installed but I am considering trying it out for gaming. One thing I'm unsure of is using my Vader 4 Pro controller on Linux. It's recognised by Windows as an Xbox controller but the Vader 4 Pro has additional buttons that can't be set unless I use a program called reWASD. reWASD needs to be running in the background though as the controller can't save the bindings on its board. reWASD isn't supported on Linux so what would my options be? Could I get reWASD to run via a Windows wrapper (or whatever it's called) and the Vader 4 Pro could "see" reWASD running?

Has anyone gotten HDR games to work without gamescope and with gnome 48?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Mar 2025 - 8:10am

How did you get it working? I've tried a few games and some "switch to HDR" with the variable DXVK_HDR=1 variable set. But it's always washed out in those cases.

Loading ICC profile fails with error "inverting chromatic adaptation matrix failed".

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Mar 2025 - 7:45am

Hello everyone,

When i load my monitor's MSI icc profile, i am greeted with error mentioned in $Title. Screenshot link : https://imgur.com/a/VQJJ1UH

Same file was working fine with my older GPU i.e RX 6600. My current GPU is RX 9070.

Is it related to the known bug : https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/4057 ?

Game looks comparatively wash out and i am suspecting it is because RGB range is limited thus i was testing it with icc profile. However, proptest shows, so i am not sure if it's the cause :

95 Colorspace: flags: enum enums: Default=0 BT709_YCC=2 opRGB=7 BT2020_RGB=9 BT2020_YCC=10 value: 0

OS Info, if that matters :

  • Arch on Plasma 6.3.3
  • RX 9070
  • Ryzen 7600X
  • kernel 6.14.0
  • Mesa 25.1.0-devel (git-5b11c3ff0a)

Thanks in advance.

Very very bad performance on all games from flatpak steam with proton. Any ideas?

Reddit Linux_Gaming - 25 Mar 2025 - 7:41am

Even though I am using fedora kinoite on my laptop for more than a year I am very casual noob user.

And now I decided to install fedora kinoite on my main PC. Everything was nice: i successfully installed OS on my fist drive, I partitioned and mounted my second drive, I added flathub to discovery, I installed nvidia drivers for immutable disto with the help of rpmfusion "howto" guide, then i dowlonoaded steam flatpak, turned proton on in compatibility setting and started downloading games I play.

But when I finished downloading games and launched them, they all had awful performance. I thought maybe the problem is with mounted drive but no matter where i download games they still have bad performance. Also for a test I downloaded the same game on my laptop but performance was perfect there without any proton tweaking even though laptop do not have graphics card. I guess a the proble is not about Nvidia drivers then. I am not sure if the problem is in proton I haven't tried to set up wine and etc.

Have I missed some important step in setting up my system? Any tips?
